Hello Everyone,

We are excited to announce our newest rifle to the line, The Huldra MK IV Tactical Evo.

Here is the official write up below but this is a lightweight, extremely well balanced rifle that looks as good as it shoots. I have gotten to play with one for a little while and I am really impressed with this package!

Rifle will sell for $1349.00 and is available in all of stores and online now. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

The Huldra Mark IV Tactical EVO features the Samson Evolution Series Free Float forearm that extends along the sides and bottom of the gas block. Two accessory rails come standard with the rifle and can be reconfigured easily to adapt the hand guard to your needs and can also be mounted at 45 degree offsets. The ergonomics of this rail set a new standard. The anti-rotational tabs make this handguard all the more impressive by virtually eliminating the possibility of the rail losing alignment even under hard use. And the QD sling mount that is included just makes this package that much more outstanding.

The Adams Arms piston system is one piece and is accessible from the front of the piston block. Iron sight optics (not included) are designed to be affixed to the sturdy piston block which is attached to the barrel, as opposed to attaching front sights to our competitor's inherently flexible rails that have to be frequently removed and reattached. The Adams Arms patented piston system will run cleaner, cooler, and longer. The piston system parts and the barrel have been treated with our salt nitride meloniting process making them incredibly hard.

The Magpul CTR butt stock is designed for light, fast action. The CTR features a supplemental friction lock system that minimizes excessive stock movement for enhanced weapon stability and an ambidextrous QD sling mount. A standard rubber butt pad provides positive shoulder purchase to prevent slippage, even with body armor or modular gear. The Ergo Grip is solid and comfortable.

The Melonited corrosive resistant Chrome/Molly/Vanadium 41/50 barrel provides excellent coating uniformity and no tolerance build up in the barrel to create deviation. Our melonited barrels have higher lubricity, last longer and are just plain tougher than chrome lining. The barrel chambers are speed polished reducing resistance on the cartridge entering and exiting the chamber. The upper and lower receiver is machined from high quality mil-spec 70/75-T6 aluminum forgings and hard coat finished. The mil-spec buffer tube is precision machined from 70/75-T6 aluminum as well. The magwell front features recessed Chevrons for improved control.

What really sets this rifle apart is the size of the barrel. It is 14.5 inches. We have permanently affixed an elongated flash hider to give you the benefits of a shorter barrel, without the expense and hassle of obtaining an ATF tax stamp. Not only that, our flash hider is “reduced radius”, allowing a gunsmith or armorer to remove the piston block for servicing the weapon. The elongated, reduced radius, permanently attached muzzle device gives you the legally required overall barrel length.

Can you give us any details on your Bolt Carrier Group?

Vapor Trail-

I am not Huldra Arms' technical expert, that is Dave's bailiwick, but our BCGs are one piece stainless and are Melonited. The bolt is also Melonited, and mil-spec made from Carpenter 158 Steel.

Thanks,
Stewart

Thanks for quick reply. With all of these features like Melonited internals, a piston setup, and fancy furniture, how are you able to keep the price so low? You guys are like half as expensive as a Noveske!

The answer to how we keep our prices as low as we do is easy: very low margins (which is part and parcel of Fleet Farm's recipe for success). The Huldra project is about more than just selling rifles. When we received the go-ahead from Hank and Stew Mills to initiate this project, Fleet Farm had ulterior motives. For years we had stuck to dedicating ourselves to the core hunting consumer, I believe they are called Fudds on the forums. As the market has shifted we decided that we needed to expand our offerings to include AR15 platform rifles, handguns and tactical accessories. Before we ever sold a Huldra rifle Fleet Farm had three objectives: 1) was to stop chasing our customers to our competition for the above mentioned products, 2) invite a group of potential customers into our stores that do not normally shop Fleet Farm, and 3) generally build excitement and traffic within our sporting goods department. We have accomplished that and in the process sold a lot Huldra's.

This also has been a marketing exercise in creating a brand that has been nationally recognizable within a very short time. Our website has provided countless referrals that have resulted in sales to fleetfarm.com. All in all Huldra has been a tremendous success for Fleet Farm on so many levels.

On the personal side of things, myself and Huldra team set out to create a rifle that we personally wanted over other piston rifles such as LWRC and H & K (I have tremendous respect and affection for those). In choosing the Huldra team, about half were ready to be done with Direct Impingement; their departments had issued them DI guns and they hated them because of all the problems and hassles encountered. The other half, Dave included, would argue with me during Carbine training that a piston was completely unnecessary; that changed when I put the first run of Huldra's in their hands and they got to use them.

This has been a personal project for me. I have worked in the “trenches” at Fleet Farm for about two decades hiring and firing, writing personnel manuals, handling lawsuits, drafting SOPs, running the health insurance plans, and all the not-so-fun stuff that is involved with running a business. In the last few years we have developed our staff to the point that I no longer have to work hands-on and day-to-day putting out fires or dealing with routine issues; and now can drive new projects forward. The Huldra program, selling handguns and tactical accessories are the projects that I most eagerly wanted to drive forward. Up until this time there were no guns on my wish list that I could have bought from our own store.

So creating the Huldra brand, and building the highest quality cutting-edge rifle possible at a price that would not be offensive to Midwestern sensibilities has been my goal for long time, and now it is a big part of my job.

Thanks,

It is true I was very skeptical of the rifles when I first came on board. When I started seeing the spec sheets of the builds I saw quality parts, from brands we all know, VLTOR, Ergo, Samson, JP, Mega etc. Then I got to shoot them and kept an open mind.

I still can't believe how we put out some of the rifles we do for the price, if you look at our competitors we have amazing prices and rifles. I continue to shoot mine in both training, carbine courses, competitions, and duty use and mine have never let me down. Especially at first, I really wanted to have the rifle fail to say, "see DI is the way to go." It never happened and they kept running and running, while some of my DI guns did fail, broken gas rings, seized one piece rings, etc. I know everyone says, tell me something other then cleaning, but man I really enjoy how clean the bolt carrier assembly stays. I have pics of my SBR detail stripped after a 2200 round carbine course and was amazed, even the piston components and gas block were pretty impressive.

We strive to have some of the best customer service in the industry, period. If you buy a rifle from us you will receive great service from anyone of our stores, before, during, and after the sale. We are here and in fact if you call or email us, you'll likely talk to me or Stewart. We care about our customers, if a customer invests in one of our rifles we owe it to them to provide the best service and support we can.

If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to post or contact us.

Thanks!
Dave
