Hey guys,
I got a buddy on a SWAT team that is looking for a holster that he can put on his MOLLE Vest.

The only system I was able to find was the Safariland MLS system, but I'm not sure that what he wants.

One place he did mention he would like to put it is inside the wrap, by the rib cage, if that is clear? or on the very front. If on the front, he has limited space to the side since he has a utility pouch already mounted on there.

Any help would be appreciated.

How about G-Code holsters?

They have a modular system with a few different methods of attaching to Molle. I recently purchased one of their holsters with a 1-3/4" belt attachment. It's their duty attachment with a drop and offset, which I am intending to pair with a HSGI Suregrip Padded Belt.

There are a couple of videos on YouTube regarding the G-Code holsters and I believe one of them shows mounting on a chest rig or PC with Molle. I don't run anything from a chest rig or PC, so I don't have personal experience with them though.

You're not gaining anything by going with the G-Code platform over the Safariland MLS.

Best solution I have seen for inside the cummerbund is a decent kydex holster or to mod the platform for an ALS or SLS and bolt it in.

Really, if he's set on it I know internet opinons won't sway him, but the height that PC cummerbunds ride will impede the draw a lot more than a PC will interfere with a belt holster.

For a duty holster it's hard to beat Safariland.

Out of curiosity, why does he want it on his vest? I've never seen this as the best option, at least for LE use.

Whichever holster system you choose, make sure its modular and MOLLE and belt attachments systems are available for it. Have him experiment with drawing from both places if possible. Some do not prefer the additional work of drawing from a PC's cummerbund, I know I do so I know some do. Find out what works for him.

thanks guys.

He doesn't wear anything around his waist. He wants everything on his vest. The typical place a holster could fit, right on the chest, is taken up by a admin pouch, so he has very little room off to the side for a holster. So the only other place due to his setup would be behind the cummerbund.

I agree if going with a snap system nothing beats Safariland. I passed all that info to him including other kydex options up to him.

I should also add, he's a sniper so he wont be breaching and possibly going to a secondary if primary fails. So that gives him a little more leeway IMO were he can mount his holster since speed or draw is not that critical so to speak.

This is just my opinion as a civilian. I would think speed of draw for a sidearm would be more important to a sniper. Being that they have less ammo(if using a bolt gun) in the gun as well as on hand, if he should find himself in a close quarter engagement the ability to make a quick transition to the secondary would be vital. Again this is just an assumption as a civilian so take that for what its worth.

I see this opposite. a "sniper" would only use his rifle with magnified optics as his primary when in the hide, removed from close quarters. movement to and fro would have the rifle stowed and the pistol already drawn as the primary.

I don't see much need for immediate access to a secondary weapon as would be in CQB. a "sniper" would generally have a spotter providing security.

this leads me to believe speed of access is less important than secure and comfortable mounting to the mission at hand but I'm still confused as to why the OP isn't considering a belt mounted holster...

My post was just speculation as I don't know how they operate, and to be honest I forgot they have a team member that will be equipped with an m4(?) Or other high cap weapon as a primary.

To the op. Has your friend considered a drop leg holster?
