View Full Version : Ascend tents
Looking for a lightweight, durable (taped seams, durable floor, decent poles/spikes) 2-person tent with a rainfly and vestibule.
These two caught my eye but this Ascend brand appears to only be available at BassProShops:
I don't have a BPS near me, so I'm curious to know if these are quality products. Or if there are some alternatives for similar price ($100-$150) I could look at either at a Cabela's, REI store, or online at Amazon.com.
IIRC, Ascend is a "nice" line of BPS store brands. For those prices, I would look into something from a known quantity, such as Eureka.
I just received my Marmot Limelight 2P which I ordered from ebay for $175 shipped. If you are willing to spend another $50 dollars you can really get into some good tents.
Check these out...
If you look around you should find either of these for $200 or less
Thank you, will check those out.
Please post what you come up with and how it turns out. I really could not decide but ultimately did not want to spen too much. Where I come from....$100 is too much but you can't get any quality at that price.
I can vouch personally for the Big Agnes Lynx Pass 2 that Battle Hound linked to in the second link. Really good quality, very spacious, lightweight for a two person tent, good fly design with some options on setting it up, and the color is good for blending in to your surroundings. I got mine on sale for about $175 (I think).
The Marmot in the first link looks interesting too.
I would look over REI's website and look at all the specs for each tent that interests you. REI's website is super user-friendly and really can help you make a good decision without ever having to see the product in person. Read some of the reviews too.
There's an REI nearby. They both seemed decent and comparable. Went with the Big Agnes (bought online) since I was able to find that about $30 cheaper than the Marmot. Thanks for the suggestions.
Let us know how it works out...I was really torn
