View Full Version : Q3269 & Q3131 Wet Phone-Book testing
Wet phone book testing at 100y.
The M855 penetrated 3.5 water-logged phone-books (about 10-14").
The M193 penetrated 1.9 water-logged phone-books (about 6-8").
The Q3131 tumbled in the latter part of the first phone book while the Q3269 tumbled in the last part of the 2nd phone book.
The Q3131 wound-channel was larger and had a "snowstorm" of partacles in it. The Q3269 was less dramatic but still a healthy amount of damage.

What barrel length did you fire from?

Water-logged phone-books are a prepaired media :D I AM getting more high tech!
I must admit I just left them out in the weather and did my shooting the morning after a good rain :D
The snow-storm of particles from the M193 is predicatable; many 55grn and lower weight varmint bullets do this when they hit groundhogs or prarie dogs. Looks like you used a decent test media in place of gelatin.
The M855 broke right at the cannalure just as expected in gelatin. Did the steel core also break or is that thing complete ?

It is complete, but it did separate from the jacket in 2/3 the cases.

Let's see the phone books !!! :D
Tag to see if Doc posts...
I'd like to see some of that PRIV M193 tested. Someone here posted that it didn't frag so great out of a 20" barrel at close range, into water jugs.

That would be me. I have never gotten the Prvi to do more than slightly flatten in phone-books at 100y with a 20" rifle (they werent very damp, but I don't think that matters too much when it just comes to breaking the round in 1/2). The Q3131 looked just like it does in my original post, fired at the same distance into the same books one the same day from the same rifle. The Prvi was striaght, and slightly flattened near the base.
Also, it was fired at a distance of about 5' into a 35gal trash-can and here are the results...I was unimpressed and it is now plinking ammo.
