If you cut the tabs off a sten magazine to fit in a AR-15 type firearm are you breaking the law? Because it no longer can fit back in the original firearm.

What kind of law would you possibly be breaking??

Take a look at the date that post was made. It was in 2002, well before Sept 2004 when the federal AWB expired. Now, as long as you don't live in a restricted state, such as NY, MA, CA, HI, etc, you can do whatever you want to.
