In MA regular has been hovering around $2.99 for quite a while. At this point I'd even be happy with that! I'm stuck with a premium guzzler. $3.20

$3.05 a gallon? Must be nice .... been looking at $3.09 to $3.29 for 87 octane locally this weekend.

Now that I've stopped crying, $3.49 for the good stuff, $3.10 or more for regular. I'm computing how much pipe I'll need to get to you. Or perhaps you could Priority Mail me 2000 gallons. Thanks.:(

That's gotta be a killer on you with your commute.

Got any guns you want to sell to pay for gas?:D

If prices keep up this high for much longer it might come to that. :D

Interesting, the complaints of 6 years ago.....

Gas is currently $3.16 at the cheapest station in my town.

Just over $4 for me last time I filled it, but I do have to use premium.

Yeah, is interesting to see...

But feel lucky. The cheapest I have seen lately in the SLC area is around $3.59 for regular unleaded and most are low $3.6x

I use premium and got 4 gallons on the east side of the Valley on Saturday for $4.009 but then later in the day filled up at Costco in the south end of the valley at $3.819

At least Diesel is back down in the mid range of gasoline. A few months ago it was 60-90 cents more per gallon then premium.

I run premium in everything but my car. Motorcycle is my preferred method of travel. $3.36/gallon as of today. Gas is usually cheaper in the Valley than other parts of the state, always wondered why.....

Here in the central Oregon coast it's $4.10 for unleaded, It was $4.39 a couple of weeks ago. With the BP oil refinery in Washington catching fire in February and the JP Morgan incident, we had some of the highest prices in the country.

This topic is great for periodic revivals and necro posts. In another few years, we could all be talking about $5.75 gas....or who knows? Maybe $8.95 a gallon gas. I am sure some of us still remember 85 cent gas and leaded gasoline. :)

85 cent gas? Try 40 cent gas. And that was before the price jumped 50% after the '73 arab oil embargo.

cheapest I have ever paid for gas was back when the economy first took a shit in 08. It was $1.28 a gallon here. When I started driving in 2001, It was $1.45.....

Now its between $3.40 and $3.80.....

Gas could be $25/gal for all I care.

120 MPG isn't too shabby. :D

Of course, I wouldn't be able to find food anywhere. My electricity would shut off, water would probably stop running, etc etc...but I could commute ;)

I paid 4.59/gal the other day for 92 octane. I ride my bike a lot more now a days and use all those cheese burgers and pizzas I have stored up instead.

$7-8 is going to be somewhat of a soft ceiling for gas prices, since oil sands/shale production is going to start becoming very profitable long before then.

It's still amusing that nobody from Cali has come into this thread... I was there last week, and this is the first time I've ever had to swipe a card twice in the same fillup.

When I first filled up my mini-bike(trail-70)back in the early 1970's a gallon went for around .30 cents....

Gas hasn't gone below $3.00 all year here in Central Virginia. I can't remember when it even came close to $3.05!!

$3.219 is the cheapest in the county today and on average it is probably a nickel higher.

I paid $4.199 on Friday in Chicago...luckily I was on business travel and it went on the corporate card...

I remember the bus driver in 7th grade bitching about the 0.65/gallon price after gas shot up in the late mid 70s after one of the embargoes or whatever. Was not the 73 one but something that cause it to jump up and 65 cents is specifically what he was complaining about...

ETA: just found this -- about the right time http://www.1970sflashback.com/1978/

But, back in '98 gas prices tanked from a couple bucks to around 89 cents a gallon when oil fell to $10/barrel...

Those were happy days for filling up. And I just sold the car I was driving then about 18 months ago so it is even kind of near past...

I got excited because I got to fill up at $4.01/gal last Friday, just saying.

In San Francisco proper, minimum price is like $4.30. Two weeks ago, in downtown it was $4.59. I now only gas up in the East Bay.

I purchased regular 87 at a Chevron 3 days ago in Southern California for $4.19/ gallon.

Some of the prices mentioned here sound pretty good in comparison.

P.S. I saw a guy fill-up a full size pick-up a couple of weeks ago and it cost over $200.00:eek:

Wow. Big tank. My Dodge 2500 Cummins has a 34 Gallon tank IIRC. A full load is $125. I don't drive it that much (if I can avoid it -- take the car if at all possible) and have been putting in 10 gallons at a time...

44 gallons is more than I would want to put in. That might take 3 swipes at some stations.

How long does that last you?

I don't know what model or year Suburban he has, but a quick google check shows the 2011 Suburban, depending on model etc gets 12-17mpg combined, 10-15mpg city... So I would guess somewhere in that range.

Do the math.

Not a pretty sight.

My Dodge 2500 pickup with Cummins diesel gets around 16-17 "city combined -- mostly city" and up to 20-22 highway at 4500 ft altitude. It does a couple mpg better down lower like in Phoenix area when I was there with it.

34 gallons x 16 = about 544 miles to empty the tank...

My VW Passat gets 25-28 city/combined with an 18 gallon tank = about 470 miles. Since the tank is almost half the size and the range close to the same, you know why I drive the car whenever I can :(

It all depends. I am not a "daily commuter" so to speak so I can fill up and go for a week or more.

Soon I will be in a more "9-5" schedule with a fairly short (I hope commute) so we will see how that works out.
