Actually a very good friend helped me put this together...

I wanted to get an accurate but light package for my take on an SPR type carbine and got a Daniel Defense SPR Mid Length Complete Upper in .223 Wylde

Daniel Defense SPR Mid Length Complete Upper Receiver Group with matched bolt.
Lothar Walther 16" bbl 1in7 .223 Wylde
Daniel Defense 12.0 Lite rail
Harris Bipod
Lewis Machine & Tool Match Lower with LMT 2 stage match trigger group (amazingly good 2 stage trigger on the LMT)
IOR Valdada 1.1-4x26 CQB illuminated scope w/ M855 BDC
Larue Tactical QD SPR mount
Troy BUIS
Ergo Grip
LMT SOPMOD Stock
Vicker's Combat Applications Sling

Lewis Machine & Tool 2 stage Match lower
Daniel Defense Rail and attachments
EOTech 552
PRI Front Troy Rear BUIS

Nice looking build. I have a Colt lower that is probably going to be the building block of my SPR. Your's has given me inspiration. Shoot the hell out of it!

Do you have a range report om the Danial Defense upper? How may rounds fire since built? Any issues? Would buy a DD upper again?

I currently building a EBR/SPR and I've selected the following parts;

Daniel Defense SPR Mid Length Complete Upper Receiver Group
Lothar Walther 16" bbl 1in7 .223 Wylde
Lewis Machine & Tool SOPMOD Lower with LMT 2 stage match trigger group

it is generally understood (correct me if im wrong) that if you use photobucket or a similar web host for pictures, that you cannot MOVE them or DELETE them.....otherwise threads such as this are rendered relatively useless....

I believe that most of the problems (with the pics) is that photobucket was hacked and a bunch of accounts, like mine, cleared out.

I will attempt to get them uploaded.... again.

It appears you and I have the same idea! Great minds think alike! :D

I have had the chance to only get to the range to get the Colt and DD sighted in briefly. I hope to get to the range this week and fine tune the 200yard zero, and see what I can squeeze out of it for a 100yard group, then this weekend I will be taking the DD out to shoot out to 200-800 yards.

I am very impressed with the DD upper and equally with the two LMT lowers, the triggers are excellent.

I think you are going to really like it. Daniel Defense and Lothar Walther make the best products in their respective fields.

Before taking your DD out to shoot what type of cleaning job did you perform?

Ran a bore snake through it a couple of times, Daniel Defense actually recommend a break in procedure...

I emailed them and they sent me a PDF entitled:

Barrel Break-In Procedures:

Thank you for purchasing the Daniel Defense SPR Complete Upper Receiver Group. We take pride in the quality and accuracy of our SPR barrels and would like to recommend the following break-in procedure to ensure you are getting the best performance out of your SPR barrel.
With a quality barrel, the direction of the interior finish corresponds with the direction of bullet travel. However, when the barrel is chambered, there will be reamer marks in the throat perpendicular to the direction of bullet travel leaving an appearance much like the teeth of a file.
These teeth allow greater opportunity for fouling and copper deposits to build up.
To diminish this build-up, one may want to polish the interior of the throat by performing the “fire-one-shot-and-clean” method. That is, fire one shot, then clean the barrel and repeat this process five times. Observe the cleaning patches for copper fouling and if it is not reduced repeat the one-shot-and-clean process until fouling reduces. Once the fouling has reduced, fire three rounds, clean, and observe the patch for any further fouling. If fouling has significantly reduced, fire five more rounds and clean the barrel a final time.
Some barrels become broken-in before others and may not require the full process outlined above. If fouling has significantly reduced after the first step, there is no need to continue with the breaking-in process.
This is a process that we have found works well with our SPR barrels. Opinions on proper barrel break-in abound, therefore, this process is only a suggestion.

I spent several hours this afternoon at the range and shot three commercial loads. Federal Match 77gr SMK, Black Hills blue box 52gr Match HP, Black Hills blue box 50gr V-Max.
The Daniel Defense upper has functioned 100% flawlessly and seems to like all ammo types from 50gr to 77gr.

Here are a couple of groups, the squares are an inch:

5 shot group at 100 yards using Federal Gold Medal Match 77gr SMK. I'm sure I was the cause of the flier, I have 5 or 6 groups of 4 shots touching and the 1 out of 5 flier... I was only using a 4 power scope.

Obviously I am very pleased with the results. Here she is after the afternoon workout...
