BCG in a 6920

The BCG that comes with a 6920 is FA, right? It's different that a semi auto BCG, isn't it?

If so, please explain.

For someone who never intends to fire it in FA, should the BCG be replaced or is it fine as is?

The Colt 6920 is a semi-auto carbine and has a semi-auto BCG (Correct me if I'm wrong). The BCG it came with is just fine. Just lube and shoot. If and when it breaks, their are lots of after market BCG's out there to replace it with. To be honest, the parts will start to break before the BCG will break (cam, bolt, extractor, firing pin, gas key). But you shouldn't see those kinda failures and breakages until 7K to 10k rounds fired, depending on light usage (plinking) or heavy (500-1000rnd) shooting sessions. I bought 2 FA BCG's last month as back up's to my 6920 and colt/saber defense recce builds as I am stocking up on springs and things. They are more durable and about the same in price or within a 10-20 bucks of the semi auto BCGs.

The carriers that come with 6920s are now M16 (aka fullauto carriers) it's been this way since about 2004 or 2005.

They are very durable and very high quality.

some 2004 6920 purchases came with the M16 carrier. Also seen in 6520s and 6721s (as standard) beginning in 2005-2006.
