View Full Version : Good Lube for my AR

Hi All,
I'll be building an AR here soon, my first:D . In my AKs and my handguns I've used the Militech-1, and followed the instructions. I've been impressed with the results. After you apply and use heat gun/hair dryer or shoot the firearm (obviouysly it heats up). The metal becomes nice and slick for a long time and cleaning is easier, too.

Anybody use the Militec-1 on the AR? If so, how'd it work out? If not, what's the best stuff?

I have been using Militec 1 on my AR's and it seems to work quite well. I just use it very liberally as a lube, didn't really pay any attention to the seasoning process.

Some guys are big fans of Vagisil. ;)

Good Lube for my AR?

I use whatever lube is free... Just hose it down with whatever lubricating slime is handy and you don't have to pay for... And run it wet...

I didn't know that there were lube debates:confused: . Sorry, if I'd known I would have just kept using what works for my other guns.

FFL dealers wanting to try a free sample of NanoLube TM email me, attach your cert - and I will send you a free sample of our best weapons lube in the new NDN7.5-ATM+P, $9.00 size. Treats 5-10 weapons

The link quoted has some initial test results. Try the two drop trigger pull job that smoothes and reduces pull poundage 10-30% - permanently. Barrel treatments prevent fouling ,and overall cleaning is a snap after full treatment has be done.

Non FFL's can buy NanoLube on ebay.

I have been using SLIP 2000 EWL for a while now. It works very well for me and I will not be switching unless they find a way to make it better.

GONIE posted this on Has anyone used NanoLube yet ?
http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=14522&page=4&highlight=nanolube

ok, it worked on a very stiff FAL build ,smoothed it out in 2 mags (40 rounds and it now functions 100% and it didn't B4 the Nanolube.

GONIE said he used Mobil 1 too - but NanoLube is better, and it works even after the oil is GONE.

What I would like to see is the T&E from the 20+ people I provided free samples to, I will send free samples to FFL dealers only.

I like Slip's products.

Militec is good (expensive) stuff. If you have that, use it with confidence.

Quaker State Q (The 4X4 formula 10W-30)- It was left over from an oil change and my guns work fine using it.

Consider this another vote for Mobil 1. I used CLP in my first AR and decided to use Mobil 1 in my second AR that I just finished building. For me, there is no comparison - the AR lubed with Mobil 1 just feels smoother. I slather the stuff on with abandon and have not had a single hiccup since day 1.

TW25B grease 16.9 oz EP spray....

I use the spray on lube and ONLY use the heavy grease for the OpRod on my M14...

I have tried to find what I used in Iraq and this is the closest stuff that I could find for those moving parts....

BTW I use Tetra lube after I clean my bore
http://www.tetraproducts.com/industrial-lubeoil.asp

I lube the bore with there lube and it does EXACTLY what they advertize! I have a friend that dropped his electronic bore cleaner down my barrel and it went Straight to Green indicating that it was clean.

I clean my Bore with Gunslicks Foaming Bore Cleaner
http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=91915

BEFORE anyone chimes in I know it says you are NOT to use on Semi Guns with a gas system...But I have had no problems AT ALL with any of my Semis ...thats BECAUSE I use Breakfree Powder Blast and spray out the Gas Tube from the chamber having it exit the business end. (Btw it smells MUCH better than other products out there)

So thats it
to recap:
TW 25b
Tetra Lube
Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner
BreakFree Powder Blast

Good Luck

It's not a gripe at you. It's just that this site has an irrational lust for debating lube. :p

Nanolube guy- i don't see where it worked on live TV from the video clip provided. If you send me a sample I will; totally clean and degrease a 1911, a Colt uppered m4 type carbine, and a M&P 9mm to test your product and post my results. All weapons are mechanically bone stock. I will keep accurate round counts on weapons, and test trigger pulls before and after application, along with any other notes of interest as I go.

I personally think you are lacking knowledge on how your product will hold up on a high use firearm... Or the flip side I could be underestimating your product and it will keep working once the crude starts forming in the internals on a high round count gun. Either way you keep recommending this product to people like it is the end all answer to lube....Let me know.

Well I guess that this would be a good time to chime in about the Nanolube sample(s) I received. I used it on some AK's that had very stiff latches. I applied a few drops to the problem areas and it worked damn good. As a matter of fact I first tried CLP which didn't seem to help.

Next test was out on the range with an M249 SAW. Lube was applied to to the rails and main contact points. Ambient temperature was about 99 degrees and was dusty outside. There were no malfunctions of any kind after approx. 1000 rds being expended.

One of our guys was running through an extended shoot course with his issue Bushmaster. I had him wipe down all other excess lube and then lube the inside with Nanolube. It was applied to the bolt and carrier and along the upper where the charging handle rides. A few hundred rounds were fired during this course and no malfunctions were observed. There was one malfunction that was attributed to the ammo only.

Final test I took an old (pre-1959) milled receiver AK47 that was a little rough. I cleaned it up and lubed it with Nanolube. The gun ran excellent. As a matter of fact it almost seemed to be cycling faster than normal (though I don't believe this is the case) and experienced no problems. I am probably going to buy a larger size bottle and use it more before I give a 100% endorsement.

Myself I just buy all the items I test and use with my own money. Call me old fashioned but it's just my way of doing things.;)
