View Full Version : Daniel Defense Sling Mount ?
Looking to pick up a couple of receiver sling mounts for my rifles and have been looking at the Daniel Defense Rear Receiver QD Swivel Attachment Point (http://www.danieldefense.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=78).

I really like all my other DD items and this looked good too.
I was wondering if it blocked the stock fully collapsing? It looks fairly thin as compared to some other similar mounts.
Also it states it limits rotation. It would almost seem that for an end receiver plate 360 degree rotation would aid in transitioning from one shoulder to another. Will the rotation limiter be a no-go for this?
Thanks for sharing any experience you have with this mount!

I think your limit on rotation is going to be the width of the QD swivel vs. the clearance with the receiver extension. Looks to me it's got plenty of rotation to allow shooting off either shoulder but the proximity of the tube would prevent it from doing a 360° spin while hanging free.
Understood. So is the limiter there to keep it from chewing up the tube? Does it rotate easily from one side to the other without twisting up the sling?
Something like 270 degrees or so of rotation with a 90 degree dead spot around the tube would seem about right. Give or take some for various tolerances and dimensions.
I also notice that in the picture I posted the top of the mount is thinner than the bottom possibly allowing for further collapse of the stock, but in the picture from Grant's site and ADCO's site show a mount that appears to be even from top to bottom. Are there two versions?

I should clarify that I don't have one, I just looked at that picture and that observation jumped out at me...Sorry.

It rotates very easily, I use one on each of my lowers. With the swivel in place my Vltor stocks will not lock into the fully collapsed position. They will however with the swivel removed, not a big deal since I use position 4. The current model is thin at the top, I believe earlier models were full thickness.

I have it and use it with a CTR. The stock collapses all the way and it rotates easily from one side to the other.
Edited to add: I like it alot.

I've been using one since it first came out, and I'm it works great as a QD mount.

My LMT Sopmod stocks close all the way with the DD mount and QD attachment.
I've got the older version where it is full thickness throughout. My LMT SOPMOD will not collapse all the way even with the swivel detached. Mine also limits the rotation to just a wiggle. It can be set to be either on the left or right side, but you have to remove and re-insert.

Both Grant and ADCO list them.

I ordered mine from ADCO, since Grant was out of stock last week. Got 'em yesterday and love 'em. I can't fully collapse my Vltor emod with the QD swivel plugged in, but it does collapse when the QD is disconnected.

They'll be out of stock for a few weeks.
I use them too.
While the DD part itself won't limit the stock closing, having the QD swivel in place will. Not a big deal since with the QD feature you can just detach it if you need to collapse the stock all the way for storage.
Incidentally they stake REALLY well into the castle nut.
I think they work great for transitions to the off-side shoulder when running with a single-point sling.

Give DD a call, they should be able to take care of you.

I use them too and second this statement.
Got my mount in the other day,
WOW!
I don't know how I got by without it before!
It really does make shoulder transitions MUCH easier!
(You were right Grant!)
And like you said Rob it did stake very well.
Thanks for all the info!

I am using a Gear Sector adapter to attach the sling to the DD sling adapter. It is lower profile than the adapters that have a slide buckle between the QD and the male buckle. The 4" or so of straight webbing makes transitions to the weak side easier than having the QD mounted directly to the sling.
I like being able to remove the sling entirely with the QD or release the Fastex buckle which I find a little faster because it doesn't require fine motor skills like the QD.

Thanks for this statement. I was searching for Grant's picture of his setup using this sling mount. I was going to ask about the staking of the castle nut, but it look slike you've already answered it for me.
I placed a big order, for me, from Grant today.

I'm still deciding on a sling. I'll probably go with the VCAS padded with built in QR swivels, but I need to make sure to get the new/updated shorter 18" padded version instead of the older 21" padded version.
