We are currently finalizing the build details for a line of carriers that can be taken into "harms way" with absolute confidence. This is somewhat of a response to the threads that have been seen concerning failures during use and also a result of expanded production capacity.

The baseline is a correctly specified M16 carrier heat treated to provide a minimum of 12 thou of case hardening and cylindrically ground both internally and externally for correct alignment. The externals are manganese phosphated to mil-std-171 per print and the internals are hard chromed to exceed the minimum specified by the military. Chrome adhesion is assessed from sample batches to negate flaking and porosity in production items. This is combined with a chrome lined gas key using aircraft certified torx drive screws and staked from the side (Ned Christian MOAKS tool until I finish the twin cylinder air drive press) The combination of the solid staking with the high quality screws will ensure that nothing will ever break loose, especially when it matters. The torx drive screws allow the correct torque to be applied to the screws by automated assembly without any deformation of the drive, but more importantly the alignment with the installation tool is less critical to ensuring that everything is tight.

The combination of the torx drive and the side staking will also provide a visual cue that the carrier is of a known heratige

If everything works out on the tooling these will be available at decent prices towards the end of November.

Pictures will follow ASAP

Sounds great! - actually, sounds just like what I'm looking for.

Not really a ground breaking inovation, just a set of good parts assembled the right way. It is suprising how many problems with the gun can be fixed using this approach.

Following are the pictures of the carrier units.

I spoke to Grant today and these should retail for between $80 and $84 per unit depending how the volume goes. Those interested in the mechanics should note that the two contact surfaces on the base of the carrier that run across the cartridges in the mag are kept very smooth to help reliability

Bill,

Are these the same carriers that Grant now offers as "FN contracted?"

Are you also offering complete BCGs?

Price?

Thanks,

-55
