We originally built this billet reciever to provide a foundation for the 6.5 Grendel rifles that needed to reach out to 1400 yrds. The massive reciever with matched carrier minimise any deflection that occurs between the barrel and the scope mount, which is essential as the barrels get to +24" or you just need a super stiff set up. The addition of the RHS charging handle allows easy use from a low prone position and minimises any excessive head and body movement. Construction is 7075 T651. Carriers are fully chromed to .mil level.
The assembly is the chassis we will be using to build the sniper grade 6.5 Grendel rifles that we will be releasing at SHOT this year.
For those who like to do their own thing these are available as shown, reciever, match carrier and RHS charging handle at a retail cost of $325 a set. Grant at G&R should be able to better this price

+1
That looks like just the ticket for a build I will have to do now.

I'm confused.... Do these work like a bolt gun? Are they available for .308 builds? Do they plug onto DPMS or Armalite lowers? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

No these are for the Grendel and can be used with the 5.56....and possibly the other round too;)
So no .308

In stock now, with a good supply going forward.
They are set to drop onto an AR15/M16 lower. per a regular upper.

Do you have a weight of this upper without Carrier?

We build the GSR line up un these recievers. The extra stiffness helps with the overall stability of the rifle under varying enviromental conditions and the charging handle on the side cuts down head movement if you need to operate the bolt from a concealed postion. (might want to paint over that shiny stainless color)

Mr. Alexander-
Do you have any specs/prices/photos of the new GSR line that will use this receiver? I'm getting ready to have a precision 6.5 upper custom built, but if you have a factory offering that would fill my specs, I'd rather just do that. Here's what I had in mind, let me know what you think:
20" Satern or Lothar-Walther fluted heavy barrel (KG Gun-Koted black)
Rifle-length gas tube
LaRue 13.2” FF rail forend
LaRue low profile gas block
Alexander Arms flash-hider
Alexander Arms Billet Sniper Rifle Upper Receiver/Match Bolt/Match Carrier/RHS Charging Handle OR LaRue Stealth billet upper/AA bolt/AA carrier
PRI M84 Gas-Buster
Anything you would change or add to this setup? Is this something you produce currently (or would be able to produce), or can you recommend a vendor who could do this build? Price and availability? Please let me know via IM if possible. Thanks.

Satern Barrel(5 groove 5R barrels) is the way to go...Deb, is great she answers emails pretty fast. I'm waiting on my barrel. If I'm not mistaken AA use's the Satern Barrels for there higher end builds.

Sorry it took so long to get to your inquiry. You might look at my post about a heavy three gun set up. This is basically the GSR20 but we have added the Flatland Forge comp and also a Magpul CTR stock. The barrel is a fluted 20" Satern model and might even be the one from the last post. Reciever is the billet and the handguard is our vented G10 composite. Unless you want a rails specifically for mounting stuff I would drop it to keep weight down. I would add a LaRue scope mount as a matter of course and maybe change the comp for a flash hider. The Gas buster is nice but the gun is timed out so it is not needed. Stock is your choice but we are seeing a lot more colapsable rigs going onto precision rifles because of the confines they are being used in.
Alternative would be to build up a GDMR type clone on a Satern 20" barrel. Grant would be your best source for this work. I use a standard reciever for my GDMR builds.

Thanks to BigAnt and Bill Alexander for their responses. I'm really liking the Satern barrels, especially after doing a little research; I think this is the way I want to go. Thank you both for your valuable $.02.
PS-Bill, got your IM and replied...thanks again.

Using the LaRue it will be necessary to delete the locking backside ring feature.
The sniper upper is thicker from side to side and the locking ring will not straddle the upper. Further, even if modified there would be no room for the screwheads to protrude back.
I am not planning on this even seeing hard field use, so I doubt it will be an issue -- but I'm a little bummed.

I am curious, or must be missing something simple. Since you are machining these and selling them as a matched set with the bolt carrier having the side charging function, why is there still a cutout for a charging handle in the back?

I won't speak for Bill, but two reasons I see:
1) How would you get the bolt out?
2) You can still use a standard charging handle if you wanted to charge the weapon.

You see, I did forget something simple. Forgot about getting the bolt out.

Are these set up to use a standard CH, or just open in the back for take-down?
Also, are they available with an M16-style carrier?
Lastly, have you thought about adding a dust cover?
