Hello,

My first post here in these excellent forums, been lurking for a good while...

Just got my Aimpoint CompM4, with the Tenebraex Killflash already installed. For those of us with a CompM4, have you removed the Killflash to clean the front lens ? I'm just wondering if there was a good way to remove the killflash without unduly scratching or scoring the killflash housing or the Aimpoint body. Seems like the killflash is flush with the Aimpoint front lens and is set tight. I guess I could just get my knife and try to pop it off...or...?

Thanks in advance for any help...
Jess

Is there notches on the rim of the killflash? Mine does and I just use the wrench tool that aimpoint supplies and unscrew it off.

Hi, Kimbo,

Thanks for your reply.... hmm, there are notches on the killflash but my unit did not have a wrench included (?). I guess I need to call my dealer or Aimpoint about it.

Thanks Again,
Jess

Correction the wrench in question is not supplied by Aimpoint. It came with my Larue Mount, I apologize for the confusion. I would try to find something you could use to unscrew it off. Maybe an ID or credit card..

The Killflash on my M4S is easily removed without tools. It's plastic so if you decide to use a tool, be careful not to damage it. I don't use the killflash as I find it a distraction. If I was in a tactical situation, I'd reinstall them. Since I go to a one way non combat range, I use clear lens flip covers on both ends and it's easier to clean.

Yup I left mine off to zero it in yesterday.

I prefer mine off. The better visability in dim situations with it off is much improved. I aint in combat so glare on someone isn't a big deal for me. I used to spine of a knife as a wrench to get mine off.

Whew... got it off. So this thing screws/unscrews..... If I had tried to pry it off which was my plan before I came to my senses and decided to ask for help in this forum, I would probably have scratched or damaged it.

Many thanks, Gentlemen, for your replies and suggestions. Much appreciated...
Jess
