Gents,

I think I can safely say that it is widely known that the NXS 1-4x would probably generate a lot more interest in this community if the FC-2 reticle was capable of visible daylight illumination levels (a la RDS).

Despite my best efforts to search here and elsewhere, I can't seem to locate anything definitive about the FC-1 illum upgrade that was performed for a government customer, nor (more to the point) if that was ever released for public sale. I could take the hit on battery life if the reticle itself were a bit more usable in this regard.

Are current NXS FC-2 reticles the same as those of a year or two ago, or have subtle lighting improvements been made? If not, are they likely to be made at some point in the near future?

... it has occurred to me to contact NF directly, but I thought perhaps one of our SME members or vendors was a bit closer to the action; that, and the fact that I'm still overseas makes that a somewhat less-efficient process. Whatever the case, it doesn't appear that a definitive answer is likely to be forthcoming anytime soon.

I also saw a post re: improving the illumination a while back (maybe a year or more). Haven't seen any info since.

I recently talked to NF about this very thing. They said that about a year and a half after the 1x4's initial release they had boosted the power of the illumination, but that it was primarily designed for low light and were not completely sure if it would wash out or not. I explained that I was looking for something in it's package to match my S&B to which he said he understood but that it may do that if you put the illumination to it's highest setting.

They also said that they had never produced an enhanced illuminated reticle for the Mil, at least that this individual knew of. From our conversation though I could tell I was not the first to ask about this.
