Is there any reason I should avoid getting a Gen. 2 Glock 17? The price is around $370 before shipping, etc. The price seems high but..

Truth be told, I have NO reason/use for it but I feel its one of those pistols that "everyone" should have. The fact that it doesn't have a rail discourages me but I like it because it doesn't have finger grooves.

I don't like it for home defense due to it having no light rail.
Um.. I have my XD9SC for concealed carry.
Um.. Range toy?!

Anyways, what say you?! Should I get a Gen. 2 Glock 17, just because?! What would you use it for?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Car gun?

Throw down?

IDPA?

Everyone should have a Gen II Glock 17, IMO.

I bought a gen 2 back in 1993, have had it since then. It has since run over 40,000 rounds through it. Still as accurate and reliable as the day I bought it. I'd buy another any day of the week.

If you're not buying it, I will. Where is it?

Truck gun. Buy it, replace all the worn parts/springs, and keep it and a spare mag or two mags in the glove box.

Wish I could find one locally. I'd buy it right now.

i'd rather have the 2nd gen. guns. don't care to much for the finger groves plus i think the 2nd. gen gun are made better.

well to start off with those are the guns that seem to go 100,000 rds on the original barrels, you don't hear of the frame rails breaking off on them. i don't know but i suspect that maybe just maybe they are using different steal for thier barr. these days. i know a few people myself included that have shot out barr. in about 65,000 rds. but if you ask glock the will tell you that you can shoot out a glock barr..

Our largest LE dealer had some very nice 2nd Generation trade-ins for just over $300... I am still kicking myself for not grabbing a couple.

Just picked up a pair of these, as well as a Gen 2 Glock 19. Did the NY1/3.5/Warrens upgrade and I've been splitting my practice time between it and my 3rd gen Glock 19. I'm liking the lack of finger grooves, and it conceals just as well for me.

$375 with two mags, if these are still around in a few months I may have to pick one up as funds allow. I hate when guns come with finger grooves built in, because they suck That's the biggest reason I ditched my A2 pistol grips.
