S&W 29 with 8 3/8 barrel. Traded a Springfield XD 3" in .40 for it. I still believe it was the best trade I ever made.

Picked up a TRP Operator yesterday, already had the VZ Frags on order and they came in today. I'll order a Harrison rear sight this weekend. This has been one of my "Holy Grail" pistols.

Another to add to my list is the Sig 516 in FDE. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw their pictures from SHOT 2011 (?). Bought the first one I saw about a year later. Used it in a three day carbine 2 class. Nice rifle, IMO.

Had to have a classic western movie gun so got a Rossi 1892 with a cowboy action job. The lever can load .38/.357 with one finger. Just a joy to shoot. But I learned what HAD TO HAVE is all about when a local seller wanted too much for a used IMI Timber Wolf pump .38/.357. I had never heard of it before. What a perfect companion for the '92. Found a NOS in box on GB for less than the local used one.

Not mine, but identical:

Back in the early 90's I just had to have a S&W "Shorty Forty". It wasn't a regular production gun but instead came from the Performance Center. However, at the time they were $700+ and that was just a bit much for me then. Never did get one and I could kick myself.

When I was a kid I just had to have the iconic ruger 10/22! Best squirrel gun ever made, and no stupid mag hanging down under the gun.

As an adult when I turned 21 I just "had to have" a 1911. So I went down to my LGS and purchased a Kimber Stainless II. I really wanted the TLE model (because that's apparently what LAPD SWAT carried) so of course it had to be better, but I couldn't afford it :(

Winchester model 1895 saddle ring carbine in 30-06. Kinda miss it, wish I hadn't sold it, but I still don't have a practical use for it and the primary reason I bought it was because it looked pretty and Theodore Roosevelt was fond of them. Slick gun, though… wish it shot to the sights.

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle wearing a walnut stock. Haven't picked it up yet and don't really need it. Don't really care for any of the laminated stock versions - which is interesting given that I generally prefer laminated stocks to wood ones, to the point where having an M1 Garand or M1917 refurbished, Cerakoted sniper gray, and set into a military contour black laminated stock actually appeals to me more than those same rifles in blue or park with a walnut stock. I suppose it gives me a rifle I can bring with me to most occupied territories of the US, though, and something I can carry in the woods without overly offending granola munchers, so it's not entirely impractical.

I HAD TO HAVE & REGRETTED -
Longarms
Ruger Mini-30 - Purchased due to AWB & I thought Ruger can make a 7.62x39 semi auto better than those Chinese,Hungarians and Bulgarians, right? Oh, so wrong…first trip out to the range and it choked like a super model eating a cheeseburger! Tried different Ruger factory mags, ammo, cleaning ,lube and voodoo! Nothing worked, zero, zilch. LGS sent it back to Ruger and when it came back I sold it and purchased a Bushmaster AR-15A-2 that got converted to my SPR after the AWB expiration.
Oly PCR- My first AR, I knew zero about them. literally every thing was wrong with the gun. Mag well was too tight, sights were frozen, sight tower roll pins were way oversized, pistol grip/saftey detent spring was bent, trigger guard fell off after first 10 rounds. The best was when I put rifle on bench and the barrel /handguards moved visibly. Sold it, with full disclosure, to guy who was going to rebuild it as he was an armorer in Army when he was serving.
ATI AK clone milled receiver. Screws hold receiver together and have a tendency to loosen after, oh about 40 rounds!!! Loctite is its friend and I can't trade it for a six pack of Fresca.

Handguns -
HK USP 40 DA/SA too big for my girlie hands
92F 9mm - Used purchase that developed a crack in the frame after 200 rounds. Who knows what type of ammo the previous owner used
S&W Airweight J Frame / Scandium (I think) in .357 Mag.Impulse buy in December one year, sat in safe for 6 months afterwards. Took it to range , I put 3 cylinders full of ammo then said ouch and enough. Sold it the next day and purchased a combo NIB Sig P-226/228 9mm both from West Germany with proceeds.

Had to Have & love
Longarms -
Just about every AR Ive purchased after the Oly.
HK-91 shoots way better than I can and is super cool
Steyr USR - just plain fun to shoot.

Handguns-
G17,G19 - after changing sights they are awesome
M&P 9 & 9C - Apex trigger and Trijicon HD sights, also awesome
The above mentioned Sigs - my only remaining DA/SA guns that shoot like a dream and have never bobbled once.
a S&W Model 66 in .357 for $175 seven years ago because this guys wife "hated" guns and he had two days to get rid of it. He was a neighbor and I thought it was a Charter arms 38 because thats what he had two years before so I said I'll give $150 for it. He countered with $175 with ammo (250 .38 & 200 .357) Boy was I surprised when he showed it to me later that day. I offered more to be honest and fair but he said he was cool with the price he just wanted it gone. Turns out he was screwing around behind her back so the sh!( storm was gonna happen soon so no firearm would be better for both ! I'm not a big revolver fan but this one shoots great.

I buy and sell guns and never get too attached. The only one I HAD to have was my dad's Soviet SKS bringback from Viet Nam. My uncle had been holding on to it since I was a little kid since my mom didn't want guns in the house.

I lusted after the H&K P30 for about a year. Was able to buy one from a friend who had practically never shot his. The gun feels great and I love the quality. That said, I just picked up a Glock 19 last weekend. I've never liked Glocks, but i just couldn't keep myself from buying it. Everything about it is just right. I'll always hold the P30 as a favorite DA/SA, but I have a feeling I'm going to be shooting Glocks whether I like them or not.

I would love to get a Remington 700 with the AICS, but I just can't justify it since there really isn't anywhere I can shoot it at any distance. Ranges around here are scarce enough and none are very long.

Sig X-5 Allround. Matches my defense pistols, but is super accurate and soft shooting. Typically 1" to 1.5" at 25 yards.

KAC SR-25 ECC comes to mind. Currently the DD ISR is my favorite lust target.

One that I just had to have...

Springfield Armory EMP in 9mm. It's a very fine handgun overall. I'm very surprised that there hasn't been any subsequent variations made available such as a 4" or 4.25", railed dustcover.

Kimber TLE/RL II, several people tried to talk me into Colts and Springfields but it was just to cool. The Marines had Kimbers so did LAPD SWAT so it had to be the shit right? Nope it is my biggest gun related regret to date. It was accurate, beautiful, and felt great but that was it.

Before I was 18, just had to get an AR. This was the 1990s during the Clinton Ban so I bought a Bushmaster on my 18th Birthday.

Now? Colt Python and Smith-Wesson 27. I guess I can add M1 Garand and HK45ct to the list too. Man, I regret not buying a Python years ago when they were cheaper.

HK P7
CZ RV-85 Flare Launcher 26.5mm
Beretta 87 Cheetah
Beretta 92G Compact

I bought those only because they're discontinued and hard to find. The RV-85 is brand new and it just sits in the box.

AK and a 1911. Due to the ammo situation I shot alot of 7.62x39 this year.
