Anybody recommend a good castle nut wrench that will work on my 6920 AND the new mid-length that I'm building. I see where some of them are advertised as not fitting the Colt nut. I know Brownells seems to have a good one(and fits both), but it sure is pricey. If someone here has used and liked it though, I'll spring for it if I have to.

Thanks,
Skip

I just used a regular one from Brownell's I believe on my 6920 when I put on the ASAP. It's somewhat tight, but it worked with no problems whosoever. The Colt end plate came right off no problem.

is colt's castle nut special?

my armorer's tool comes with a castle-nut slot (that also works for DD's lite/RIS barrel nuts) and a spanner.. i think the spanner is actually more useful anyway, though- more torque and easier to keep on the nut. can kind of chew the nut up a little, but i always replace the nut when swapping REs/endplates anyway. install only needs like 15ftlbs of torque, so no chewing there.

I used a generic one on a colt Match Target a few weeks back. We broke a cheap alum. one first. Popped the tip right off of it.

I think just get something like looks/feels like it will hold up.
