I was 99.999% set on a P220.........BUT NO.....I had to go shoot an H&K USP, the compact I'm pretty sure since the mag cap was 8, and now I'm conflicted. I've read enough in this past week to know I still don't know which one??????? Thoughts? Experiences? Primary purpose is for home defense, concealed carry, travel, etc.

No. It was an H&K USP .45

No, why are you settling for 13 year old design with an obsolete rail when you haven't even considered more modern offerings from HK, e.i. the HK45 series and S&W with the M&P?

S&W Model 22 is for you.

The USP 45 is an excellent choice. But I too, think you should try a HK45, before you commit to either or the Sig or a USP.

A USP 45 is my night stand gun. With GG&G rail, X200 & Mepro sights. Right now it's loaded with Hydra-Shock 165 gr JHP.

Nice. That's some bad company for any creepy crawlers that might try to infiltrate your compound.

Thank you.

Before that it was a Glock 34 with Silver Tips and M3 Light. Safe to say I upgraded.

The creepy crawlers have to pass my German Shepherds.

I love a good German Shepherd. I don't have the land/space for one so I ogt the next best thing. A dachshund. A mini female......and her radar and motion sensing ability is fantastic. She gives us more than enough warning when anything's within 25 to 50 yards of the house. My better half a.k.a. The War Department wants a Shepherd to keep her company though.

i packed a USP 45 full size for a few years.. second only to my current carry glock 17, it's the best shooter i've ever had, regardless of caliber. i effin loved that gun.

i personally dont like sig.. my complaint against sig is the same complaint most people have about the USP- just plain doesn't fit my hand. besides, the USP 45 fired faster and smoother than a sig 226- for me, at least.. 220 vs USP- no question.

get whatever you shoot best, though. most will probably preach against the USP.. it's just not a very popular gun for some reason.

My everyday carry is a P-220 Carry SAS with the SRT trigger and a Grey Guns action job, so I'm kinda biased. Sig or HK are both good choices.

The 220 is a big gun for CC, you have to have good leather and build your clothing around the gun to be effective at conceallment. As Clint says" It's comforting, not comfortable".

As some have suggested, I would look at the HK 45c.
Sig quality isn't what it used to be. HK is still, and always will be, HK. YMMV

Something else to consider, How many spare mags will you need? Sig 220 mags are way cheaper than most HK mags.

My best friend has a P220 and it felt fantastic in my hands and I loved shooting it. Then 2 weeks ago I went to the range to shoot my 9 and rented the HK. WOW....that thing was a perfect fit, weight, recoil, etc. Hence the dilemma. I can get a very good used P220 for $500 w/ case, 3 mags, etc. I know the HK is around $800 or more.

if you like the USP, you should give an HK45 a try.. they're hailed as possessing everything that's great about the USP but much improved ergonomics.

West German sexy vs "they don't care about us Civvies"!

If you don't own a P220, you owe it to yourself to live a little. There is nothing more satisfying than whipping one out and saying LOOK AT THIS MOFO when you start talking 45s.

The only HK I have is a P7. Love it and my Sig.

Shepards are awsome!

Both pistols you are considering are good choices. I've owned both, and prefer the HK but as said either one should be a good choice.

Good luck.
