We have a proposal floating to send three officers to SWAT I at USTC. The intent is for these officers to bring back relevant tactics for our patrol division to use in high risk incidents.

We do not have a tactical team. If we were able to get officers on the county's decentralized team, they would have to go through the in-house course.

Is this course the best bang for our bucks? Any reviews of the class?

Thanks and be safe.

You may not see a review for this course because it is completely revised. The origial course this was based off of was High Risk Warrant/ Hostage Rescue. That course was good, but there was a LOT to cover in a 5 day period. The SWAT 1 course is designed to take a patrol officer who has never worked in a team environment and train the fundamentals in live fire houses and force on force scenarios. We discuss some legal issues and assault planning and execution as well. By the end of the course, the officer is confident in CQB.
