I was going to buy a Safariland 6305 Holster and than I saw where several had modified the shroud. I saw where I can buy the shroud smaller version separate. I also found a 6365 duty holster. In STX Tactical. I am wondering if I buy that holster and the 6304-10 shroud with I have the same quality holster. On a slightly different matter does anyone own a 6360 or 6365 in the better holster quality compared to STX Tactical Material. Not LE so really don't want Basketweave or Plain. Just really wondering what the difference in Holster quality is and what is the difference in 6304 and 05 series in the tactical. Just the quick release strap buckle? It appears a 6304 is a few bucks more than an 05.
I have used the old finish BW 6365 for a Glock 22. The 6365 is a lower ride version of the 6360 (about 1.5" lower), and is a level 2+ retention holster. I.e., it will have the tension screw, shroud, and a thumb lever internal ejection port retention. You can also order it with the "Sentry," which will make it even more secure. Total overkill for the use you are describing, IMO.
The newer STX finishes are the same holster, only with the pattern (if any) ingrained in the polymer holster material itself, instead of being a laminate. In other words, you will save a few ounces in material weight and the holster will be a little thinner. Besides, the faux leather on the Safarilaminate products will not hold up to rough field use (like a class or military use). The new STX Tactical finish is a basic, matte black, and could be painted if desired.
As for the QD leg buckle, there was a discussion on this exact topic on AR15.com recently. The general consensus was that it was unnecessary, and just made the drop needlessly long. I think if you search the gear forum you will find most prefer a drop-leg rig to be as high up as possible.
Unless you are using some type of IBA/IOTV or similar armor, the 6365 (or 6285) should do you just fine.
I've been using Safariland duty rigs for work for over 16 years. I'm currently using the 6280 and ALS variant in the "fine tac" finish. Best duty rigs on the market imo.

The STX vs. plain vs. basketweave is just a finish thing. My holsters that are all three fninshes seem to be of the same quality and durability. Just different finishes. I would recommend against a drop-leg rig unless you really need it. I get a 6004 issued to me and I am going to switch to a drop loop adpater with an STX holster, instead, for SWAT stuff. It will clear my armor and be less of a pain in the butt than the 6004.

Have you ever used one with an Eagle Duty Belt? I am wondering about getting the buckles through the holster loops.
Thanks.
