View Full Version : How would you sling this?
Here's a pic of my SBR.

I want to buy a sling for it. I have never had a sling on anything other than a Bolt Action hunting rifle, so I am looking for thoughts. I'm Left Handed so I am wondering..... I'd like to go with a Vickers Two Point... from what I've seen and read, thats probably the one to get. IF I used the QD attachment on the Omega Rail, it's gonna mean the sling is real close to the Ejection port (since I'm a Lefty). Would this be a posible problem? Would I be better of using the front factory sling attachment oR buying a DD QD for the front of the rail (Instead of using that rearward one)?
How about as far as mounting the stock portion.... would you use a QD that plugs into the CTR (I'm switching to a CTR instead of the shown MOE Stock) or thread it thru the stock or what? Is there a way i can skip the Vickers QD and not have that QD buckle or am I stuck with it and/or want it anyway?
Help!
Thanks guys..... Pics help too if ya got em!
Noveske endplate or Magpul ASAP then backed up by a Magpul MS2 or EMDOM Gunslinger. These two slings allow you to have one point and two point configurations...

I'm running a ASAP/MS2 combo on mine with a Daniel Defense rail mount QD for 2 point needs. This seems to work out well for what i need.
like this (http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=33734)
I use a single point (whichever you prefer) on a DD rear receiver QD mount.
I'm not normally a single point fan, but on a rifle this length it works pretty well. So far I like it.

I am a fan of adjustable 2 point slings like the VTAC, VCAS and Boonie Packer slings, especially for LE or mil considerations involving handcuffing, climbing and supported shooting.
For SBRs and home defense the ASAP plate with a single point should meet nearly all your needs.

I also would use the gun for some hiking in the country and shoot some game here and there. I think a 2 point would be better for this use as I could cinch it up tight if need be.

Jon:
Sounds like you have it figured out! Yup, if you're looking for a tight cinch, I found the VTAC cinches tighter than the VCAS. Still, you may want to check out the Boonie Packer adjustable two-point slings. I read about them from one of Rob S's posts, and they are made in the USA! We know money just flies through our hands, and this might be something worthwhile that some snaps!
Again, for your intended uses, a BP adjustable two-point should work just great, without the premium price tag of the VTAC and VCAS. I have both -- and at the end of the day, it's all the same concept with a different execution...
The Boonie Packers run under $20:

Using the QD socket on the ejection port side won't get in the way when you are actually running the SBR. Let's hope you don't run into many communist squirrels, or Al Qaeda coyotes and prairie dogs!
Nice stick!
Have fun,
Alan
I ordered a VCAS.... and a little pile of 556 75gr TAP to have on hand! I have a gun show to do this weekend... but next wekk.... yes! Finally will get to sight in the new Pony and see how she does!! I love the T-1.... it makes it so fast to get on target. (Those neighbor kids can really run fast!) J/K of course! :D
