Anyone ever use one I tried a search. I have two rafter shark belts I love but thinking of one for my other gear.

Sorry Liger

If you meant Liger gun belt, then yes, it's what I've used since I started carrying. It's a great belt that won't roll and will spoil you with how easy it is to clean. Very resistant to abrasion and chemicals of all kinds. Most people won't know any better (most probably won't realize you're wearing a belt even if your shirt's tucked in), but every so often someone'll notice that the buckle is pretty odd.

The 'buckle' is a turn-off for a lot of people. At first I thought a conventional buckle simply couldn't work due to the belt's resistance to bending in ways leather can, but if Beltman can manage it on their belts EdgyGear shouldn't have a problem with it on the Liger.

I have the Galco Matrix belt.It appears to be the same/similar material as the Liger("Ligerthane" =" biothane"?).

It has a more conventional buckle(nice and solid so far)...It's a fraction of the Liger's price from what i've seen.

The only thing i really have to compare it to is leather department store belts that i pressed into service(strongest/stiffest i could find).:(

...It's definately a huge step up from those at least. In every way.

I'm surprised at how well it's held up for a $25 belt.I've worn it daily for many months(6-8 i'd guess) and it's still like new.Worn tight enough to support M&P9,spare mag,Leatherman Charge,Benchmade 950 Rift,SF G2L,and all of the junk that rides in my pockets(wallet,phone,keys,etc)...Only very mild deformation in the standard slot/hole(typical weak point in my other belts).

I've got a liger belt I've worn for about 6 months now. It's holding up just fine and gives great support for my IWB G27/26 I wear in a Comp-Tac holster. My only complaints are that the material it's made of is somewhat grippy (but on the other hand I like it because the liger doesn't slide around at all) so it is a bit more time consuming to thread the liger through my pants belt loops and the buckle is a little hard to get used to buckling at first, but you get used to it after awhile. If that Galco Matrix is made of similiar material as the liger (because the liger seems so durable), I'd would definately be interested in giving one a try - especially for that price.

The Galco is definately "tacky" or "grippy" like you say.It almost feels sticky against your pants and against itself. The material has a stiff "snappy" feel to it.

I researched the Biothane material a little before ordering. All i could find was talk on forums about using it in place of leather for horse gear.Apparently it's popular for that purpose...Hot debate between leather and biothane with the show-horse crowds.

I cant say it's as good as a high dollar leather gunbelt.Or even a kydex reinforced belt(as i havent yet tried them)...

But it blows away any typical store bought leather belt for keeping your gear up.

I've been using a Liger belt for a few months.

Pros:

extremely durable
easy to maintain
stiff
doesn't scream "gun" if the buckle is worn in an exposed condition
lots of color combinations so you can have one system with versatility

Cons:

thinner than traditional 1.5" belt, which means that it gives more wiggle room for holsters and gear, especially stuff on kydex clips/loops
leading end is squared rather than tapered, making it harder to loop through your pants and gear
hook-style closure can be tricky, especially if you want to cinch the belt tight
QC: at least from my sample of two belts, they're both supposed to be the same length but one is clearly almost 2" longer than the other

IIRC, the early ones were shorter. later ones were made a bit longer. of course, if you got both at the same time that doesn't apply.

I agree with Todd's points above.

The biggest plus for me is that this belt will not be falling apart anytime soon. Its pretty damn sturdy.

I have had other belts (riggers) that over time will start to give out a little bit of slack with different movements. This meant after extended periods of wearing the belt you had to retighten it. This does not happen with the Liger.

It is tricky to tighten it down though. To get it really tight you have to suck in your gut, do the belt, and then release your gut.

I've been using them since they came out several years ago. I still use all of them. The main hole I use on the belt I use most of the time as stretched out a little, and frayed a little, but since it's covered by the buckle, it's not an issue.

It was my first carry belt and is still a favorite. The buckle did have a learning curve but the belt is very stiff and stays put. It is my belt of choice for business casual attire with tuckable holster when going to the office. :D

How do these compare to a 1.5" Wilderness Instructor belt both dimensionally and in terms of stiffness?

Thanks.

I've had one for a few years now.

I really like it. Many of the comments are correct. The only thing I can add is that it is nominally 1.5" but mine measures more like 1 and 7/16 inches.

They are super durable and mine looks nearly as good as the day I purchased it and this is after wearing it daily for years. One of my cats also likes to chew on it -- he hasn't made a dent.

It fits in well if you have to dress formally -- it kind of looks like a banana republic style belt.

It doesn't roll. I've only tried on one wilderness belt and I'd say the Liger resists rolling better.

The clasp is a little tough to close but once it is on, it is on. The faux leather texture makes it a little grippy and it holds onto holster clips well.

I don't really have to dress up for work anymore so I've moved on to a 1.75" belt. I think the wider belt holds all of my carry items a little more comfortably and sturdily.

I still pull out the Liger for special occasions though.

Yes! That is how I do it! :)

I've been wanting to try a Liger belt ever since I read M4Guru state that he used them operationally. However after reading this thread, I decided to order a Galco Matrix belt instead. For the price of the Liger, I could buy almost three Galco belts.
