Form 4s were sent in when I was home on leave for her. I don't have any actual "photos" of her, but I did cobble together an MS Paint "shop" of her with most of the fittings that are visible at least. I just wanted to share because I'm extremely excited to get back from the sandbox and play with my new toy. I forgot to do the Dynamic trigger and BAD-ASS though.
Everything is bought and paid for, sitting at the house waiting on me other than the can and the rifle. Forms should be back in Feb I'm guessing, and I should be back shortly after that.

Update on my last post. I found the Pimp my gun app that people have been using. I figured I would show a better picture of what my SBR will look like. I won't post any more after this one until I actually get pictures of it. I know you guys are interested in seeing real pictures of bullet hoses rather than renderings.

I believe that an SDN6 (http://www.advanced-armament.com/product.aspx?pid=865) is in my future to build this new 8" shorty out properly... just will need to wait a while to build up funds for yet another Can.

Cory,
What's the ETA on your Mini4? If you already have or when you do get it, can you speak to the differences "to the naked ear" between it and the M42K? And which do you like better?

ETA SHOULD be early December according to the average times listed for my examiner. I have not fired any rounds through either of them yet. I had the Mini4 and the M4-2000 on my rifle today. The difference in weight is pretty decent. I am glad I picked the Mini4 handling wise. The rifle with the mini4 is 30.5 inches OAL. Only two more inches longer with the M4-200 but it quickly becomes front heavy. I am venturing to guess that this can will not be super quiet on my 10.3 but I have attached AAC mounts on all of my other 5.56 rifles.

Looks like the setup I'm going for. I have a Noveske 10.5" w/switchblock coming and I plan on setting it up to look like yours except that I'm going to have a stubby VFG. I've gone back and forth on which suppressor to use. Very interested in the Mini4. Would love to hear your results
Thanks for the kind words guys! I am making a few changes. I have decided on a Geissele S3g and a Surefire M300a. The balance is great with the UBR and the Mini4 combo. I can't wait to shoot it! I went back and forth between AFG, VFG and nothing at all. The AFG seems to be it for this rifle.

Sweet looking setup. I've been thinking about the mini for my 12.5". Any concerns about increase wear and tear on the mini on an SBR? My local rep is adamant mini's shouldn't be used on SBR's.
Otherwise, that's badazz! :neo:

The Mini4 will work fine with any size barrel. I looked into that before my purchase. Talk to Jason at AAC if you have any further technical questions. He posts on here frequently.

Yeah, I've chatted with him on the forums here and he said they are gtg on SBR's. Mentioned mag dumps and everything. Ultimately, I'll follow his advice and buy the mini. Just want to make sure I'm not getting the company sales pitch.

Specs on the rail barrel in FDE please
Barrel is a 12.5" SS 1:7, by Noveske. The upper is a MUR and the rail is KAC URX II.
I sent everything to Lawmen's for a cerakote finish. It came out very well and matches most FDE attachments.
To windy to do any real longer range shooting, so I just slapped my crappy beat up Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 in a not so great 1 piece mount and shot my 12.5 at 100. Needless to say, with my 69gr hand load, this baby shoots sweet! My EOTech should be here Monday, but I'm leaving this scope on until it dries up and I can get targets in the field out to 1000, and then it's play time with more than just this.

Here's my issued HK 416. It's a 5.56mm select-fire rifle with a 10.3 inch barrel. Knights rail covers, Magpul EMag, and EOTech sight (I'd like to have an Aimpoint T1, but the EOTech is issued to me). Suppressors are in the works for the whole Team, but right now this is it. Shoots like a dream.
Sorry, but I first had to attach a JPEG attachment to this post but thanks to the help from others I have the picture posted a couple posts below. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your help guys.

Here's my issued HK 416. It's a 5.56mm select-fire rifle with a 10.5 inch barrel. Knights rail covers, Magpul EMag, and EOTech sight (I'd like to have an Aimpoint T1, but the EOTech is issued to me). Suppressors are in the works for the whole Team, but right now this is it. Shoots like a dream.
Sorry, but I haven't figured out how to have the picture appear on the post. I'm working on it, but until then click the link to see the pic.
That is a bad ass issued weapon!
Glad you like it brother. I love it. Half my Team is issued HK 416's and the other half is issued LWRCI M6G's. All are 10.3 inch barrels, select-fire, in 5.56mm. We'd all have the same 416's but believe it or not the trade-in on MP-5N's didn't go very well with HK so we went with the LWRCI instead for the second half of the Team. LWRCI gave us a fantastic trade-in for the MP-5N's that we couldn't say no to.
Like I said suppressors are in the works, but probably at least a year away. The piston system is a dream to clean. I can shoot all day and the inside of the receiver is still clean and oiled. We are lucky in regards to rifles... we have the best of the best.
Now if we can just get rid of our Sig P226 40's and get Glocks, M&P's or 1911's we'd have it made. LOL.
Figured out how to post the picture. Thanks for the info brother.

Anyone can get an NFA trust, regardless of age, background, criminal history, nationality, etc.
To be approved for NFA items using a trust, you need to not have a criminal history, be 21 years old, and be a US Citizen.
Does that clear things up? You don't need a business.

Is the XPS or EXPS EOTech? How well do your diopter irons witness with your EOTech? I've got a set of HK diopter irons for my rifle and the EXPS3-0. I'm extremely curious as to how they witness and how you like it.
Thats the XPS EOTech. The EXPS sits too high due to the lever mount and the HK diopter sights can not co-witness through them. With the XPS the iron sights are viewed in the bottom third of the EOTech window.

Both the HK irons and the EXPS are brand new in their respective packaging. I figure, I have another 4 months until I even get home. I might as well figure these things out before I go putting stuff on my rifle and having to take a price hit on it.
I'm honestly not that worried about the price difference, I may just trade somebody the EXPS for an XPS and a GG&G accu-cam. No way in hell am I trading the HK irons.

I'm not so much worried about the EOTech, but with the HK irons, are they tall enough that a 12 o'clock mounted TLR-1 will clear the sight picture through them?
Updated somewhat. Just got a new BFG sling with Mount n slot attachment, it is a sweet set up. Also trying on some optics from a big brother for the day.

Viper- Unfortunately I don't have a TLR-1 light to put on the rail to answer your question. I measured the front sight. The top of the front sight post is 1 & 1/8 inch above the top rail. I think your light is going to block your sight alignment if put at the 12 o'clock position. Sorry I couldn't give you an exact answer.

I think your light is going to block your sight alignment if put at the 12 o'clock position. Sorry I couldn't give you an exact answer.
No worries brother. I appreciate your measurement. Doing this whole gun building thing from 9000 miles away from the parts you're doing it with adds a whole new level of entertainment to it. :jester: I appreciate your measurements. As I expected, I'm fairly sure the irons are going to be too short and the light too tall and wanted a second opinion.

Epic MK18 look. What a great weapon!
I'm not so much worried about the EOTech, but with the HK irons, are they tall enough that a 12 o'clock mounted TLR-1 will clear the sight picture through them?
I think you got your answer already, But I can confirm that the TLR-1 is too tall and there is interference.
I know for a FACT though that the SF X300 will work in the 12 pos.

Yeah, I had figured out that the TLR would be too tall, but thank you for the info on the X300. That works out ok, I'll just use the TLR on my pistol and look to pick up an X300 for the long gat. Thanks.

Yes it does, but I also keep it back because I like my thumb right there.

SPR/m4... 12.5" barrel? 9" MWI tube??
Close - 11.5" Daniel Defense lightweight barrel, upper and BCG. 10" MWI handguard, DPMS (gasp) SBR lower, Vltor Imod stock, EOTech EXPS-something, plus a bunch of odds n ends.
Hope to run some detailed tests on POI shift with the LW barrel and the 762SD, but it probably won't happen until the 2.5-10x Viper PST comes in (it won't stay on the SBR but it'll be good for some group testing).

I know a guy that has that can on a 10.5". It's really quiet.
Those cans look like the SPR/M4's and it throws me off. I think I'll have to go with a 12.5" since the SPR/M4 slips over the barrel 2.5".
Thanks.

My primary AR. Just got the Troy rail back after I couldn't get it to keep from rotating under recoil. To Troy's credit, James in customer service just asked me, "How do you want your label, mailed or emailed?" They determined it was faulty and replaced it.
I was really interested in trying the 12 o'clock light position and I like it very much but after everything that had to be done to get there - grinding FSB, removing taper pins and hopefully getting them fully seated on reinstall, buying a large bench vice, tracking down blocks to borrow, borrowing a side grinder, having the rail twist under recoil, shipping it back and so on - I'm not sure if I'd do it again.

To be clear, this is a work in progress first and foremost. As more manufacturers are added the Chart will be updated.
Process by which manufacturers populate this Chart is BY THEIR OWN HAND via an online questionnaire that they complete. Trust, but verify, is in effect and as always, caveat emptor. Any manufacturers wishing to be added may contact me directly via email.
Models included should fit the following description, outlined in the questionnaire:
Choose a model that is as close as possible to the military issued M4. flattop upper, standard front sight base, carbine-length gas system, no rail systems, etc.
As this is being pushed to publication prior to the original target, the legacy Explanation of Features will have to suffice for the time being.

Its true. Its Hockey tape.
I hate aftermarket grips
Thanks. How is the grip?
I actually set that pic as my background as i liked it so much.
Well thanks buddy. Glad you like it.
Hockey tape is the only thing I have ever liked.
I used to wrap my nail gun with it when I was a roofer.
Its sticky even if its wet, It doesnt change the grip size.
I cant stand stippling. And Hockey tape wont permanatly change the grip.
Its cheap and it takes a minute to change out

Well, the Draco pistol to Draco SBR conversion project is finally done.
Once I got my ATF Form 1 back approved, I was able to cut the two rear trunnion rivets with a hand drill and carefully tap the rivet pieces out with a punch.
Problem was, to install a “regular” or full-stock rear trunnion, the old rear trunnion holes were useless and new holes had to be drilled. Not only that, the old holes needed to be welded up, dressed, and the receiver refinished to make it look like new. Of course, the new trunnion had to be riveted in.
Thanks to Troy at In Range C2, Inc. in TN for doing the welding, riveting and refinishing for me! While I have a hand drill, hammer and some wrenches, etc. in my urban apt., I sure don’t have a machine shop or welder!
Now all it needs is an Aimpoint Micro T-1 sight to finish it up.
The East German new surplus folding stock locks up tightly with zero wobble. Very rugged. Great ergonomics. Very compact, yet with just enough barrel to allow for decent ballistics/energy downrange.
Here are some pics of the finished pistol to rifle conversion project and I hope this has inspired you to do something fun with your Draco!:

I have tried both the breakout and the blackout. I prefer the breakout for shorter barrels. Yes they are louder but you do have a suppressor...... Recoil impulse is drastically better with the breakout IMHO.

No, but the breakout acts as a blast baffle and is better for shorter barrels.

It will lengthen the service life of the first baffle in your suppressor most likely too.

It will take some of the wear off the blast baffle of the suppressor. The picture below is of my Brakeout on a 10.5", and I have a M4-2k. My blast baffle is still rather pristine, but you can see that the Brakeout is rather worn.

Slight downside to the Brakeout is if you are shooting without the suppressor the vertical column of flame can be a bit distracting in lower light.

I've had limited time on it since I'm waiting on reloading equipment to make some hand loads. (Currently only setup to reload 5.56) I've only gone through a couple of boxes of remington factory loads, but so far it has been very accurate. Low recoil and surprisingly quiet with 220 grain sub sonic rounds. Handles just like any of my other AR's and using the same mags is a huge plus.
Here's a short video of what she sounds like...

What trigger are you using and is that a 7"?

What trigger are you using and is that a 7"?
It's a Geissele Super Dynamic trigger. I don't know if it's the Combat, Enhanced, or 3-gun though, but yes, it's a 7".
Seaslug, has anybody said anything to you about KNS pins with the Geissele triggers? Bill has said that you shouldn't use the KNS pins because they're slightly smaller than the Geissele pins, and GA's pins are actually stronger than the KNS offerings. You're better off getting rid of the KNS and going to stock Geissele with your trigger, broseph.

Cool picture, but I weep for your glass. Any damage from the slag?
Lol no.
Have you ever used a grinder like that?
Those sparks cover my arm sometimes. Its not so bad.
It gets it dirty but thats about it. Its like a dust

Couldn't the particles have a crude sandblaster like effect? They are hot aswell. Theoretically of course.
Used to be a welders helper on a pipeline job for a couple summers. Get a big chunk down your neck, it ain't feeling so "dusty". hehe.

I used to weld at a junkyard when I was younger.
Had a piece of slag go in my shoe and it burned through my pinky toenail.
Talk about PAIN! lol it sucked.

And yes, I'm aware of all the controversy re: using the KNS pins with Geissele triggers. I can tell you in all honesty, there is ZERO difference in the feel and function of the trigger with the KNS pins. I believe Bill made those comments because he is proud of his work (as he should be), and he didn't want anyone else mucking with it. I had an extra set of KNS pins lying around, and they just look so darn pretty with this setup...lol. For the record, I've got SSAs in 3 other ARs, and I used the Geissele factory pins in those.

As a farmer, we weld and grind shit everyday. Welding slag and grinder sparks are way different. Both can still eff up your eyes though. I still wouldn't do that to my Trijicon's, no matter how badass it looks. And it does look badass BCMjunkie.
And I use KNS pins with my S3G trigger. No issues with mine.

This gun is an eye sore and needs to be destroyed. You should send it to me for proper disposal. :jester:
Good looking stick brother. The index clips make the forend look really clean. Your stick looks pretty close to how I set my forend up on my PWS MK110. I went with an AFG and a Gear Sector mount for my TLR-1 though. It mounted the light a little more centrally, and a little bit higher.
I agree. Those Larue index clips are really growing on me.

I had debated going with other rail panels but after having seen a few rifles with the Larue clips, I decided to bite. They're easily the lowest profile option and just look really clean. I had also decided to try something along the lines of a 6 o'clock mounted AFG and a Larue handstop at 3 for a thumb rest. It'll be a couple months before I can put it to the test to see if I like it, but I'm definitely digging the clip look.

I "won" a set at Pat Rogers' class last year and finally had something to install them on. I thought they were stupid but that I'd try them anyway. Turns out I really like them, but I installed them on a Daniel Defense rail so it will probably spontaneously combust at any moment.
:nono:

Check out the Surefire ones too. I have them on this rifle and love them. They're low profile and those little ridges stand out just enough so when you grip the rail it adds grip and they look good too. Pretty cheap to top it all off.

Beautiful carbine there Trident.
I wish I had SBRed my KAC lower instead of my Mega billet, oh well.
Thanks brother, nothing wrong at all with a mega...every one I've seen has had impeccable machining. I'm pretty sure that's there MO.
Being a proud Satan hander, the IWS lower was worth it, however now after owning a few of them, they have kinda ruined me in terms of switching back to a traditional lower. It's not the lefty mag release I really miss, it's that bolt release on the IWS lower that has ruined me.
