Anyone else going to post in here? We had a few posts in the old section but nobody has migrated over here yet?

We have permission to use this as a general "hometown" forum within limits.

How about a "hi, my name is..." thread here? Name, location, shooting interests & disciplines. That way if a new person joins, is from (for example) Jacksonville and sees someone else in his area that shares an interest in IDPA they can have some idea of who to get in touch with in the local area. Let's try to limit the information to firearm related things that may help another person local to us.

so...

Name: Rob
Location: SE Florida (Palm Beach and Broward Counties, mostly)
Training: I typically do all my training at the Southern Exposure Training Facility (http://www.southernexposuretraining.com/) outside of Lakeland
Competition: I run a local carbine match and carbine drills/practice and also shoot IDPA with the local club (TSSA (http://tssaidpa.us/wordpress/)) and am on the board of directors. I have been trying to get out to more IPSC matches locally as well.
Home Range: Markham Park most often, but I have been known to go to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office range on public range days as well.

Give it a little time - this is going to roar to life soon.

Hi Rob, everyone.

Name: Hayden
Location : South palm beach county (Boynton/Delray)
Training : Fairly new still to training, I have a carbine class (Bushido Tactical)
under the belt (Sept 2008) and took Magpuls Handgun one course this past
February. Both classes were taken at Pop Deans Gun Club off U.S. 27. It seems the owner will not be hosting classes in the future, so I'll have to go to Lakeland or Orlando for future courses . I try to get some handgun trigger time at Palm Bch shooting Ctr twice per month (but its strictly static shooting), I perform dry fire drills/draws at home.
Carbine trigger time is about every 2-3 months at either Delray
Shooting Ctr or Palm Beach Sheriffs range when open to the public. I also
perform carbine dry fire drills at home.
Competition : none whatsoever, I'm trying to get some things squared
away at home so I can start attending Rob's Tuesday night drills, hopefully on a
regular basis.
Ranges : As stated above (handgun) Palm Bch shooting ctr (most of the time), (Carbine) Delray Ctr and PB Sheriffs range.

Hello to all.
Name Ron
location orlando
Training no courses as yet. {2 boys playing travel baseball } :D
I try to get to the range at Teneroc a couple times a month and would love to get togather with some m4c members to meet new friends and learn more.
Weekends are good for me and some nights if I don't have any baseball games with the boys. My 12 yr old is starting to get interested in shooting also so I would like some help with his instruction as well.

I'll schedule pistol and carbine classes as soon as my schedule allows it.

Please feel free to PM if you'd like to dry fire or shoot together.

Hope to meet you all :)

Name: Joe
Location: Tampa bay area (the CP is in Land O Lakes)
Training:Oother than what Uncle Sam taught me, not a whole heck of a lot of formal training. The will is there for training, but the crappy economy and three kids says no. Action shooting at my local club (2nd Amendment) when I can.
Competition: None yet. The desire is there. But the closest range is about an hour a way. For me thats a big hurdle.
Home Range: Its split. Primarily Dade City, but I also go to The Smoking barrel for pistol and Hernando Sportsmans.

Experience: 11 years Brit Mil, 5 years Brit LEO, official Close Protection experience, IPSC shooter.

Guns, as such, were banned here in the UK about 10 years back but I mange to shoot a couple of times a year with everything from SA pistols to military carbines. I read about the Volusia shoots and will most likely be a regular to those once I am moved over.

Winter Garden, FL
I shoot IPSC and tactical 3 gun (not the IPSC version) at Central Florida Pistol Rifle club monthly. For those of you who are in the Orlando area and are looking for an outdoor range that kicks ass and keeps getting better PM me. I'm a member there and wouldn't mind making some aquaintences in the area to train with.

I've trained with Bushido Tactical under instructor Wade Rorich
-Pistol lvl 1 and 2
-Defensive Carbine lvl 1 and 2
Hope to take more classes this up coming year.

I put close to 7k worth of ammo down range in the last year and since I'm reloading now I want to double that number in 2010. The more scenerio driven trigger time I have to train the better off I feel.

Hey Everyone,

Name: Al
Location: Southeast FL (Dade and Broward)

No formal training whatsoever (yet). Just an avid recreational shooter... Been shooting at local ranges (typically Pembroke Gun and Range, Trail Glades, and others) but I'm currently in search of a better outdoor range for rifle shooting. Taking carbine and pistol training classes eventually is definitely a priority for me. Would be great to also meet some local guys for some shooting, and learn a thing or two.

I shoot mostly at Saddle Creek Park and Tenoroc, but prefer Saddle Creek. I would love to find a range that allows something other than static shooting.

03-01-2010, 02:10 PM
Name: Bobby

Location: Citrus County

Training: I do most of my shooting on private property. I haven't taken any classes yet (budget constraints) but I'm hoping to take some this summer. I practice what I've gathered from sites like M4C, Arfcom, GOTX, etc. and the Magpul AOTTC DVD I got last year. I had finished firearms training at the police academy I was attending before a (now former) friend of mine had an ND that struck me in the elbow and forced me to quit (at least for the time being), but didn't learn much I didn't already know there.

Competition: Looking to start doing some FDCC, CFDCC (depending on what fits my schedule that month) and IDPA matches.

Home Range: Private property, occasionally Robert Strickland Shooting Range in Daytona, Hernando Sportsman's Club (haven't been yet but I'm planning on it), etc. I prefer to shoot where I can go at my own pace instead of having a static range and the rules that go along with it.
