View Full Version : Which Aimpoint to get?
Im going to order an Aimpoint but still deciding what one to get. Im either going to go with ML2, ML3 or M2.
Is the ML2 good enough? I dont need night vision, and 10,000 hrs battery life is a lot.
Is the ML2 a good optic?

What kind of setup are you going to put it on?
The only difference that I'm aware of between the Comp M3/ML3 and the M2/ML2 is that the battery life of the M3/ML3 is 5x longer. I have both an M3 and an ML3 and I love them. The thought that I can leave them on for five years without worrying about the battery. I wouldn't turn my nose up at the M2/ML2 though. Other than the battery life I can't tell the difference bwetween them and the M3/ML3 series. The micro's (T1 and H1) are pretty sweet too, and if I were looking to do a lightweight build or an SBR, I would look long and hard at one of them.
I have a Stag model 1 so I wont be using the carry handle, will mount it on the flat top rail. It wont have a rear back up sight so I'm not worry about rail space so much.
Im going to go with the Larue combo.
I might add magnification in the future if so I'll probably buy a cheap Primary arms 3x. I heard they are pretty good instead spending another 500ish on a Aimpoint magnification.
My only experience with Aimpoint is with the T1. I like it a lot it on both my AR's, and AK's, if I need magnification, a LT 649 works well with the 3X and gets you what you need inside 200 yds and beyond...
That said, I don't know what your looking to do with your rifle, only you can decide what will work best for you...
As far as going cheap on glass, I have seldom seen that work out well in the end... Buy once, cry once... Quality is always the way to go when at all possible.

True. I bought the Burris 332 Prisim when it came out early last month. It was a total POS! I took it to the range once. The reticle was canted, just cheap junk. I sent it back to Cabela's, and decided to spend the extra cash and splurge on a quality Aimpoint.
I had a gut feeling about the Burris, and almost went with eotech or aimpoint, but decided to get the Burris cause everyone was raving.
Actually Aimpoint C3 is the best choice if you don't care about NV capability and diving. It has the same guts as M3.

I have them all, C3, M2, M3, ML3, M4s and the T-1. While I really like the M4s and the T-1 for everyday use I love the C3. Its the sleeper in the Aimpint line and will save you some bucks so you can get a better quality mount. You will not be unhappy with the C3 at all. There are more C3s in my future.

I decided to get the Ml3. Yea it cost more but I figured the super long battery life, and the rubber cover was worth it over a Ml2 and having to replace batteries more and buy the rubber cover, was better off getting the ml3.
I got the 4 MOA. Most of my shooting will be at indoor range, or ranges no longer than 100 yrds.

Grant is absolutely correct regarding the C3. It is absolutely a very rugged optic and when placed in a quality mount like a LaRue it will retain and maintain zero as well as the CompM3 or ML3. The difference between the CompM3 and ML3 is 50 additional layers of lens coating and lower LED Red Dot settings for NVD use. The difference between the ML3 and the C3 is water depth pressure rating.
