Ok first off I have read the stuck thread on variable power optics, I am having trouble deciding on an optic. I would ideally like an optic with caibilities of 0-300m something that gives me the ability o\use the one optic for everything. My main choices are:

Leupold MR/T 1.5-5x
Night Force NXS 1-4x FC2
IOR Valdada 1.1-4x CRT
Trijicon TR24G 1-4x

I wouldlike the optic to be as compact as possible, be quick on target, and have the ability to hit at various ranges.

The Night Force is the most compact, The Leupold, and Valdada have BDC reticles for use at multiple ranges, and the Trijicon is the only one I know that has a visable lit reticle in day light. I would like to keep the cost of the optic and mount under $1500, so the Short dot is out befor someone reccomends it.

What should I do?

Any reason you are not considering a 1X with a 3X magnifier?
If you have a reason that it won't meet your needs, fair enough, just throwing it out there since I find them very usable for anything that doesn't require excessive hold-off.
They are vary fast from 1X to 3X with the durability and usability of an Aimpoint at a pretty good price-point.
The biggest down-side is the higher weight.

As far as 1-4 variables go, I have heard good things about the Burris XTR. gotm4 has been competing with one, and it has a lot of very nice features not found on many optics.

Of the choices listed, I would recommend the Trijicon TR24G w/ the Green Triangle. F2S's recommendation of the Burris XTR 1-4 is also an excellent scope. I know a few guys running them, both on their duty rifles & competitively with great results.

I played with the Nightforce 1-4 at a gunshow. The glass was amazing and I think it was 50x better than my Leupold on my Rem700. For the money I think it's pretty nice

I think a 1x with magnifier would do and I have thought about it but I would like a BDC for shots at varying ranges. Which is why I am not completely comfortable with the Nightforce FC2, and TR24G because there is no ranging or BDC capibilities. The Leupold and IOR Valdada are the ones I am leaning toward The Valdada either the 1.1-4 or the 1.5-8

Good reason, one that I definately relate to.
Lack of a BDC or ranging turrets make many low-powered variables limited in application beyond 300 meters (depending on application, of course).
