Also great with some Primed Gauze.

After watching the TacMed Solutions video on wound packing and holding/working with the PriMed, I'm beginning to see that packing the wound is of almost equal importance to properly applying the dressing to stop bleeding:

I should have had you cram a 6-inch wrap in the box.

I definitely think so, which is why I have made it a point to put a significant amount of emphasis on this in all training as well as make packing material an integral part of all med load outs I carry afield.

You would be surprised how many people over here have never heard of wound packing. All they have been taught is to throw an Izzy on it. If that one fills up with blood, stick another one on top!

Everytime someone mentions wound packing, I can hear an audible cringe and handwringing from ambulance aministrators.

Maybe they got their MAST pants on too tight? :)

There was a device back around 2003 that looked like a jellyfish and was intended for wound packing. I think it absorbed water and expanded, thus applying pressure. I don't think it ever got approved, and the inventor went on to something else. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Could the six-inch wrap be cut in half with trauma shears, in an emergency, to make two usable three-inch wraps? Might these be used with PriMed in treating multiple wounds?

I think you could cut it in two with a pair of shears, the difficult part would be the plastic clip on one end. If doing this I would suggest doing it while rolled up.

So the wraps have a clip like the Olaes. Interesting. The training bandages we received have no clip on the end.

Yes, the wraps have the plastic clips, both 4 and 6". I am not sure why the trainers dont have the plastic clips.
