Magpul sight question - backwards?

I already know that on the magpul fold down backup sights - you can mount the front sight backwards if needed.

However - while the instructions claim you shouldn't do that with the rear sight - I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

I was thinking of doing it to get more space between the two sights.

Anyone ever do this? Other than the smaller fold down aperture facing you instead of away - it should work I would think.

I don't understand: based on the MBUS mounting method and overall construction, mounting the rear sight backwards would decrease your sight radius, not increase it. Or am I misunderstanding what you are trying to do?

Look at the pic below - I could mount it all the way to the rear, and it wouldn't stick off the rail from behind. It wouldn't be much change, but it would move it a little further to the rear.

See how reversing the front gave me more room?

Yea, I get what you're saying for the front sight, but I didn't realize you weren't working on an AR. On an AR, mounting the rear sight in the standard fashion moves it as far back as it can go. Mounting it backwards would just move it further forward. I didn't think about how it would play out on another gun's rail system, though.
