Can anyone recommend a mod for the 1100 to make loading easier? I'm basically a shotgun newbie and have been researching loading techniques for 3-gun, but I'm having a hell of a time pushing the gate open on my 1100 Competition Master. The carrier release feels very stiff. I'm sure my technique is part of the problem, but it seems extremely hard to open the gate compared to the videos from Noveske and USAMU on Youtube.

I've searched this thread with no luck.

I appreciate any help.

Look for someone that can install a Shortened "Easyloader". I have one on my 11-87. But they also fit the 1100. The only shops I'm sure offers that mod is LaRocca and Vandenburg Custom. If I get to a computer I will try post up a picture.

Dave's Metal Works Easyloader (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=786587). If you have a few files and maybe a punch you can install it yourself.

I thought the difference between having it and not was fairly dramatic. It's much easier to operate than the standard recessed unit.

Shortened version. The old Gunsite Smitty did this one.

Sorry to bring this thread back but I have a question about the shortened easyloader.

I just installed an easyloader on my 1100 today and have been practicing reloads, but am finding that every once in a while it pinches my thumb pretty badly.

I was thinking of taking it apart and shortening it like shown in the above picture but was wondering why it is not like that from the factory? Is there any disadvantage to shortening it? I was thinking I'd only shorten it about a 1/4" or 1/2" until I saw the one above which looks like about an inch or so.

What do you guys think? Go ahead and do it? As short as above or not quite as much? I'd appreciate ANY input.

Thanks!

I grew up shooting 1100's and practice makes a big diff the more you train or use it the easier it will get and almost become 2nd nature to you. I love the 1100 and actually prefer its gas system over the 1187 but thats just me.

I have one of these on my 11/87 but it is full length(and looks to hang lower on the reciever). Is this one just shortened one or are there other mods done to it?

This was discussed at brian enos forums as well. Apparently the long DMW longer has enough inertia at recoil to bounce around and cause some issues.

I actually looked at that thread and some others on the Brian Enos forum and found some good info. I went ahead and shortened it and it's working great!

Here it is on my frankengun that started out a long time ago as an 1100 trap gun.

- Shortened LOP stock
- 26" skeet barrel
- nordic components 8 round magazine
- mesa tac sidesaddle
- (I'm still waiting on a nordic barrel clamp)
- Dave's Metal Works Easyloader (shortened)
