Ok, I admit...this is an odd first post, but...oh well.

I've been looking for an EOTech to go with an SBR build that I'm working on and have decided on an XPS. In my search for the best price I stumbled into a few references of an EXPS2-0. A google search yielded very little info and I'm wonder if anyone here can provide something.

Specifically, what makes it different? SWFA.com mentions a QD mount but I'm curious what that means exactly. Is it an ARMS mount? A knob?

Any info/pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Great forum btw...

:)

This is the first I have heard of it so I went to the EO Tech website. They do show it

I believe it moves the buttons on to the side of the optic. I think it also comes with a quick detach mount

Thank You eguns, I feel pretty dumb right about now. I went to EOTech's website but completely failed to notice where the EXPS was listed...sigh.

On the good side, I have eliminated ANY doubt about which sight to get! (I was waffling a little bit on the Aimpoint T-1). The EXPS2-0 fits the bill perfectly.

So my question would be is: how good is the integral mount on the EXPS line? Does it hold and RTZ? Anyone know?

bump.

I'm interested in hearing feedback about this new mount also.

eotech website says it RTZ within 2 MOA

Return to Zero: Repeatable to within 2 MOA after re-mounting

Consider an OPMOD (http://www.opticsplanet.net/l3-eotech-opmod-exps2-holographic-sights-limited-edition-red-dot-sights-exps2-0-opmod.html) (EXPS2). At $495, it has the side buttons, 7mm riser, and quick-detach mount. The Optics Planet graphic comes right off.

Yeah, I think at $495 with the new riser mount design, the OpticsPlanet "OPMOD" XPS2-0 is hard to beat price wise.

Hmac- if you don't mind my asking, how did you remove the "OPMOD" graphic? A dab of carb cleaner?

But how do the EXPS and XPS rate against the 5 series?

I've owned both and would never own a 5xx series again.

I own and use both, see no reason to go with the 5xx series other than you can use cheap, readily-available AA batteries.

+1. or +2 actually

I have two of these Eotechs now, one on a 6.8 SBR and the other on a 300 BLK SBR.

I have a T1 collecting dust in my safe. I just prefer the reticle and FOV on the Eotech.

The EXPS is hands down the way to go. I

Likewise. I relegated the T-1 to backup status. Bought another OPMOD, but I had this one Cerakoted ($25) at Alternative Coatings.

I own 3 of the 5xx series and 2 of the XPS series, and I think the 5xx series will be discontinued within a year or two because there is simply no need for it any more. It is bulkier and heavier than the XPS series, and customers want smaller and lighter.

Regarding the integral mount, I hope that it proves durable and has good RTZ. Until someone else goes to the trouble of proving that, I am sticking my Eotechs on Larue mounts. :)

Looking at the EXPS2 and EXPS3, is the included 7mm riser and quick release mount required for its use? Or can you remove the QR portion and use the unit at the standard height in order to absolute co-witness?

Thank you in advance.

-Yes

-No

the XPS, not EXPS, mounts with screws at standard cowitness height.

Thanks for the fast answer. So that means, if I have read the website correctly, that there is no NV capable option with side-mounted controls and CR123 power source that does not have the 7mm rise?

Hmmm... this is really complicating my next EOTech purchase.

Been a couple days so you probably have your answer, but you are correct.

There is NO CR123 model that has NV compatibility AND side mounted buttons, WITHOUT the riser/QD

Thanks sjwolf, that seems to be the consensus. Was hoping to keep the same height as my other EOTech without putting it on a raised mount. I think I'll just go with the EXPS3 and not sweat the riser.
I appreciate the reply.
