neat !. I need that when I go play "Bear Grylls" in the mountains :)
how many strikes can you get with one ?
In the thousands. Fastfire gives no solid number on the smaller size (vs. the MAXX) but I feel comfortable saying 3k strikes.
Very cool.
Mike, nice to see you expanding your product lines and growing your business. I think I need to go over to your site and put together an order soon. Nice collection of stuff.
Thanks Rob,
Part of expanding the line is obviously financial, particularly in this economy but a huge factor is making sure that each product goes through a thorough evaluation. Literally every item on our shelves has been through some level of hands on tinkering and torture to see just how durable and functional it is. Usually I will order one or two and play with them a while and then start talking to the manufacturer.
While it is important to make a profit so that Austere Provisions Company will have some staying power I look for products that are dependable before I focus on the profit margin. It would be very easy for me to just throw stuff up on the site because it has a 30% mark up or looks really cool but I have been in the field with that gear and had it fail and I dont want to have my name or my company's name associated with stuff like that. Granted, eventually all gear can and will break but I try and find the stuff that really shines and leads the industry. As many may have heard me say in the past, I refuse to send a piece of gear out the door that I wouldnt pack in my own gear bag or that of a friend, family member, or team mate and that evaluation process takes a little time.
As I get over my recent surgery and am able to get out more you should see more items added to the line up as it is easier for me to test stuff out and put it through its paces. I have a lot of projects and products sitting on my desk that need to be thoroughly worked over so I am stoked about what the next few months brings.
Thanks again,

I saw the booth at SHOT and picked up a package of the fastfire.
It's terrific stuff.
Now all I need is one of those little machined containers done in multicam or some other 'lost if you set it down' pattern. :D
