Nitrox- is that coyote with OD KG on your rifle?
What's on the front of your gear, outside of the mag compartments? Shotgun shells?
No, that is the new tactical Ranger Coyodrab. If you were tacticool you would know that.
Yes, shot gun shells. Shot guns suck, they are my arch nemesis.
good reason to have the shells then...

Ok, just getting switched on to the whole mid-length thing. A couple questions...
Nitrox, can you throw out some data on your build? It looks like a non-16" barrel, can you confirm?
Jeff, is that dremel work on your TD rail covers? If so, did you have any particular method??
Thanks...
Jeff, is that dremel work on your TD rail covers? If so, did you have any particular method??
Thanks...
I use a hack saw and a miter box (at least that's what I think it's called). Helps cut them straight, I then use the sanding wheel on a dremmel to smooth out the rough edges and take off a little more material if needed.
Hope this helps
A miter box looks like this:
http://s7.sears.com/is/image/Sears/00936317000?rgn=0,0,640,640&scl=2.56&fmt=jpeg
I just put the Tango Down rail pannel in the box with a mark on it where I need to cut it and use the saw / miter box to make a straight cut.

Looks good! Where did you get that Burris Ar Tripler? Haven't heard they had one before. Is it water and shock proof? How's the eye-relief?
You can get it from optics planet and a few dozen other retailers. I picked mine up locally because I wanted to see it.
The packaging claims that it is waterproof, shockproof and fog resistant. The truth of these claims is unknown to me, as I do not see any specific ratings.
The eye relief seems to be 1-2 inches, which is okay, but could be much better. I looked at an Aimpoint 3x in the store and it appeared to have better glass and an eye relief of 2-3 inches. At 2.5X the price, it had better though.
The AR Tripler does have a nice feature of elevation and windage adjustment knobs. If your red dot is lower or higher than the AR Tripler, the knobs allow you to adjust your red dot to the center of the field of view.
The knobs also make the overall shape kind of odd. The Aimpoint 3x has the advantage as far as ergonomics, as it would fit your hand better when moving it out of the way.
It think the AR Tripler was a good value. Would I rather have the Aimpoint 3x? If price were no object, then yes. If it were $100 more, then yes. If it were $300 more (Which it is), then I cannot personally justify the difference in cost when it does the exact same thing. YMMV

I have since put a Troy MRF-9 rail on it and highly recommend this rail system to all. The worksmanship is outstanding. It is very easy to install--you don't have to remove the barrel nut, FH, or front sight assembly, and it is rock solid when complete. I will try to post pics of the rail system installed soon. Thanks, Grant!

The Magpul UBR stock seems to be the most popular stock on this thread. Anyone know who has them in stock?
I think it would be great to have a stock with the cheekweld in the same place everytime--on a standard carbine stock, I always end up with my cheek on the receiver extension instead of the stock when the stock is fully extended. The LMT SOPMOD seems to be better about this than a regular carbine, but the UBR looks great!

They are (or look like) first gen KNS anti-rotation pins.
They do just that, keep the pins from sliding out.
Is it a 'problem' if you don't have them? Probably not. But it can prevent one from occurring. $29 piece of mind.
On that, USMC03, how are you liking the LaRue BUIS with your M3? Considering it myself or a Daniel A1.5.

That picture was taken in early 2006, I sold that carbine a couple years ago. I have been running T1's / Comp M4's for the last 18 months or so.
That being said, I never had a problem running a LaRue BUIS with a Aimpoint ML2, ML3, Micro T1, or Comp M4 / M4S

Got one, just not pictured. Also wears a po'boy and larue mount some days.
Sorry for the delayed response....Been kind of busy
How does this rifle balance out with the Vltor carbine stock?
The EMOD balances well with the mid-length
Can the harness be removed from that rig? I.E. does it have fastex type buckles on the front where the harness attaches to the chest panels or is it sewn in?
Yes the yoke can be removed from the body of the harness. The yoke attaches to the body via an A strap set up, that is adjustable (can can be removed) via a tri-glide buckle. Look closely in the pic and you can see what I'm refering to.

Not a bad setup then. I would prefer if it had QD buckles but it's a pretty good setup for courses and includes hydration as well. I'm torn between this and the ATS M4 harness..I'd plan to add some pouches for pistol mags but I'd have to spend money on a hydration pack for the ATS. It'll probably come out close to the same price but the BCM looks nicer and I like the split front.

My Recce is a Daniel Defense complete upper, this was built by DD before they were making barrels or rifles and has a 16" mid-length Lothar Walther LW50 barrel, with a Wylde chamber. Sub MOA accuracy and nice and light due to the contour. Probably my favourite.
Cameron

Cameron has such beautiful rifles, purposeful as a razor's edge! Form definitely follows function.
My 16" has a terrific Krieger mid length SS 1/7 barrel (JTAC, few yaers ago) machined for the OPS 12th. It has zero POI shift hot/cold, clean/dirty, suppressed/or not. Accuracy rivals my Krieger 18" SPR Mod0's barrel, but is a lightweight contour and is my favorite rifle. Fairly tight chamber I suspect, but never a failure with MK262, 5.56 75gr T2, BHBB 75gr, Q3131A or Win/LC/IMI M855. Took about 120 rounds, but it surprised me when it went from a MOA shooter to a 1/2 MOA shooter at that point.
The 14.5" is a WOA SS "Recon Scout" 1/7 twist mid-length, CLE machined from a Wilson match blank. Heavy at the chamber, then fluted under the handguards it is very handy and has excellent accuracy with a variety of ammo, equalling my old Noveske heavy Afgan with 75/77gr ammo, and outshooting it with 55/62gr military loads. The downside is POI shift when mounting the SpecWar2 suppressor, but the shift is consistent and repeatable, directly down to 6 o'clock.

How much have you shot it with the mount along side the muzzle device like that? Any effect on the light? Have you tried firing it like that with the light on?
No problem with it. There isn't a direct line between the brake port and the lens of the light, and I've never had anything beyond cosmetic damage from muzzle blast hitting a pistol or rifle light. It's also not nearly as close as it looks in the picture. I've stripped and repainted it a few times but I don't recall ever seeing damage to the anodizing.
I almost always shoot with a can anyways, and the light spends just as much time, if not more, on my shotgun.
The light is mounted back on the left hand side of the rail, and it's a LaRue Battlelight, so it's not going anywhere unless I want it to.
