Thanks, I didn't change it too much to keep it SOPMOD. Something about them (although many would argue outdated) still allures me.

I think it was the cold. It was 12 degrees when I dropped the MFT. 2 degrees when I dropped the Pmag.

The MFT mag was brand new. The Gen2 Pmag was a couple years old. But not abused.

How do you guys take some of these pictures? It's almost like you've got professional cameras and little photoshoot areas.

On a very basic level to get a good pic use a real camera and not a cell phone. Try to shoot on a an overcast day or in a room with the blinds closed using artificial light you can control. Run the pic through some kind of photo editing software (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2335822,00.asp) and do basic crop, tilt, sharpen, saturation, contrast and brightness (you may not neee to do all these).

A piece of laundry bag.

I actually took the safety and FCG out of the lower and took the BCH and charging handle out of the upper and wiped it all down with acetone before I started. Paint stuck really well.

I usually just hold 'em up by the sling and blast 'em....

Started with a solid coat of Khaki, then came back a couple hours later and added the green and brown with the net.

I assembled a new 14.5'' upper and threw it on my 5 year old SR-15 lower. FH is pinned, with the missing half in NFA jail.
Waiting on some pieces for an Arisaka m300 setup.
I'm very happy with how it handles and ergonomics, but haven't shot it yet.

Some of mine I picked up the day I took the pictures but most I clean real good then take care of all the dust and scratches in Photoshop. Haha.

The pictures I take of mine are always shortly after purchasing and usually before any shots are fired, but not always.

I still need an optic on the rifle I posted above, as I can't use irons effectively at even 100 yards any more. I picked up a sling and front QD sling mount today and installed them on the rifle. So there is also some prep work that needs to be done before shooting. But I do take extremely good care of my rifles so you're not likely to notice many handling marks even after thousands of rounds.

So, they get used and used often, but the photo's come first, for documentation purposes and when I spend good $$ on something I take good care of the item.

I do most of my shooting indoors because the outdoor range in my area doesn't allow people to shoot while standing. Believe it or not, I only clean my MR after shooting suppressed but rarely otherwise.

Slim pickings in south FL. The one I frequent is the best one in the area and even allow members to shoot from the holster, rapid fire and do quick reloading exercises. The rifles I shoot the most are my 10.4" MR, 9" 9mm AR and PDW 7.5"... All SBR.

There's one further south by my lowered VW won't make it because the range is off road. The range I mentioned that doesn't allow anything that isn't seated for rifle... Is full of morons. My HK91, Remington 700 and AR10 are the only ones I shoot there.

Thanks guys. I'll have to give some of those a shot. Kind of irritating to bust out the $1,000 camera, play "GI Joes" with the rifles to get them all setup and then have the image hosting site resize them to the quality of a cell phone photo from 2008.

That is the first rifle I've seen that is set up nearly the same as my Precision AR- PRI Delta carbon fiber handguard and UBR stock with the thick buttpad. I don't have the side charger upper though

Well guys, I just added AR-15 #31 to my collection. It is a Rock River Arms LAR-15 A2 HBAR with the OD furniture. It is in excellent condition. I traded a buddy of mine a Saiga .223 (AK conversion) and five AK-101 magazines for it. I also pocketed a few dollars to boot. This will make a second A2. I am already in the process of building a 20" A2 Gov't model (BFPU finish) that will be done next Tuesday. It will be AR-15 #32. I do plan on keeping the OD furniture on this one.

This will likely spend it's life as a range/plinking gun, and didn't break the $1000 barrier ($990 OTD - don't know if that's average or not for this particular model). Does have the "F" marked FSB.

Now I just gotta figure out what type optic (if any) would be best suited for a rifle-length range gun.

I'd rather this thread not degenerate into the whole "does it meet of exceed the TDP?" thing. Suffice it to say that FN seems to have a generally good reputation, and the FN-15 will probably do fine for most people that buy one. Fit and finish are certainly first rate, although I know "how well does it work?" beats "how well does it look?".

I picked my colt up as a "back to basics Iron's rifle" that was stupid simple and could teach people the fundamentals of marksmanship. Works great, and my former marine buddy's love it. I think the rifle has potential to be more than that if someone has the mind to fit it with an Omega Rail, bipod and good glass with match ammo. Then again, you could just build an SPR at that point. It's fun, bottom line. Best part: it's Colt.

Recent BCM KMR lightweight build - one of a few BCM promo uppers purchased. Sits on an LWRCi M6IC (full ambi including bolt release) lower, it came fully kitted out but I swapped in the SD3G trigger and BCM Mod2 (more upright) grip, which I prefer over the standard. It replaces an Aero/Blue Teal configed ambi lower and is the bees knees, comparatively. I typically run 45* levers but haven't swapped these out yet, need to either move them from another build or pick up another set. The Comp M4 is my buddies, he was letting me try out, normally run a T2 on top. Pretty happy with the build, much lighter/nimble than my standard 16" S&W/Troy setup.

Voodoo Tactical 36" Double case - avail at Midway, Amazon, LAPoliceGear, etc... Nice case, I prefer the 5.11 but couldn't find a 5.11 double for the longest time since they stopped making them for a time. Of course now 5.11 started selling it again under the VTAC MkII name lol...figures. I have the 5.11 36" single and prefer it normally. Double bags get very heavy when loaded down with 2 rifles and ammo!

It's shares the basic design with the Condor and Drago models, with minor pocket differences. It's pretty much identical do the Drago, while the Condor has removable molle pockets on the outside instead of stitched ones.

Ok here's the LWRCi/BCM build again, with some of my gear back on it. Also changed it over to Surefire equipped upper, put my T2 back on along with a few minor changes - MFT stock and DD Fixed Front sight. I like the LWRC Compact Stock, but its a rattle trap.

It is probably still more indestructible because of its larger size but that weight difference is crazy for the same sight picture and dot. I rarely pull out the M4 anymore since I can get variable magnifications for the same weight with other optics. Just my .02.

Good points, weight is why I chose the T2 for this build, actually. In comparing the T2 and M4 side by side this week, I noticed a few things... To me, anyway, the M4 dot just seems slightly crisper. I think I mentioned I do have a slight astigmatism, so that may a factor here. The M4 has a slightly larger FOV, but also has more "black" around the sight picture. You also have more of a "looking through a tube" sensation with the M4, vs "looking out a window...well, a small window :)" sensation from the T2. The FOV difference actually pays off when using the X300U light at 12pm mount b/c you barely see it with the T2, but with the M4 it does encroach into the sight picture.

All and all, the T2 will stay on this build... but I will keep my eyes open for a used M4/M4s if one happens to appear in the EE :).
