Not as "glamorous" as some of the other rifles here, but I love it. My go-to rifle:

Nice! I didn't realize SIGs could take AR platform buttstocks - all the ones I've ever noticed had their sidefolder.

Yep it's a sully stock with a tango down A4 QD adapter.

The basic line of SIG rifles still take any AR stock.

Took off the extended bolt release and the DD offset QD sling mount. Replaced the OD grip with a FDE one.

http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb82/sgtpile/firearms/P1010273.jpg

Extended bolt release was fast but I found it too cumbersome. Was quite in the way when I moved my finger from outside the trigger guard onto the trigger.

ohh and, BCM gunfighter. Mmm...

When using the BAD lever with your LMT lower, do you find that the lever doesn't protrude to the other side as the bolt catch as much? It feels like it on mine since the LMT bolt catch is different than a GI one you find in a normal parts kit.

The lever does not protrude that far on the other side on my LMT as well. However, it is still enough leverage for me to actuate so I do not feel it is an issue.

pcauwels - I am using the MCTAR-01 but the MCTAR-04 works too and has a more polished look on the other side of the fsb if all you are using is 1 light.

Does the BAD contact the side of the upper receiver?

I am running BADs on two carbines with LMT uppers. My primary carbine has a flawless fit whereas my secondary's BAD contacts the upper and partially engages it but allows for normal cycling.

Looks a little front heavy with your lighting. The extra weight may slow you down on horizontal target acquisition. The Surefire X300 or X400 if you want a laser may drop weight.

I get your point. I prior ran a M951 weapon light, it was way too heavy. I switched to the scout and it cut weight big time. I will admit that the gun is a little weighty in the front compared to a slick setup. I use NVG’s at my company so I like to run a light ready for IR and unfiltered light too. My forward grip controls the weight fine for me. I transition between targets with no problem. However, it would probably be easier with a less heavy setup. I could go w/ double mini surefire's w/ a LaRue double light mount, thought about that a bunch. I will probably run that setup on my next build. I get a good workout running this setup so I get aupper body workout and shooting practice at the range.HAHA

Got the Troy front sight on Monday so the irons arent sighted in. It's been in the single digits this whole week and I sighted the T-1 in on Saturday with 10 rounds. I left it in the trunk overnight (below 0) and shot 140rds on Sunday with no malfunctions other than the optic shifting 1-2" right.

I bought a pack of XTM panels for $10 locally (before tax, ) but ordered 2 more of those and 3 of the TD SCAR 6" panels from Brownells which are getting delivered tomorrow.

It is. I haven't had a chance to really run the rifle yet as I just assembled it a few days ago and my local range allows only loading a single round at a time, and shooting off a bench. I can say though that shooting off the bench the rifle basically doesn't move when I pull the trigger. Next weekend I'm gonna have the chance to get out and shoot it like it's meant to be shot.

new to the forum but here is my first build. finished about a month ago, plan on keeping it stupid simple with irons and possibly a mounted light but nothing more. I have replaced the GGG backup with an A3 sight for elevation.

Built for less than 600 total.

Those are the Magpul "C" series lowers, and aren't available. At least not that I've ever heard of. The "A" and "B" series have been released in very small amounts as complete weapon systems by Noveske Rifleworks. The Magpul billet lowers were done as a small run, and won't be done again.

Hiya----It's the L1 Lumamax. It has the electronic control for the LED that allows for 18 lumens on low power and 100 lumens on high power. An easy push of the button gets the low power and pushing it all the way in gets then higher power setting. It's pretty easy on the batteries also. I'm not sure of the price now but two years ago when I bought it the price was $175. It's the best light I've ever owned:-)
Oh you can also turn the rear cap and turn it on either setting for constant on.

It is a Midwest industried 1.5" bolt on rail section with a 1" scope ring. The light (Surefire G2 LED) and mounting was under $100.

If you go this route, don't crank down on your mounting bolts too much. I did just a little bit (it made that part of the handguard bulge out just a tad) and that is why you see a small gap between the upper and lower handguards just under the light. I had already put my locktite on so I didn't bother to take it all apart again to fix it. It doesn't really bother me.

You didn't cut it off just so you could mount your light there, did you?

I'm not Bobby, but it could be a Bushmaster O.R.C. (http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_BCWVMF16M4ORC.asp) ("Optics-Ready Carbine"), which comes out of the box that way. Since this is the pic thread, here's what mine looked like NIB (it later got cut down by gotm4 and put under a rail):

I think (and really hope) you're right. That makes me feel much better. I've heard of the Bushy ORC's, but never actually saw one. Until tonight I thought I had seen them before around a year ago during the height of the AR craziness, but apparently the salesman at the sporting goods store lied to me when he pointed out a Bushy "ORC." (or most likely he didn't know what one was either)

I haven't seen too many lefty uppers like that, though. And I've never seen an ejection port rotate upwards as opposed to downwards... that one's new to me, and as usual I learn something new damn near every day here at M4Carbine.

I still think it's not so wise (or practical) to buy all of the Magpul furniture and other aftermarket accessories before investing in a quality set of back-up irons, but that's just me and I'm likely coming from a very different mindset.

Anyhow, I'm interested in the specs of your blaster, Bobby, whenever you get a chance, man.

Semper Fi,

-Paul

Though this is not my rifle, mine is set up nearly identical. I am fairly sure the light mount is the Midwest Industries front sight base light mount. They sell a pic version and a universal rail type version for mounting the TLR or X200/300. I really like the mount.

Semper Fi,

Good morning Paul, thanks for the input and the comments. Got the BUIS close at hand if I go out, but for close in work in a dark house at night that light does the trick. It pops off in a second for versatility. And yes I cut off the front sight, it was in my way, but that rail there works just as well. It is a Stag weapon, thus the lefty exit port. Did some improvements with the staking and such, but so far a very reliable weapon. Probably more reliable than the shooter. While I'm at it, thanks for your service to our country brother.

My wife took this picture for me while I was away around Christmas. She knew it would cheer me up. May use it for Christmas cards next year. Enjoy.

I tried my hands at stipling some of my Magpul XTM's, a pmag and my AFG

What'd you use to do the stippling?
