you know that all we have to do is click the tan bar and it shows in original size, right?

I am VERY happy that the staff has limited the image size this way. Some people link to images with no idea how huge they are.

I'm sorry, but there is no reason to have board code resize to 640x480. If it was 800x600, I could begin to understand why, but 1024x700 or so is viewable on every monitor I've seen in the past few years.

Yes, I'm aware that it can be changed via user settings, yes, I'm aware the viewers can click on an image bar to enlarge the picture.

The problem with clownfish posting 3000xwhatever size images should be dealt with, and not by slapping a 640x480 image on the screens.

I can see both sides of the discussion and understand why it's in place. I do however see NO reason why it should be any less than 1024 wide as that's pretty much the standard for minimums these days. If there must be a resize (and I can understand why since some people can't understand how HUGE a 3k photo is) then it should be more reasonable and I feel that 1024 should be the minimum and that's what we did on another forum. Seems more reasonable anyway but what do I know... I'm just the FNG here.

Agreed, 1024 is the standard as the MINIMUM average screen size we assume people have (back when I designed websites). That said while we can set the board NOT to re-size, it's a setting that's kind of buried and you wouldn't find it unless you were told. Hell I didn't know it was there till someone told me a few pages back.

COMPLETELY disagree. Better to start small and let those that want to work their way up to whatever they want. Either way, I'm glad that it's at least an option now. I don't get the big deal about what the default starts out as either way.

I too like the auto resize feature...it saves me from having to edit my photos to different sizes for different boards, and like you said, if someone wants to see the full size pic, all they have to do is click. But for those wanting to skim through long picture threads, it is easier to view with everything uniform in appearance.

I'd suggest posting it here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=642. Honestly there's no reason to start a new thread for pictures of everybody's guns. If we did start a new thread there'd be about 8 gazillion picture threads and it really clogs up the site and wastes bandwidth.

That is exactly the way I'll be setting up my DDM4 as soon as those Gear Sector mounts hit the market. The X200/X300 requires just a tad too much reach for someone of my stature, and anything closer makes me change my grip on the rifle from what I've determined is optimal.

Thanks. Once more wear settles in, it turns into its own type of 'pattern.' That's why I didn't go happy with the paint (or a pattern) this time.

nice writeup stick. a couple of questions, 1. do you have any pics angled down the rail to see how close the light is to the rail? all the pics in the article are from the side. 2. any problems with the screws that fasten the light to the mount coming loose after a large round count?

I'll see what I can come up with for mount shots to show the offset a little better.

For the second question, I strongly recommend the use of thread locker for just about everything that gets put on a weapon, this is no exception. It comes with threadlocker, so there is no excuse not to use it.

I had to use LaRue's customer service for the first time a little over a week ago and I have to say they are awesome. I managed to take a chunk of aluminum out of my Stealth Upper. I spoke to Alfred and he had me send it in no questions asked. I only paid for shipping both ways for what would have cost me $250 to replace. They replaed the upper and sent it back. It only took about six business days to get back from the day I sent it out. They even gave me some bumper stickers. I just wanted to say thank you to Alfred and the rest of the crew at LT. Here are some pics of my Stealth rifle.

It's a LaRue 11.0 on a 14.5" M4 barrel. I have found that the sweet spot on 14.5" barrel is a 11.0 and sweet spot on a 16" barrel is a 12.0 rail.

The CTR balances well on this gun, as does a LMT SOPMOD or a Magpul ACS.

Hey Man great gun and great photos. I'd say you're another success story some one who read and learned well before buying. You've got an awesome gun there. It will serve you well. Is it really that hard to just click the bar to expand the pic?

For people that don't run the screen res like you have previously stated and for those that have, at times at least, less than ideal internet connections.

I see it kind of like the various M4 setups. Can't make one thing work for everybody. Try to find the middle ground right?

Not tryin to sound like an ass but you seem to be beating this issue to death.

Is it really that hard to post a picture in a pic thread?

No one is running a 640x480 computer unless they are still on their Commodore 64. It appears the full images are still being downloaded, they are simply being resized after the download by the board software for some reason. Its not saving download times.

As another Officer pointed out tonight, it makes no sense to click on each bar to look at each picture.

Excuse me, if I'm interpreting these kind of posts wrong... been too busy drooling over photos in the thread to actually pay much attention until late, when I've seen more and more posts in regards to photo resizing (by various posters).

Is the issue that ppl don't like how the board resizes (compacts) the larger images? If so, that's easily fixed in the user control panel.

USER CP > EDIT OPTIONS (under Settings & Options) > IMAGE RESIZE (under Thread Display Options). You'll see the white drop down box. Just select "Keep original size." Now the forum will display the photos in their larger, original, scale without resizing.

Sorry if I'm missing the complaint, and sorry to derail the thread... just trying to help a few of you out. This setting was implemented in the last few vB upgrades and not everyone is aware of it.

Yes, you are missing the point, and the ability to change it in the user settings has been mentioned numerous times. :)

There are plenty of people who are working in uniform from GOV or other computer systems (not logging in). While I don't think its an intentional slight against guys in uniform by any stretch, it doesn't change things, which is why I bring it up so often.

If people want to post to make counter points, try to post a picture so the thread is staying on track.

glock 22 .40cal. I'm much better with my rifle than my handgun, probably because that's what I have emphasized, but those comps really showed my handgun weakness. well, to the range.

I am not even going to pretend that I have never seen that rifle before. I think your rifles have "inspired" many people's builds ;). Until 2 days ago it had an ACR stock though. It was your 14.5" with FDE RIS II with ACR and AAC flash hider that originally sparked this build.

The heavier UBR and light (prototype) DD RIS II rail really made for a good handling carbine. There is something about that build that is more than the sum of its parts. A LEO buddy has been using that upper on his duty weapon and feels the same way.

Whatever! I went to the Derek Zoolander school for kids who can't read good and want to do other stuff good too!

Actually I did read that, I saw where it talked about drawing from the mag, but not putting it back in.

That's where almost ALL the 7.62 pouches are coming up short for me. They're just real clumsy when bumping mags forward in a hurry. If something can't be done one handed it turns in to a weird situation.

I did a little review on the CMMG "Budget" Recce clone I built last winter. Here's a few pics from it (16" gov't profile, chrome lined, 1:7 5.56 barrel, CMMG K9 freefloat forend, RRA NM trigger)...

Black Hills 69gr at 100 yards...
http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/ac111/cmayo3/CMMG%20Review/IMG_6273.jpg

HSM 69gr (it was my last three rounds, else I would have posted a 5 round group)...
http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/ac111/cmayo3/CMMG%20Review/IMG_6274.jpg

I wish I would have taken pictures of my 75gr TAP Practice groups, because they've been the most accurate commercial loads I've run through any of my 1:7 barrels. All 5 round groups using match ammo through this rifle were less than 1.25" at 100 yards with a 10x scope, and most were under 1". It did this with everything from BH, to HSM, to Hornady, to Prvi.

During testing...

As tested (Leupold Mk4)...

In "budget" recce form...

I just put on of these Troy rails on the build I did for my wife. I used the 11" to cover a low profile gas block. I figured that this length would give her a lot of flexibility with grip positions. I found it to be an excellent rail system for the price, which included shipping from Troy.

On our department computers, the forced resize looks like an unorganized jigsaw puzzle, its terrible. I've noticed staff/ admin won't comment on it.

With lots of sponsors you would think the sponsors would want to see their items showcased...

Looks smooth here... and I actually prefer the smaller initial size, I never run my browser full screen. YMMV.

Since its a picture thread, please throw a picture into your response or just PM me the info. None of the various LE terminals we use show the new images decently. If you aren't a cop, and aren't talking about your issued computer, you aren't talking about the same thing that I am.

Thank you! I wanted a no frills hard use class rifle. It weighs around 7.5 lbs loaded as it sits... It handles really, really nicely...

The 11" Troy VTAC tube is AWESOME! The Surefire 212A is also a nice suppressor... I might ditch the Troy BUIS and run the KAC 200-600's but not sure yet...

I love that Sully stock you are running...

Thanks Trident!

Love it.
