Hmmm....this seems to be the new trend....

Wes: Howso? You mean more KACs? They do seem to be popping up more now.

Actually, Arclight, I meant the basic set-up: long handguard, 16" barrel, T1 optic....light, simple, but capable.

I sure like the looks of those Sully stocks. I wish they sold a filler for the rear sling mount slot and had a provision for a QD sling mount on the front, other that that, they are about perfect.

are they hollow? you could rig something. you could probably through-bolt an MI QD mount, or maybe even just drill and epoxy a sleeve in there.

the RRA Entry stocks are solid.

Well, I just went to the DefensiveEdge website. It appears that they have answered my issue instantly and added QD points fore and aft on both sides and eliminated the gap where the old style rifle sling mount went. I think I'll order one in FDE and send it out to have it dipped in Multicam to match the rest of my rifle.

Yes, I've since mount it on top rail, right behind front BUIS. The whole rifle narrower that way and fits better in my pelican case.

They are solid. In the past a few people have drilled and epoxied in a QD point successfully. If you notice my 2 stocks are different. The N4 with the T1 has a Sully that used to have a rear traditional sling swivel that I removed. The other N4 has one that came without the swivel with no cut out for it because they stopped making with the swivel as noone wanted them.
I use a DD burnsed loop and it comes with a slightly longer screw to accomodate the extra length. The Sully comes as a complete kit with RE, buffer, buffer spring, screw and stock.
I wish I got the ones with the new QD spots but the burnsed loop works very well so I'm happy. Great stocks especially New Yorkers and ban staters.

It's a great day in the history of firearms when a 12.5" BCM "Kino" upper receiver w/ a DD free-float rail system, SOPMOD stock, and LMT fixed sight is considered to be "something basic." :)

Just wanted to say hi and thanks to all the members. I have been lurking for some time reading posts and learning. This site has helped me to learn much in a short amount of time. I have just finished putting together my 2nd AR and thought it's about time for my 1st post and some pics.

It's not really a build, I bought a BCM 16" middy upper from Bravo and a Spikes complete lower from Brownells, but it's just the way I wanted it. The only thing left (for now) is the EMOD stock I'll be purchasing shortly. Sorry for the low quality pics (I'm not much with a camera).

Going to try and take a picture of the lower with the BCM upper on it, the ACS stock feel right with the 20" upper.

Edit: Forgot to say the lower was assembled with G&R lower parts kit and the obvious magpul kit. Undecided what I'm doing with the upper at the moment.

they are nicely manufactured (MMS I'm sure!) and they’re not just a ‘distributor’ anymore; as they had a Grand Opening last Saturday morning at their New location and Showroom; and I was the first one through the door that morning; as John invited a few of us in for a cup of coffee just before the event kicked off at 10:00 :D

Stickman,

Since you have contacts within the Magpul family, how about asking them about the equipment in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G02WjXBmoss). I would like to see if they will be offered to the public. (Mag, stock, grip and handguards either in this camo design or digital)

Maybe they should do what L5 does - reinforce with metal bits at feed lips. But then again it would defeat the name "P"mag :p

Well shot the DDM4V3 for the first time today. It was actually first time I have ever shot an M4. I sighted in the Eotech EXPS3-0 at 25 yards and shot the following 2 groups. I had a bench to rest on but no sand bags etc. I didn't think this was too bad but yeah I know it could have been better (first time ever using holographic site). It sure would have taken care of the bad guys. It was a blast !!

I just bought my first AR-15 two weeks ago. RRA Varmint 24in. Love the gun, love the upgrades I put on it. Here's a pic:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v162/boredelmo/IMGP2319.jpg

My problem is that it isn't unique. The same problem exists in the car world (my old hobby). Everyone likes certain colors, brands, wheels, suspension etc...and many cars end up looking the same.

After assembling all the parts, a VERY similar AR15 (only difference was scope mount/scope) popped up in my local gun classifieds forum.

After doing some digging....I found this pic:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v162/boredelmo/KYS_7376_crop.jpg

Used up all my funds so far, so I won't be able to do this soon, but that is what I am going to do to make my AR15 unique.

So my question to you guys: What makes your AR15 unique? Custom made stock? Odd configuration? Odd caliber? I'd like to see pics!

*Note* I understand many of you will claim "Hey hey, function over form, it goes bang every time, blah blah blah" but we must all admit that aesthetics does come into play sooner or later when making buying decisions.

thegeneric: There are many like it, but this one is mine.

While it's certainly not unique, at least the pseudo-digital camo pattern with the rail cover configuration is less common and makes it stand out in a crowd.

A few pics from a night shoot I attended the other night. All guns were suppressed and only night vision and IR aiming lasers/illuminators were used, with the exception of one guy's visible red laser. These were taken in complete darkness, IIRC the photographer said he was basically using a very long exposure to capture the images like this. I'm sure Stickman could explain that better though, as it's above my head.

The photographer gave me his permission to post these photos here on M4Carbine.

Me shooting some steel downrange, using an ACOG with a badass PVS-22 mounted in front of the optic. I've never used a PVS-22 before, it was an amazing experience. It belongs to Victor of TNVC, he was very gracious in letting us borrow it for the shoot!

Thanks, guys! I agree, the man behind the camera did a pretty damn good job. I didn't know what to expect, since it was SO dark and there weren't any lights on at all, until he showed me one of the shots on the camera's LCD screen. I thought it was pretty crazy he could do that, I didn't know that stuff was possible. Pretty cool!

In this pic, the steel plate is being engaged, and all the light downrange is strictly IR illumination.

On my Bass fishing digital scale it just weighed in at 7lbs. 9oz. (weight includes the 30rd pmag filled w. 55gr. vmax)

edit.... I was just putting that gun up and popped the mag and saw it was empty rather than full, so the weight above includes the pmag with no ammo loaded in it.

Keep em coming pal...those really are spectacular images. On the first one I wonder if those 2 rearward shooting sparks are actually extremely small sized specs of burning powder. The last image is prob. my favorite, and anybody that questions the asskicking power of an .223/5.56....see above:cool:

Some of the other folks that have the badass IR units and NV setups should take a hint from your style on these pics. Only other really cool shots Ive seen personally like yours above IIrc were from MilitaryMoron and featured a Scar in a desert locale shooting steel at night.

Here's my 20" BCM I recently finished (I think...). The only change I have made is removing the BUIS, which I just don't see being used. The optic works perfectly well if batteries run out, and this is for long range plinking so if something more catastrophic happens my day won't get much worse (since no one will be shooting back...)

BCM BCG and full auto bolt
Burris XTR 1-4x24mm on a Larue mount

Don't mind the chalk marks I hadn't washed off yet... and don't make fun of my cutting job; I'm relatively happy with it, but the places I made to pull out the magazines turned out horrible. Anyone have a suggestion for cutting more regular, even half circles in this foam before I glue it? I might end up just cutting squares to replace the circles if I can't get something figured out.

Here's a direct view through the PVS-22, looking downrange at the steel silhouette target that's being lit up with an IR aiming laser. I can't say enough just how badass this thing was, and how awesome it is that TNVC actually let us borrow it! Looking through a Night Force scope with mil-dot reticle that one shooter had mounted on a really sweet Mk12 Mod 0, with the PVS-22 sitting in front of it, was one of the coolest things I've ever seen!

Why do you think there are no pics of my blaster or anyone else's that was there? There was some badass shit there, and I really wish now that I would've gotten some pics, but in between shooting and just bullshitting with friends, it was honestly the last thing on my mind.:D

I wanted to get some cool NV video of me shooting towards the end, but I waited too long and it was bad timing. So I'll try and do that next time.

My wife's new Bravo Company Manufacturing 14.5" Mid Length!!

After my great experience purchasing a BCM MK12 SPR, my wife was begging for a lighter rifle that she would enjoy shooting. With the expert advice from the BCM pros we took the recommendation of a:

BCM Standard 14.5" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group with Daniel Defense LITE 12" rail (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-14-5-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Daniel-Defense-p/bcm-urg-mid-14%20ddl12.htm) on BCM Lower Receiver Group (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Lower-Receiver-Groups-M4-AR15-s/117.htm).

They added BCM/Troy sights (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Folding-Battle-Sight-REAR-p/bcm%20rear%20sight%20troy.htm), BCM bolt carrier group (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Bolt-Carrier-Group-MPI-Auto-M16-p/bcm%20bolt%20carrier%20group%20auto%20mp.htm), BCM Gunfighter charging handle (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-GUNFIGHTER-Charging-Handle-GFH-Mod-4-p/bcm%20gfh%20mod%204%20556.htm), and permanently installed a PWS FSC556 Comp (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Primary-Weapon-Systems-FSC556-Tactical-Compensator-p/pws%20fsc556.htm).

I have to say that, just like the BCM MK12 Mod 3X I bought a couple of months ago, this upper and lower arrived quickly and were absolutely flawless!

Here is the wife's new carbine with Magpul Foliage Green furniture.

I had a chance to race to the range is fire only 10 rounds through this today and it is absolutely amazing how this carbine runs, it is nothing like a 14.5" carbine, and even softer and smoother than my 16" mid-length. It shoulders, balances and moves extremely well. My wife hasn't had a chance to shoot it yet, but she loves the weight, right on 7lbs, and balance now and is going to be very happy with the way it shoots.

This could be my new favourite AR15. I thought that the 16" mid length gas system was the sweet spot, but the guys at Bravo Company have caused me to re-think it.

Here is the new 14.5" middy below my 16" middy both have 12" Daniel Defense Lite rails

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4136/4881558010_8b753f72b1_b.jpg

I think I see another 14.5" mid length in my family's future.

Here's my latest...I just couldn't go for long without a short AR15 after selling my LMT earlier this year. I like my shorties as light and simple as possible...I was originally going to go irons only but thought I'd give the Aimpoint a try -- it's my first. The DD mount is very light (since it offers a 1/3 co-witness there's no need for a QR mount) and with the sight mounted "mid-way" along the rifle it doesn't affect the balance.

Upper: Canadian-made 10.3" N8 Upper with Magpul MOE handguards, Aimpoint H1 in Daniel Defence Mount (and sometimes a Magpul AFG)

Lower: Armalite lower with Stag parts kit and LMT receiver extension, Magpul MOE grip, trigger guard and CTR stock

Well, if you do, I suggest going with BCM. The Mk12 Mod1 at the top of this page is mine (the Mod0 upper is Vic's). BCM built my entire Mod1 and it is a tack driver! Quality is typical BCM: Excellent, and attention to detail is top notch. they even pin the gas block (something not done on military Mod1's). I love this gun.

I bought the complete BCM middy upper off mark5pt56 a few mos. back, as I had a nice new Aero-Precision lower with NOTHING to stick on it, and it ran great as a combo at the range back over the 4th of July. Like most of us though, I JUST couldn't leave well enough alone. :p

I thought I'd pick up one of Grant's 'scratch 'n' dent' BCM specials, as for $250 (I added the MOE grip for another $19), I figured you COULDN'T go wrong!

As you can see, the scratches weren't THAT bad, and the dent (not photographed) was a minor gouge mark on the FRONT of the magwell, perhaps a couple of mm x couple of mm's.

I had a spare MOE stock gathering dust - I slapped 'em all together, and VOILA! A complete BCM rifle!

I am the photographer of the photos that RetreatHell posted the other day. Thank you for compliments about them! We all had a heck of a great time that night to say the least!!!

The ammo that was being used was stricktly FMJ shooting steel targets. The one with all the sparks was a long exposure that shows at least 3 or more hits hitting the target during that time.

One of the cameras has been converted to shoot in the IR spectrum only. That's how I was able to capture the IR laser illuminators as well as I did.

I Made the PEQ with IR/VIS laser and IR illuminator. The VIS and IR are 5mW and 35. The top selector works fire pad works, easy to zero. I have securely positioned everything inside and insulated it to protect from heat and recoil. The mount is full metal. I have made 4 of these trying to get it just right. I have shaved down my front mbus a bit so the VIS laser is not obstructed. It's a lot of work and redoing. I have made 2 of these like I have now. I have 750 rds on this with no problems including no zero issues. I enjoy having it on my gun it's serves me well. I don't see a reason to get rid of it unless it fails me. I don't have a reason to spend 1-2 grand on a insight peq. I don't even hav my own night vision. I borrow my uncles pvs gen 2 when I can. I'm not mr.money bags right now. I bought the m&p and everything on it with no job. I'm only 20 yrs old. I shoot and train almost everyday. I've got over 10,750 rds down range with my m&p. Ive only had it since march. I love the gun. Never have had any issues. This gun will be sold pretty soon for a knights rifle.

Yep - QRP mount, and perfect co-witness. I HATE lower-third, as my mind will NOT process such a picture, and I cannot hit the target. Would love to find a cantilever that offers perfect co-witness, but have yet to hear of one.

Shot that configuration over the 4th of July, and she dialed in right away. :D

10/10....every now and again you bust one out that just makes me think of a fine piece of artwork way before I think anything firearm or gear related and those are the ones that I appreciate from you the most after all the wonderful and beautiful pics I stared at for the past several yrs. These recent effects pics are a whole different animal and hopefully folks interpret them as such and not only see the talent and high quality in them but the overall artistic quality to them that I find to be highly prevalent in them.

Disclaimer: I am a big fan of anything art:)

ETA: This shot makes for an incredible desktop background.

That is the second one of those Trijicon RMR's mounted with the ADM mount Ive seen now and it looks great, how do you like it and do you have a T-1 to compare with it?

I am one old CompC3 sale away from getting my own Aimpoint micro, but I've seen/used them.

RMR's are a lot brighter and less finicky in the brightness department than the previous reflex sights. Washout has been reduced significantly. There is a slight distortion due to the curvature of the glass, makes it sort of look 1.1x in magnification. It is tinted like the other reflex sights on the market. You're never going to get a lower 1/3 cowitness with the RMR, horizontally the FOV is comparable to a micro, but the vertical FOV is slightly smaller. The ADM mount is absolute cowitness and under no circumstances is it plausible to run a rear BUIS in the up position. Like the micro it's better to run it a little further back if the small FOV bugs you (it does bug me, got used to my 1-4x and aimpoint 30mm).

Weighs less dry than a micro, if you could call 1.8 oz an gigantic weight savings (1.2 oz vs 3 oz). I was thinking of selling the RMR for a while, but for what it is and the price point, it's very good. Just has some limitations that aimpoints will never have, and some benefits aimpoints won't have either.

It's the Romanian AK of illuminated optics. Doesn't cost much, doesn't do much, and when it does, it's with a 7 MOA spread at 100m.

Some updates to my Mk12 build....

- Smith Vortex Mk12/Ops Inc can mount flash hider replaced the brake. With how heavy the gun is I didn't really notice all that much of a difference. It still has barrely any recoil, and you can still spot your own shots.

- UBR replaced the Colt 4 pos tube and SOPMOD stock.

This thing is ridiciously easy to shoot. You can ping a LaRue steel target at 250 yards pretty much as fast as you can pull the trigger, and it will shoot 10 shot MOA groups with 77 grain SMK's pretty easily.

it's a drop in CMMG .22 conversion, just change out the BCG. it's nice because I get to work with my same rifle with only changing the mags and BCG. it's also nice for new shooters to get the form and basics down before surprising them with the recoil.

I love it. It's totally simple, in fact I ended up ditching the long bottom rail in favor of just the tube. I could probably lose the left side short rail as nothing is mounted there.

I've yet to shoot it. But it feels great, and with the AAC M4-2K it just looks really simple and effective. I need to ditch that coke-can sized M2 and get with a T-1

I purchased my first AR last week. I spent the weekend breaking it in. My first AR and I had a blast..love it. I am new to the website here and a few others for the AR, and I have gotten first class info everywhere.
I purchased a Stag Model 1 with Magpul MOE equipment installed by my dealer and sold as a package deal. It looks very well put together, both the OEM and the Magpul items.
Any ways, here are a few pictures, and I hope to stick around and share info here!
