Nothing special; just a new toy my wife bought me for Christmas. S&W M&P15OR. Retail: $1069. Sportsmans Warehouse sells it normally for $949. They had a 3 day Christmas sale for $749. Then, S&W had a Military and Police appreciation rebate of $100; so I got this for a total of $649. Couldn't say no to it.

They are both Firebird Precision. www.firebirdprecision.com

The silver one is billet. I think only 50 were made. Its a little wider than normal, the rail is just a little taller, magwell is flared and there is not brass deflector. The front of the magwell is great for rolling logs :D

The black one is a standard forged lower, buts drilled for set screws to lock the receivers together and to adjust the sear angle

eta...I have to ask, why did you replace GA's precision ground trigger pins. The SSA incorporates a J-Hook which prevents your pins from ever walking and imo, the science behind GA's awesome design of the SSA gets a bit diminished when taking away a component that has been thought out and well executed in terms of the overall unit's performance or feel. Just a thought....and no more than 2cents worth.

If I knew that before, I probably wouldn't have bought the KNS Pins. I've bought KNS Pins for my 2 previous builds and loved the performance and looks, so I bought them for this build as well. Since they're already installed, I'm gonna leave them in for now... ;)

The are a small 2 person operation. They come up with some awesome stuff for 3gunners. Really cools Saigas. Their website needs some attention. Best way is to call them

I'm about 65 miles from firebird precision. I seen them at the gunshow, and they were selling dpms and rra lowers. I wanted a firebird, because it says made in mountainair nm, and I grew up there. But they were only selling dpms and rra

I've made several changes to my DDM4 so it was time to repaint it. First, the changes:

# Replaced Surefire G2 with a G2X Tactical - although the Surefire website says they are the same diameter they are not so I had to add a rubber spacer (inner tube) for it to fit in my Gear Sector mount. This 200 lumen light is much brighter than the old G2.
# I moved my Gear Sector QD mount closer to the receiver.
# I replaced my Aimpoint Comp M3 in a LT129 with a T1 in a LT751; this saved quite a bit of weight and I prefer the T1 over the Comp M3 but then who doesn't.
# I replaced a slick Ergo-Grip with a Tango Down BG-17. I stippled the grip before installing it as I thought it was a little slick on the front strap and back strap.
# I replaced my MOE stock with a CTR for a better lock-up.

Below are two pictures in my AO. I'm very happy with both the changes and the new paint scheme. My goal for 2011 is to shoot the thing much more.

black gun on white background, your camcorder exposes for the background which way underexposes the rifle making it hard to see details. I'd use a darker background and more direct lighting of the rifle.

It's a black Pelican 1650. I was looking at the Hardigg's last year but opted for the Pelican since I've had more experience with their stuff.

New build, Magpul Miad and Bad in the mail. Had a MOE but the MIAD just feels better to me, :confused: The upper shot great on my other lower.

Just finished this one, finally.

Since I know I will get asked by those outside of CA, the kydex grip wrap is used in order to meet the definition of not having a pistol grip.

As long as I have no pistol grip, a pinned or fixed stock, no flash hider, and no verticle grip, I can lawfully use legally acquired large capacity (they mean...standard?) magazines and not have to deal with magazine release locking mechanisms. It can't have any "evil assault features." Thus why we call these "featureless" rifles, here in the great state of CA.

BTW, the Burris Tac30 is an awesome piece of glass for the money.

You are correct, the magnifier is a bit higher than the centerline of the T-1. It works perfectly though.

Yes I have. The MITER (mount) actually covers the barrel 2.5" already so it would have to be regestered as a SBR. I want the 16" barrel for this setup anyway.

Thanks, like most DIY things, the more you work on it, the better you will become...In the beginning I half assed stuff with a soldering iron and a old woodburner with a single ill suited applicator tip but once I got a nice little wood burning kit from sears it has gone a lot better. The Weller kits are nice and cheap and affordable and so far I have logged some nice hrs. on it without any problems. As far as how I like them....I would prefer to have all my mags like that and all pmags in the future will continue to fall victim to the burning gun:) It really just helps reassure oneself during any kind of inclement conditions and it most certainly helps if you plan to ever get your mags damp or wet and then plan on changing them under the gun.

The Lowers are KAC SR 15 IWS complete lowers with the KAC ambi selectors replaced with BAD's BAD-A.S.S. ST or essentially 45 degree throw ambi selectors. The flat type trigger is a new Geissele Super Dynamic-Enhanced and the other one as pictured has the Stock KAC 2stage match trigger, however since the pic was taken I have replaced that trigger as well with the new Geissele Super Dynamic-Combat. Hopefully one of these days I will have all the traditional triggers and selectors replaced with the Super Dynamic triggers and ST selectors.

Yeah its the one with the rotating aperture. So far I have no complaints with it. It's sturdy, and easy to adjust. One feature I like is that it actually has four apertures, 2 small and 2 big. It makes changing to the aperture you want super simple. A quarter turn in either direction gives you the other aperture.
