I have found the best way to use the NOD is a helmet mounted NOD with a rifle mounted IR aimer. Now that TNVC is selling civilian legal IR laser, you ought to look into it :D

Absolutely, my buddy did not have a lid, just a funky set of straps, but the clarity was great when up close, and we did play with his MK23 LAM.

But without cans or the land, I doubt I will get into that game.

A night observation device is a great thing to have for SHTF. Not that I would go out and have an adventure, it's an edge when you can see danger coming and go the other way, or if there's no other way, you gain some time to prepare for it ;)

Just curious- why keep your front sight so far back?

on the 10.5 its far back so i can put my hand out further and also use my light. on the 14.5 its because when the scope is on 1x, the sight is in view of the scope

Yes, sexy sexy sexyness! I don't jump on the new camo bandwagon since eventually down the road I'll be issued one pattern or the other, but I'm really digging the ATACS. Its awesome and is a little bit more "blah" then MC and I think thats why it works well. And considering camo on a weapon platform is more permanent then changing pants I would opt for this pattern. I would love to attempt it with Duracoat, looks like I need another build.

It was bought as a complete upper, my other mrps are rifle lengths so this was my first cqb chassis.

You have a number of things going right for you in your pics but to my very unprofessional eye your lighting is the whole issue. The background is a nice choice as well. It appears that on the left side of the pics, direct natural sunlight is casting down and really hurting the quality of them. I have found that no doubt natural light is the best, however it needs to be filtered in order to be useful. My favorite time to try and shoot a pic is on a sunny day that has periods of thick overcast. A cloud filtering the natural sunlight is the best Ive found.

Note....I suck at taking pics:eek::D

I have a Veho Muvi mini camera thing mounted with a tactical zip tie.

The stage with the playing card had targets with red or black stripes above them. The card you draw, either red or black, you shoot the OPPOSITE color. Makes the shooters think instead of just hosing through a stage.

This is only my second post. I wanted to show some pics of my latest coyote hunting rig and the scope I just mounted.

It is a DPMS Sportical Upper mounted on a Plum Crazy lower. I know a lot of you don't like the DPMS rifles, but this is my second and I have had no problems with my other one. My department even took some DPMS Upper and mounted them on M16A1 lowers we got from the military. No problems so far with them after several years. Same with the PC lower, some don't like them, I'll let you know how this one holds up after a few years. So far so good.
The scope is a Weaver Super Slam 1.5x6 IR scope.

I was looking for a lite, easy carrying rig for hunting. When out calling I carry a bag with a lot of stuff (caller, decoys, shooting stix, camo net) and wanted to cut the weight down. I had a Millett DMS scope on this rifle, but my buddy wanted the scope and I wanted another low power scope with German #4 reticle. My other calling rifle has a Bushnell Trophy 1x4 with German reticle that has worked very well. The Weaver is a little smaller and lighter than the Millett was. The glass on this Weaver, to my eyes, seems very bright and clear.

Centurion makes an awesome product...besides the fact that we have so many really great options for a MK12/SPR type like a BCM, Centurion, etc., having a commercially avail. true blue BH's 5.56 MK262 mod1 load should make it that much easier for the avg. end user to acquire a potent and tackdriving 18" gun. They are incredibly fun to shoot:p

Mounted the TLR-1s on the FSB with a GG&G Slic thing. Added a pressure switch and mounted that on a Tango Down rail cover.

He had me install a Geissele Super Dynamic Enhanced trigger and I was able to get some time in with it, very nice trigger.

I'm sure the specs on the gun are pretty obvious, but:

- Noveske/Vltor VIS 2AK upper w/13.7" and pinned KX3
- LMT Defender 2000 lower
- LMT SOPMOD
- Geissele Super Dynamic Enhanced trigger
- Aimpoint T1 w/LT660
- Aimpoint magnifier with LaRue FTS
- Surefire M600C
- Tango Down down VFG
- Tango Down rail panels
- Magpul (ergo) rail ladders
- Ergo grip

He decided he wants to add some stuff, so he ordered an ASAP, MS2, RSA, LDI ITAL, and SR07-D-IT switch.
Going from the Aimpoint magnifier back to the LaRue Poboy/Hensoldt magnifier made me sad...

Found this picture today. If you look closely, you can see the spent cartridge just above the optic. And the huge cloud from the AC556 break. I remember that it was super cold out that day.

Can we get this thread moved around a few more times please.

Most of the weapons shown in this thread are not custom builds, so I'm at a loss as to why its in this section. I guess it makes as much sense as having it in the technical section soon. :p

i think the mods are trying to promote viewers to check on other forum sections. Custom build section is like ghost town. But since this is the MOST popular thread it encourages the the viewers to look for it and maybe browse the section where it is at. Just my theory and hopefully we will see this thread in the reloading and ammunition section..:D

In the excitement of getting my optic and mount I had the mount reversed (not that it has an functional difference either way) So today I switch it around found a better back ground and moved my AFG II back a little bit as well.

This is my first AR and after much research and browsing on here I picked up my BCM Upper and Lower that I ordered from G&R at the beginning of Feb. yesterday from my FFL, I went ahead and had them take off the front site and install the Low Profile GB and Troy Barrel Nut, took it home and finished installing everything else.

I ordered a set of Magpul BUIS and a RSA today (Can then take off that extra Rail and weight)
(and Yes, I know new Magpul sights are coming out soon, I don't mind though, going to be on spring break next week and will taking it to the range, so I got to have something to be able to sight with.)
I am planning on putting a Burris Tac30 1-4x Scope in a LaRue SPR mount on here at the beginning of April once MidwayUSA gets the scope in stock.

It will be finished for the time being until the next LaRue Range Day where I will be picking up a Trijicon Accupoint, QD light mount, and other goodies.

I think I need counseling though, I am already thinking about a SBR build.

I was inspired by the water droplet post on the previous page. I had to try my wine glass parlor trick. It's basically the same type of setup but much easier to pull off since the water doesn't move! (Unless something goes horribly wrong)

The water will invert the image of whatever is on the other side. I've used this before on buildings and birdhouses and such but never on a firearm.

Water drops hitting the surface and smoke are big right now on photography forums. Shooting water drops sitting on an item with a macro lens was a big one for a long time as well.

Shooting smoke and hitting it with a colored gel is one of the ones I haven't seen here yet, you might want to give that a try if you (or anyone else) are looking for ideas. :)

fun with 22, love it! Brand new lefty conversion kit kicks some serious ass. It eats anything from high end Federal Gold Match down to crap blazer ammo. Over 500 rounds first time around and not one ftf or fte. Amazing! CMMG kits are the shizznit. Sorry about the tastless plaid sheets, I'm in need of a new set.

I don't even know what the other settings do, but when I tried to mess with them, it said, "not available with this setting." I actually looked @ your rifle a lot (the pic of it leaning up against the tire) as I was planning mine. It looks good. The 14" rail thing kind of happened by accident due to availability (or rather lack of 12" OmegaX availability), but I'm glad it did. I have a tendency to grab the barrels on shorter rails in an effort to get my arm out to where it's comfortable to me. I ran this rifle in a Vickers class for 8hrs, and had minimal fatigue (no more than I would have with any other rifle, I think). I enjoyed the ability to "drive" the gun from the muzzle. The weight difference between the 12" and 14" really isn't that much, especially with the LW barrel. (I guess it's ok to borrow a pic from VA_Dinger if it's a pic of me, and I'm not a lefty, that was a weak-side drill.)

I like my rails long for the same reason. I've got two 13" Troy TRX Extremes and thought I would try the 12" DD. With the optic I have it's lighter than my rifle with the TRX Extreme. I haven't got to run it yet as I'm waiting on a BattleComp 2.0.
