What mag is that? Also what laser are you running and does it work?

kenken

I know you didn't ask me but that's a Troy Battle mag, and the laser is a PEQ 15. Their out of my reach so I can't say how well they work, for what they cost they should work great. The civilian version is not as good as the military version I know.

Hi all, first time poster here and new to AR's in general. I do have this however so I think I qualify for the cool kids club!

1498214983

I built the lower myself, N4,DD lpk, buffer kit from BCM and a CTR stock. I was going to build the upper also but a great deal came along I couldn't pass up. 13.5 NSR with a 14.5 and pinned Battle Comp all built by Noveske. Would have rather gotten a 16" barrel so I could do more but I think I'm better off not complaining considering the deal I got. Now I just need a couple more sets of panels and irons, I'll worry about sights later. I was thinking of a set of DD fixed sights, I can only find good reviews for them, can anyone say why I shouldn't get them?

Nice work! I went a similar route. Where did you get the upper? I got a 14.5" afghan with pinned vortex and 13.5" NSR rail from DSG Arms. Now I too am in a bind thinking about changing the muzzle device, I wish it would have came with a battle comp!

How was you able to get a BCM upper? I've been keeping an eye out for them and they've been out of stock since new years. I think I got there last 11.5 right before that.

Use the "email me" function. I did that with a 16" middy with a 12" Centurion rail and had in my hands within a couple of weeks. Not sure what the timeline is on other configurations

Meh, cant be loved by everyone! :D It's actually a good thing, bad thing with these. I bought two factory LMT 10.5's for a pair of MK18 MOD1 builds, but I decided against going NFA at this time. I didn't want to risk losing my lowers in the event of a ban etc... So while I'm stoked for the two 14.5 Noveske / URX III builds, a pair of MK18's would have been sweet also...

All things considered, its nice to have a pair of LMT SOPMOD lowers and two more extra LMT BCG's...

I completely hear ya. I have been foaming at the mouth to do a Kino build. My income tax was going to cover it. But with the near future being so uncertain I am holding off and just doing a 14.5 LW build. Not registering anything.
Sucks.

But yeah all things considered, great find!

Thanks, it is the new Trijicon LED ACOG (battery powered).

Stick, What's the benefit of the LED ACOG over the traditional ACOG? I have a TA31H, with a non LED RMR mounted on top. I like the fact that I don't need batteries....

I always thought of the idea as allowing countries that outlaw tritium to get in on the acog action.

Needless to say, it looks cooler to me than the normal acog... just looks. Great photos as always.

Thats what BUIS are for, if you really don't trust your optic just run fixed front and rear (like vickers does). There is a reason most of the best instructors run things like aim points. I honestly think a T1 is more durable then a lot of the buis out there (maybe not the troys, those are pretty rugged). If you've seen people chuck aimpoints across the parking lot, or blow them up/run them over/drop them from a helicopter you know what i'm talking about.

There is no reason not to have back up irons with an unmagnified optic they weigh almost nothing and you can get inexpensive ones (magpul buis). But really the chance of you needing them if you run a quality optic is slim at best.

PT Belt to the rescue!

Considering that a sailor wearing one of those things the other week is the only thing that kept me and a few other Marine applicants and poolees from getting run over, I have to say that they do occasionally serve a purpose (He was back on leave doing recruiters assistance for the Navy recruiter next door and wanted to run with us). However, I think you forgot that the rifle also needs to be painted safety cone orange for extra visibility.

I would really like to duplicate the top one since many high end companies are building a similar rifles "out of the box" now. It was pieced together over time.

I might experiment with new pistol grips. The SAW grips were chosen for their carrying capacity for batteries and a spair parts kit- but with the TI stocks it's not a requirement anymore.

Low on the priority list is a rebuild of the SPRish rifle with a new bbl, FF tube and scope mount. That was put together on a tight budget- but it does what I want it to.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a38/VMerquise/WP_20130201_001_zps0403b0d8.jpg

So, I finished this shortly before Christmas and was going to do a nice writeup about the parts and accuracy and what not, but I just can't get my hands on any ammo right now so here we go!

I started doing research as to what rifle I would like to buy more than a year ago. I didn't grow up with fire arms so I had to start at the beginning. I started off looking at all the modern video game guns, the FN FS2000 was an early favorite, I looked at the SCAR and ACR, I looked at the FAL, AR10, M1A, Larue and Noveski, and some more exotic weapons.

After learning quite a bit I decided to build an AR and started buying parts at the end of last summer. I saw Troy's new rifle that [Boycott] started selling for them last year and I liked the look of it so I patterned mine to match it. The lower is Stag, the upper is Vltor MUR with out the FA, the Barrel/BCG/Buffer are BCM Cold Hammer Forged LW Mid, the Stock/BUIS/Fore end are Troy, and the muzzle device is a AAC Blackout mostly because I couldn't find any reviews of Troy's new muzzle devices. I added the Aimpoint Patrol to finish it off.

And I have a BCM BCG I nabbed last month at the old price to put into it, plus a stripped aero precision lower, also nabbed last month at the old price, and BCM H buffer/buffer spring/buffer tube ordered yesterday to put the upper on. Hells yeah.

BCM service continues to rock, despite the market insanity.

Gun is a 14.5 mid with an A5H2 and LMT enhanced carrier. As a side note before I get started, it is super tame.

The 2 are so close in muzzle control but the characteristics are different. The BC as has been stated goes slightly down and contains very little concentric movement. By that I mean how wide of an area the dot 'vibrates' from it's original point before firing.

The BCM pulled right. Up and right. The opposite vertical path of the Battlecomp. As with the BC I experimented with timing it to compensate for the right push. Timing the BCM comp does help although the results aren't as drastic as timing a BC at 1 o'clock for a righty shooter.

That concentric movement I mentioned earlier. The BCM comp has more of it. Meaning the dot moves in a slightly (it ain't much) wider area from where the dot was static before shooting.

Hope that makes sense. In other words if you drew a dot on a piece of paper andtwo concentric circles around the dot. Placed them with very little gap between each circle the inside circle would represent the BC's movement within the first circle and the 2nd would be the area the BCM moved within the circle while firing.

I was hoping to do a full auto test but that didn't happen.

Thanks Wake. Love the KISS concept and how 'flickable' this thing feels. Have always been quite fond of how the MOE HG feels in my hand.

Thank you, it fits me good, it might be a little on the heavy side, but its very well balanced. I cant wait to get some rounds downrange and see how that new muzzle brake works out. Also the flashlight mount is the new Elzetta ZRX, it fits the Surefire G2X great, and I used 1.75" bicycle tire to hold the tape switch to the Daniel Defense vertical grip.

Thats a Falcon F93 Pro, originally produced by Magpul (M93), they discontinued it, Ergo picked up the molds and aside from different logos, they are the same stock as the Magpul M93.

11.5 BCM LW - 9"NSR - .625 Syrac - H Buffer

I'm still waiting on a SF 556-212 flash hider for my can and hoping to get hands on a Bobro Aimpoint Micro mount. In the meantime, I can slap an A2 fh and some BUIS on there and shoot it.

I'm sure it will be everything you hope for. I know the 14.5 BCM LW in the SBR family portrait below is real quick and light in hand....

that day I was running a low light pistol/carbine course (started in the day but the sun dropped quick and we were in the dark). like they say, 2 is 1 and 1 is none. was playing with the two lights to get a feel for the two. I actually liked the setup

I can get to the surefire x400 with a kind of over the top grip and get my thumb on the activator. they arent meant to be activated at the same time (other light is a scout m300)

really noticed how the x400 has a better throw when we went back to the 50m mark when it was pitch black out.

I get the influx of new people changes things, but the stupid people need to be pruned, and so do their comments. This is still a good board, yet so was another one which left things unchecked.

Looks like you're running two lights on your gun. Do you always run it that way?

The way batteries last, smart move on your part.
