Me too and what rail that it.

I'm running a stock BM 14.5" Barrel with perm. Phantom and a 13.2" LaRue Rail over it. This gun is very easy to drive from target to target, you can control all movement right at the muzzle, so the muzzle flip is zilch. The only problem is that it becomes awkward and front heavy, or so it was before I put the UBR on it. Now it seems perfectly balanced, albeit very heavy for an AR.

I thought so. Neat looking blaster with that UBR on it.

Dude, I want that UBR. but for 230 dollars. JEEEZ. Can you put the ambi rear DD a2 sling mount on it? If you can I just might pick one up. And yes I saw there is a swivel but I want the ambi one on it.

I'm not sure if it would work or not. If it slips over the reciever extension/buffer tube and can use their supplied longer screw, then yes, it would. Here's Stickman's excellent guide on installation: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?p=314

ETA: The swivels are reversable, although Magpul plans to come out with ambi QD swivels for the UBR.

It's got a few new parts and a new paintjob, but I kept the same color since I found they worked the best where I'm at.
The sling's a VTAC 2 point sling. Now I think of it, I should have probably gone with a Vicker's sling, but the VTAC sling's not bad (not to mention the place I got it had the coyote color and they didn't have the Vicker's).

Very nice!

I'm contemplating cutting down a 12.0 Lite (to 11) and adding a Surefire MB556AR after seeing Molson's rifle. 14.5's with an 11.0 is just a clean looking set up.

Jeff,

That setup looks sweet. Is that Surefire attached to a 14.5" barrel? What is your overall length? Do you like how the Surefire handles compared to others? Your photos, like always, are freakin' excellent.

That gun and another gun that I have a Surefire muzzle brake on were delivered AFTER I had shoulder surgery. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet because the Doc hasn't cleared me hot to start shooting again. I see the Doc again the week after next, and I should be released to full duty at that time.

The main reason I sent with the Surefire muzzle brake is for my Surefire 556k suppressor. But I had heard good things about the Surefire muzzle brake from guys that I know are solid shooters.

Correct, the barrel is a Bravo Company Stainless Mid-Length barrel.

Tango Down. Its nice, it goes right over the buffer tube and has three different attachment points for the sling.

Federale, first photo, did you have the barrel cut down and then add the new suppressor? Or did you just swap flash suppressors? It looks like it is still around 16" which makes me think you had it cut down slightly. Which Surefire suppressor is that?

Second photo, the gas block is under/inside the rails. All the photos I've seen of the MRP CQB (16") show the gas block at the end of the rails (sort of like your photo of the piston version). Can you give me a heads up on this one?

Thanks.

The barrel hasn't been cut. I changed the standard birdcage to a Surefire MB556AR MUZZLE BRAKE/ADAPTER. The adapter covers a lot of the barrel which makes it look like the barrel is shorter. It isn't. Its still the 16 inch barrel.

In the second photo, that's the 14.5 inch barrel. The 10 inch and 14.5 inch barrel gas blocks fit under the rail. The 16 inch barrel is more or a midlength and and doesn't go under the rail. The piston barrel doesn't go under at all (as you pointed out).

Yes, 14.5 inch barrel. I've only got a digitial bathroom scale, sorry! But loaded with 30 rounds and the sling, its right around 10 pounds. It says 9.4 pounds unloaded, but take all this for what its worth.

By comparison, that LMT Piston with all the stuff bolted to it comes in at 12.3 loaded with the sling.

Here are a couple of pictures of my new AR-15. Not the best pictures.
1830
1831

Needless to say I purchased this rifle before I discovered this forum. Since then I have learned a lot. I do not have many specs on this rifle as the seller claims one thing and Stag Arms says another. Long story but crux of it I bought before becoming better informed.
The only thing that is Stag Arms is the lower reciever (and even that left SA in a stripped condition).

I have made some improvements.

1. LMT BCG.
2. H buffer
3. Spector 3 point sling

I have 10 PMags coming from Bravo Company and a MIAD pistol Grip. Eventually I want to do one of two things; either replace the entire upper with and LMT 16" upper or just add some DD Omega 9.0 handguards.

I have not gotten out to shot it yet (very cold and rainy here) but hope to within the next month. (yes I know about the safety)

Thanks Federale. That carbine is really a zen thing where it all just comes together perfectly for me. I may tweak the front sling mounting point a bit, but otherwise it's everything I could ask for, nothing I don't need, and with the QD mount on the optic and the removable light it's just as modular as any other carbine.

Maybe so, but I remember a couple that were "detained" by the SS for shouting out to Mr. Bill, "You suck!". And don't forget that "hate crimes" can only be inflicted upon "minorities" based on race and/or sexual orientation. Personally, I wish I'd thought of putting that on a lower receiver!

Dang Joe,

LOL, Nah I just got my own system. I dont just number them 1 - whatever, the number is actually the date I get them. (871 = 2008, July,1) The pic is a little fuzzy but the other mag is actually 8111 (2008, November, 1). I know, I know, I am a little wierd but its just me, I like to know how old something is and with doing this I know if the mag gives me problems I can immedately see how old it is. I also keep a log of everytime I do anything to each of my firearms and of everytime it is shot to include ammo type used, mag type used and how well it shot with the combination.... or how well I shot with the combination ;). The log for this rifle includes everything that was purchased, where it was purchased and when, and how it performed both times I have had the chance to take it out since it was completed on Jan. 20. The log is still pretty small, you should see the one for my project 1911 :p it's already growing and I aint done yet.

how well does a chopped carry handle hang on? does it have the little 1913 anti-movement nub underneath like the LMT fixed rears?
Mine holds on pretty good. As for the anti-movement nub I have never seen a LMT rear sight up close so I don't know... The next thing I am going to try is making it fit with an A.R.M.S. SIR system when I get it from my buddy.

My .22lr AR, it came to me as a carbine. It's since been threaded, the barrel was extended for OAL purposes (essentially it's just an addon to the flash hider, helps dampen what little recoil there is even more). And now it's been turned into a mid-length model:

Looks like a regular metal body magazine with the Magpul orange follower kit. The ammo looks like some kind of 6.5mm Grendel or whatever they're called. I may be wrong.

No, the LT-150 does not allow for a co-witness. I also have the LT-152 which is a 1/2 inch shorter and allows for a lower 1/3 co witness. I have been switching them back and forth and to be honest I move a lot better with it higher up. I haven't decided how I'm going to leave it yet. I need to get out a run some more drills and make my decision.

My constantly evolving 3gun rifle. You can't see it from the pics but I had the middle turned down to .650" to remove a lot of weight from the upper. The barrel is a White Oak 18" rifle gas SPR barrel. I also replaced the Surefire 556K muzzle brake and am now using a Erik Lund/SJC Titan.

Ok, I know im not the only one that has noticed this, but here and on TOS in the pic threads its a common occurence for USMC03 to be the first post at the top of MANY of the pages....

Coincidence? I think not.
Conspiracy? I think so.

Pics to satisfy pic post gods

I've seen these handguards a bit now, what brand are they? Can you mount rails on the bottom? How do they hold up?

Magpul MOE handguards. you can mount rails at 2 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 10 o'clock If i remember correctly. As to how they hold up, I dont have a set, but its a magpul product so I am willing to be all my money that they are durable as hell.

thanks, I need replacement handguards for my RRA now and want to try something different. I prefer the clean look and style, such as the VLTOR CASEV EL and these Magpul ones.

I stand corrected.
Only because of the evidentiary taped up pistol grip.
Other than that, it looks ready for prime time:)

Rob:

Which handguards are you using on this rifle, and do you recommend them? The reason I ask is because I might have to hold off on purchasing a rail for my mid-length upper receiver.

Thanks.
Sorry, just noticed this. They are Cavarms tapered. Bought from Brownells.

This was my first set up. Colt 14.5 barrel, CMT upper and Fulton Lower; all the small parts are from either DPMS or Bushmaster.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/yucapote/Guns/CustomAR15cropped.jpg

This is how it looks nowadays. The handguard is a 2 piece by YHM, the rest is from the usual suspects.

Stick, I value your opinions and photography! What you you think of the LMT's? And how they compare to the other big two (Colt, Noveske) in a duty capacity?
