Not as nice as some other set ups here but I'm currently tinkering with the TA02 ACOG. The set up is

BCM 14.5 upper/KAC RAS/pinned BC 1.5/BCM BCG/BCM Gunfighter CH.
DD M4 Lower with magpul MOE.

On a side note, I bought two ACOG TA02's and realized I was going to go in a different direction with another build. So if anyone is looking for a pretty much BNIB TA02 (only zeroed on a M4 now sitting back in the original box with a all paperwork) I might let it go for a good price or trade it.

This was my old set up. I love the ACOG but man do I miss my eotech and magnifier for versatility. Although It surprised me how fast I was able to make effective hits with the reticle set on very bright and using BAC.

he may be cross dominant. I've seen pics of mike pannone running his optics on a riser for the same reason

i just do not understand that logic. training one's eyes can overcome this, as I have done. left eye dominant, right handed. it is easy for me to just switch to my right eye, even with both eyes open. alternatively, shooting lefty is an option. i shoot both hands, both eyes.

Not new to firearms, but this is my first AR-15 build. It is kind of a Frankenstein, but it shoots very well and I like it.

-AR57 lower with RRA LPK
-Geissele SSA-E 2 stage trigger
-Special Ops Tactical Thunderstreak upper, 16" 1:7 (not bad, not bad)
-Vltor CASV-ELT hanguard
-Magpul CTR stock and MBUS rear sight (modified)
-MFT grip (swapping to magpul MIAD)
-Burris PEPR quick detach scope mount
-Leupold Mark AR Mod 3-9x40 with green dot (absolutely LOVE this scope for the price)

Personally, I didn't like the height of the X300 Ultra on the top rail. Plan on trying it this way for a few range trips.

Also have a IWC Thorntail Mount on the way that I am going to try (http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/thorntail-1913-offset-adaptive-light-mount/)

No I had seen a pic of one that ssracer did on his rifle. I liked the idea and he modified the afg2 for me (so that it would fit up nicely with the vertical fore grip).

I've had a few people ask about the 1913 section on the Centurion Arms CMR rail, and if it fits low profile. The answer is yes, it curves to blend with the rail so it remains very low profile.

I lost the AFG as well. Just couldn't get used to it and had a hard time 'locating' my support hand on transitions. It now sits permanently mounted on my auto shotgun and works well with it. Same here with DD rails. Went away from them as well but still use a BAD which of course works great w/a RediMag.

Thank you, looking at it I forgot to get the anti seize greece off of the stock extension tube, lol. I live like 20 minutes from Geissele and cannot wait to pick up a MK4 to put on another upper I am working on. Roger hooked me up also from BAD, so big thanks to him as well.

i am getting tons of goodies shipped to me this week (its almost enough to make me forget how much $ i spent :D). gen 2 noveske lower, lpk for it, geissele mk2 rail, and a simple ff tube and upper receiver for a spare parts gun. i havent ordered the barrel yet though. this is how it its set up now (but not for long)

It's a Block II CQBR clone, which isn't all Colt by construction. But they are Colt where they need to by (mine is Colt down to the RE, FCG, grip, H3 buffer, ambi selector).

For us clone builders, having critical Colt parts is a big deal. Someday I will buy another Colt 10.3" barrel for it. The stripped lower receiver is Noveske but most small parts are Colt. Here's the same lower with an all-Colt Mk18 upper from SAW...eventually I will Form 1 my spare Colt lower to form a complete rifle.

Anyway, we're deviating from the purpose of the thread. We don't want this to devolve....

Yeah Stick I think I need some lessons as well, along with armors courses and whatnot, M4 should offer an AR photo class through you! I would sure as shit sign up. I love the all white background, if there is a program that I can use on my Mac or setting on my camera, please let me know, the camera is a Sony A55. I do not know how to use any of the features on this camera, while I know it is not a 5000+ camera I know that I can do more with it then I am able to do.

Stick would you have any interest in opening a thread on taking photos of an Ar, firearms etc?. Maybe some pointers for what general settings work the best, WB, etc. I know everyone has a generally different camera, but just some standard settings that may be able to capture the firearms better or anything else that may help us that need it.
If you do that would be awesome, if not just as well and I understand;), I thank you for your pictures, you are by far my favorite photographer!

Have you tried that DD offset mount on the top rail? I am wanting to off set a MRDS on an NSR and am trying to avoid using any mountable panels so the top rail is my only option. How does it change the offset angle if mounted on top if you've tried it? Never touched one so I am not sure. Thanks.

Today I installed a Troy Delta/Vtac Rail, it turned out very nice and was a breeze to install. I also threw on the TLR-1HL which is like having a portable sun or your rifle, and I replaced the MOE with a B5 Bravo, and of course we had to put some quality optics on top so the Aimpoint Pro is a natural choice. She can't wait to take it out and try it, hopefully after her 5K this weekend we will be able to. Now i cant decide if i want to spoil her with a Geissele or not.

Added a Surefire and pressure switch to my 6920 and put some squid grips on my Delta Rail. It took a while but the Delta Rail has grown on me. Has not come loose and is very solid.

Today I installed a Troy Delta/Vtac Rail, it turned out very nice and was a breeze to install. I also threw on the TLR-1HL which is like having a portable sun or your rifle, and I replaced the MOE with a B5 Bravo, and of course we had to put some quality optics on top so the Aimpoint Pro is a natural choice. She can't wait to take it out and try it, hopefully after her 5K this weekend we will be able to. Now i cant decide if i want to spoil her with a Geissele or not.

My buddy was wanting a "smooth tube" for his AR. After I showed him your picture he asked me to order him one. Hopefully we'll have it installed by Wednesday.

Does it just pop in under the delta ring and then bolt on to the barrel nut? I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any instalation info on the internet.

If you can remove the handguards and turn a screwdriver you are all set to install an delta rail. Four hands help or a handguard removal tool if the delta ring on the rifle is stubborn. I used a detachable carry handle as a jig to make sure the rail was properly aligned.

This is a rifle I had built for my son commemorating his enlistment in the Navy. It's engraved with the Navy emblem plus the date he was sworn in and the date he graduated Boot Camp. The front of the magwell has "H C C" which stands for Honor Courage Commitment along with the Boatswain's Mate emblem which he started off as along with CVN-74 which is the John C. Stennis Aircraft Carrier he is assigned to. The serial number is his initials and birth date. It’s made by Black Dawn here in Sedalia, MO which is also his hometown so it’s pretty cool to have that city and state stamped on the lower.

The barrel is a 20” heavy profile that’s threaded should he ever want to add a suppressor down the road. The 15” rail is free-floating that accepts the picatinny adapters and is designed by the owner of Black Dawn. The bolt is nickel boron coated which is a really nice feature as well as the Magpul PRS stock and Magpul Enhanced trigger guard. It’s topped with a Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 6x18 scope with the Mil Dot reticle and the Leupold Mark 2 IMS mount. Since it’s going to be primarily used for varmint hunting, some deer hunting and just regular plinking at various ranges, I still need to get a bipod put on it for him. He’ll have to cover the expense of a better trigger which will most likely be either the Wilson or Geissele 3 gun offerings.

He was back last week from deployment for a few days which also happened to be at the time of his birthday. Having the gun completed to give to him was a great bonus and he was ecstatic with it. The first three shots grouped within a 1/2" at 100 yards with 55gr Federal American Eagle ammo and the gun functioned flawlessly in the 200 rounds we ran through it. It will be really interesting to see what this thing will do with a better trigger and some premium ammo as even with the cheap stuff, no grouping exceeded 1" MOA. I “reluctantly” agreed to play around with it while he’s gone to see what it likes the most but stressed the importance of his hurrying up and getting a trigger shipped to me although I have a sneaking suspicion who will actually be buying the trigger LOL!

After we got it dialed in, we set up a little "Shooting Gallery" just to blast at and have fun with along with testing the functionality of his rifle. With three of us out there with AR's, we set up 30 targets and it was some great, friendly competition to see who could hit the most in the shortest time using various shooting positions...good times!

Put a BCM comp and grip on my rifle. I like the vertical style grip better after trying it. Now I need to get them out to the range for a proper test and some better pictures.

Thanks man. No it doesn't get in the way at all. Was wondering about this myself b/c the light mount sits so high but it doesn't affect visibility.

Installtion is very simple. The top section which resides between the FSP and the upper is a removable piece that lifts off toward the rear. After removing the sling mount on the fsb, and the handguards, the lower section slides onto the barrel and indexes with the teeth of the standard barrel nut. After this you grab the 2 half moon tension pieces that apply tension on the barrel nut with a screw on the bottow of each side and also allow the attachment of the rear removable section with 2 screws on the top of each side. Align it up with the upper and tighten down the 4 screws and the rail is installed.

Thanks for that! I should be able to get his installed by Wednesday. Hopefully he'll just let me take it home for a night to get it on. But more than likely, we'll just put it on at work.

I shot an AR15 for the first time about a year ago. I was instantly hooked and had to get one for myself. Well, after about two months researching I decided on a Daniel Defense M4V5, made the purchase on Gunbroker, and am now the proud owner of one. The rifle came in this morning at my FFL. Frickin awesome.

I just wanted to thank you guys for all of the information you've made available to me. I plan on adding some sights to it, I have a Troy Folding M4 front sight on the way. I haven't decided on the rear yet. Still debating between the circle and the diamond. I don't know... Initially I wanted to keep it all black, but I'm kind of digging that Olive Drab. We'll see.

Here's a pic, I think this one makes the 634th picture of a bone stock V5 on this site, but this one is mine. :dance3:

That color is Krylon camo brown. The picture alterations I guess give a bronze hue to it and its on the West coast getting some work done on it.

Found a Noveske Gen II Chainsaw lower today locally. Paid $259 for it. That does not suck entirely IMHO. :D Now what to do with it?
I know they are supposed to blemished lowers but I have gone over again and again and do not see one thing wrong with it in any way. Not that I care. It is a tool to be used so who cares.

My two boys. The railed one I've posted a page or so back already. Since then my EO 512 has come in. The KISS rifle (NY made Bushmaster Patrolman) is for work, but I have used it to put down a few hogs. :D

Found a Noveske Gen II Chainsaw lower today locally. :D Paid $259 for it. That does not suck entirely IMHO. Now what to do with it.

My vote is a .300 Black. For some reason Chainsaw and 300 Blk just sound like they fit.

I know they are supposed to blemished lowers but I have gone over again and again and do not see one thing wrong with it in any way. Not that I care. It is a tool to be used so who cares.

I never found a scratch on mine, but in the sunlight it looks purple.. :dirol:

Rattle can fixes that easy enough.

That's odd. I don't think I'd be very happy if I paid full price for a purple urple lower. I haven't painted mind yet. Waiting for the stamp to get back and after I engrave it. Probably will be avero paint with a gym bag overlay pattern. :)

Built my Noveske Gen II lower this afternoon. Replaced the Aero Precision lower (nothing wrong with it at all) I had on my BCM mid length.
