The straps that you have passing through the slot in the butt stock, are you using them as a rear sling attachment and if so, do you recall who made them?

They are my rear sling attach points. They are from ZAhal. I have all 4 of my rifles using it:

ETA: just saw the thread in the lights section. Looks solid.

The way the sides of the DD front sight are radiused along with the protective wings of the EXO make activating the rockers very easy. The wings sort of act like a funnel yet there is still enough room to switch to constant on.

I honestly haven't had much time on it yet but am liking it a lot so far.

My new and first AR! Just got the lower today! It's a BCM 16" BFH upper with a Troy VTAC Alpha 13" rail. The lower is a BCM blem (I have yet to find the blem) from Grant with a B5 Systems SOPMOD Bravo stock. The sling is a Blue Force Gear VCAS padded. My front sight is moved back because I have a Streamlight TLR-1 on the way that I will mount in front of it. Sights are Daniel Defense :D

Thanks. The mount is an ADM, not Larue. NSR 15'' around a CLE/Douglas recon barrel.

Got it late this afternoon so haven't had much time on it Bore sighted it and went over to my buddy's range behind his house. I didn't have any quality ammo at the time. Just M193 but still managed a 1.57" (100yards) group from a 14.5" DD pencil barrel after getting it sighted in. Not too shabby I thought. Ever since I read Trident's post on his DD LW barrel I've been really curious to see what one of those things can do with quality ammo. Especially after it gets heated up.

What type of Optic is that and what are its specs also which mount are you using for the scope. Does the FSB get in the way of your scope in the lowest magnification.

That's a SWFA 1-6x in an ADM Recon mount. He shouldn't be seeing his front sight.

Thanks for the info! I was asking if the mount would clear a fixed FSB. I just got done building 2 16 inch middies and I want to set one up with a Aimpoint PRO for the 1-9 twist and a nice 1-4 or maybe 1-6 variable power but I want to clear the FSB for the 1-7 twist. I build a Mk12 Mod 0 earlier this summer and have my Eotech 512 w/ G23 setup but have not gotten a chance to sight in the Nikon 4-16x42 M223 BDC 600. I have been trying to get 500rds of Mk262 or the Colt Hunting and Defense Match 77gr Sierra MatchKing by Blackhills that MidwayUSA is selling which is the as Mk262.

What is the scope and specs of the optics and what mount is that? Does the scope clear the FSB in the lower magnification or is the mount allow the scope to be co-witness in the lower settings?

Ignore my red neck barricades and target stands made from pallets in the background. ;) I have about 1/2 dozen of them in my backyard. As you may surmise, I am quite single. :) They work great and the only cost involved are the nails!

I noticed your new avatar before you changed to your most recent one. Seriously good luck in that endeavour man. That would be the ultimate for me-to set up a quality higher end shop.

About the VX-6: I honestly don't have any longer range practice with it minus the 100 yard sight in I did last weekend. Yeah as others have said the 2.5 mil increments are too far apart but my intended goal for this optic was to mimic a red dot as close as possible but still be able to reach out to 300-400 yards. I am relatively new to the AR low powered variable world so I'll compare it to my last 1-4x I had. The TR-24G.

For some reason my eyes do not like anything but a single red dot on optics, pistol sights, shotgun irons, etc. My eyes just pick them up faster. Yes the SPR reticle has more than just the dot but while 'running and gunning' all I really notice is the little glowing red ball. I just could never get used to the German #4 or my buddy's TR-24 with BAC. I don't even like Eotechs. Like I said I like one RED dot. As stated the primary goal was to mimic an Aimpoint as close as possible yet still have longer range capability. The SPR reticle does this wonderfully. It is VERY fast close up. Part of this is due to the ADM Recon-H mount. It mounts the optic higher up (like a lower 1/3 cowitness RDS) and keeps me from having to get down too far on the gun to pick up the dot. Yeah the trade off is less of an optimal cheek weld while in the prone/higher off set-but the speed it gives me up close is worth the trade off. Love this mount. Another friend has an SR-15 with standard height mount VX-R. Hate how low I have to get to pick up the dot.

Back to the scope. As compared to the TR24, the VX-6 seems to have longer eye relief but a slightly more narrow eye box. Glass is VERY clear. The plastic dials are a little cheesy but I don't expect perfection on a sub $1K 1-6 scope. Dot brightness is very good on a clear day but could be brighter. The motion sensor is brilliant. Not very technical I know but like I said I don't have that much time on it yet. Didn't mean to turn this post into a mini-review. ;)

Thanks man. After working for what amounted to a "Redneck Gun Club" for a year and a half and realizing that ALL of the gun stores in the area are nothing more than that, I've set out to start a High End only shop. The majority of my sales will be online but I will also offer my inventory in a brick and mortar setting.

S&W M&P 15OR. Stock intenals, Magpul furniture, Burris Mtac 1-4x on PEPR mount. Replacing handguard with Rainier Samson Evolution 12.37" soon.

I sold the Fastfire 3 shown on top of the Mtac. It was a nice setup but I don't like the idea of relying on 2 glass and batteries sight systems so I'm gonna throw some BUIS on there eventually.

My humble Colt LE6920.
This one however is complete. Most of the changes are external in nature.
Magpul ASAP, MBUS, CTR, MOE Grip, AFG, Trigger Guard and Multi-Mission Sling (not pictured, I love it). Troy Drop In Rail and Covers. BCM Gunfighter Mod-5 Charge Handle. Complete carbine was Cerakoted by Larson. Aimpoint Pro was zeroed on clay pigeons at 100 yards with my three boy's.

I got mine on Friday. Ordered an extended mount today. It's impressive for the price point. This is my first dabbling in a low power variable. I tried to take some through the glass pics but my iphone kept focusing on my front sight.

Upper is all Colt (6920 take-off barrel) w/ Troy battlerail, PA red dot and surefire x300 ultra. PA red dot will be replaced by an H-1 when funds allow. An A2 aperture replaced the A1 rear aperture and a VCAS sling rounds it out. This is mainly a HD/Range rig for now, but it's solid!

Just Recently Purchased a Blem PSA Upper and Stag Arms Lower

Photos for anyone wanting to know if the PSA uppers match Stag Arms Lowers, in my opinion its almost spot on or Im just lucky. Either way I plan to send the upper and lower to a shop to get cerekoted in a Tungsten Grey.

I picked up a newer production Colt LE6920 to go with my SP6920 purchased in 09/2011. I kind of wish they had kept the carry handle but oh well! I really like the new roll marks too!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to permanently attach this LaRue hand stop? If you are unfamiliar with them they are attached by sliding it on the rail and placing index clips forward and rear to keep it from sliding on the rail. I like it at the forward most position (fan of finger hooks) and do not want to move it back. It is very tight on the rail and hasn't moved at all after playing with it quite a bit this afternoon. There isn't enough surface area to drill a hole and screw a cross bolt through it.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to permanently attach this LaRue hand stop? If you are unfamiliar with them they are attached by sliding it on the rail and placing index clips forward and rear to keep it from sliding on the rail. I like it at the forward most position (fan of finger hooks) and do not want to move it back. It is very tight on the rail and hasn't moved at all after playing with it quite a bit this afternoon. There isn't enough surface area to drill a hole and screw a cross bolt through it.

Could you drill a hole in the bottom of the stop, then drill and tap the rail bottom? There's quite a bit of area right behind the finger groove. Or maybe use one of the rail inserts from like a RFG for the MOE rails?

If you could create a notch in the walls, you could run a zip tie around it. That would probably hold it place.

Made me think of something. The Centurion has holes drilled on the bottom rail at about every 5th recoil lug. If I can find one that is under the hand stop with enough area to hold tight I may go that route. Thanks.

Have considered that as well but if I can come up with a more secure and cleaner look I am going to go that route first. Appreciate the input bud.

How do you like the Eotech 553? I've been eyeing it but can't decide if I like the EXPS 3-0 line better.

I've only been able to put three mags through my AR with the 553, all at 10-50 yards. Going from a T-1 to an Eotech, I think I'm going to like the eotech better. I know that's blasphemy to some, I like the 65 MOA ring and the tiny dot (1 moa?) for more precise shots. The T-1 (or any aimpoint) has a definitive advantage in battery life and weight.

Between the EXPS-0 or 553, I think that's just going to be a personal preference. I imagine the EXPS might have a slight weight advantage, however the 553 might have a bit longer life due to having 2 batteries instead of 1. (but all of that is speculation without having actually looked up the specs.)

That's all I can comment on now without getting more time behind the 553.

The center dot is 1 MOA. As for the EXPS vs 553, remember that the design of the EXPS was to fix the issues encountered by the original models. It was recommended to me that I buy the XPS/EXPS before I got my 553 and wish that I had listened.
