The SBR is a 6PX and the carbine is a G2X; both the single output 200 lumen models, both in Gear Sector mounts.

Gotta go with the NSR for now, but not by much. Once the CMR accessories start flowing I think it'll be tough to beat with how easy/solid the installation is. Both are quality pieces.

Very nice setup, just don't understand why geissele put picatinny at the end of the rail. That's the spot you would most likely be running a keymod accessory like a light mount etc.

That's why they put pic rails there. It's not a keymod system and was made so that can add a light or something w/o needing to buy additional components. KAC's URX rails are like this too as well as many others.

Yeah but it completely defeats the purpose of the keymod system. One of it's great benefits is to be able mount your accessories the lowest profile possible, and sandwiching a 1913 rail between the accessory and the rail is definitely not as low profile.

LOL gotcha brother, was looking at it from my small cell phone screen. I have seen the geissele keymod rail and it had the same 1913 sections there, so I thought they were one in the same. Sorry about the confusion

Need to get a different QD socket for the rail instead of the 4" piece that I'm only using for the QD. Not that big of a deal though.

Very productive few hours IMO. Started with some basics, like the 10-10-10, 1-5 (pistol and rifle). Then moved on to some drills that involved more thought. At that point, your mind has to be on processing the scenario you're presented with...things like trigger press, manipulating selector, offset, sight picture, etc. all need to be 'on demand'. Which is a great reflection on whether or not one has a solid foundation.

With the shooter facing uprange, we would arrange targets behind/amongst 'no-shoots'. On the 'threat' command, the shooter would turn 180 degrees to face downrange, and shoot based on the scenario he saw. Sometimes body shots were not an option :) Targets shown illuminated with Surefire Ultra.

Thanks man! Here are some more details:

My purpose for this was to be a general purpose "outside" rifle. For inside work, urban threats, or anything else that I might need a gun for from 0-200 yds, I have a 5.56 SBR with an Aimpoint T-1. Beyond that 200 yds, though, or through intermediate barriers, the 5.56 (even with bonded ammo) is lacking compared to the .308. I actually had the trigger, furniture, sights, optic, and light on a 14.5" AR15. What I determined, though, was that if I was gong to grab something longer and heavier than my SBR, I wanted it to have more ballistic advantage and range too. That led me to looking at semi-auto .308's and the Smith M&P10 quickly caught my attention as a much more affordable option to the LMT or KAC I really wanted. I simply couldn't justify the $3K-$5K pricetag of those two, but the M&P10 was do-able.

I picked up the rifle this past Friday and spent about 45 minutes before work Saturday installing the MI 12" handguard, low profile gas block, Geissele trigger, BCM grip, and B5 SOPMOD stock. Everything went together without issue and the rifle ran beautifully for the 27 rounds I've put through her so far.

The one complaint I have about the rifle is that 3.5" long monstrosity Smith put on the muzzle. That sucker's heavy too. I couldn't believe how much it weighed when I removed it to install the handguard. I'd rather see Smith ship the rifle with an A2. It would be less cost involved on the front end and probably have about the same performance. As for me, I have a JP Tactical Comp on the way that will be shorter, and I suspect do a better job of keeping the rifle flat for quicker follow-up shots.

I think you're confusing that red dot with the M4s, which has the battery compartment on the lower right hand side (that's the only way it can be mounted).

And if your dial is mounted at 1 o'clock, then your sight is canted...

Aimpoint 3x mag with Larue swivel mount and an Aimpoint CompM4s. I did not think that it was that uncommon? I updated the pictures the first ones were not posted right. I am left handed so i have to push the sivel mount to drop the 3xmag instead of pull it...

I think he was referring the the magnifier, and MBUS are backwards and the aimpoint it not on the receiver but on the rail

I like the mbus backwards for some reason I can see through the first sight better, Being left handed, the larue mount only works this way for me. If install it other way, it folds down into my view and is in the way. Pleasures of being left handed. The rifle is 1 moa at 100yards with the current set up so it works for meh!

People mount the MBUS backwards based on preference so no biggie. I would move the MBUS off the gas block to keep it from melting however.
On the magnifier. It appears to be facing the correct direction, with the housing screws (inside the rubber) towards the front, but why wouldn't you mount the larue rings on the correct part of the magnifier, the front, only facing with the lever to the right still to:
1. allow it to swing the direction you want
2. Be mounted on the intended part of the housing
3. cantilever to the rear allowing the aimpoint to still be mounted on the receiver.

Just got the Magnifier yesterday and didnt not realize that the rubber piece comes off and can placed on either end, so it can be mounted either way. NOW it is on proper! MUCH BETTER Thank you!

How much does that puppy weigh? It looks very handy for a 308

9.6lb is what I get without a mag. Not bad for a .308 gas gun at all. Most of the weight is from the receiver back, too, so the balance, handling doesn't feel any different to me than most 16" AR's with 12" rails. In fact, I know some of those are heavier than this.
