Hey if you don't mind me asking -what lowers are you guys using on these builds? I noticed that both of you suffer from the MOE K2 gap. I just installed one on my third rifle last night and experienced it for the first time. It's a Northtech Defense lower and the gap is minimal but definitely there. I have another on a Seekins and an Umbrella Corp forged and they leave no gap whatsoever. At first I thought it was a billet issue until I saw your forged up close, Voodoo_Man.

I'm gonna say its the new Noveske KX5 on an 11.5 barrel with a 13" Geissele MK2 rail. Has to be the KX5 since the KX3 doesn't fit in a Geissele rail. 11.5" + 3.25" for the pig puts it a little over an inch past the 13" rail (this is including thread overlap).

Went with the Rustoleum Camo Khaki and Brown. They don't last as long as everything else but the colors are really flat and it makes touch ups cheap and quick.

Thanks bud! I dont mind... Things wear. My current rig is painted earthbrown and I'm pretty satisfied with how it's holding up. Even if it doesn't, it's easy to re-do it. Biggest plus of the rattlecan job IMHO.

Its my Centurion 10" rail that I had some of the rails milled off by a local machine shop. I basically made it into a URX 3.1 profile. In the pic I hadn't put a new finish on it yet where the rails were removed.

That's the only thing different on that rifle other than the VX-6 I removed to take the handguard off for the work done on the rail.

How's the K2 working for you? Just got my GF Mod 2. Feels good so far but I haven't run it yet.

I like the K2. Feels like the Umbrella grip but with better traction and has storage. The BCM Mod 1 is probably still my favorite.

This rifle started out as a compromise. I don't mean to repeat myself but I do like Redi-Mags and running a standard profile barrel with a variable AND with a Redi-Mag....well it gets heavy. So the compromise came in the barrel to keep as much weight off the front of the gun and it makes a huge difference in how the rifle balances. I'll pick up my other rifle (which currently wears a MRDS) and even though it is lighter overall, It actually balances far worse than the rifle with the LW barrel and big variable sitting on top.

The only other thing I want to do is buy an offset rear sight. The cool thing about the Unity Tactical hub is that it mounts the front sight and the light on the same foundation, the hub. You can flip the light to sit on top of the hub and place the folding front sight on the side and boom...you have a front offset sight. Pretty cool.

Overall I am very happy with it.

To be honest, the AR you praised was indeed a tier 1 brand. Or a mix of 3-4 of them at least.

I came from another forum where if it wasn't a tier 1 brand, or if you used quad rails, you were a nobody and got no props and even snubbed. It was annoying, to say the least. Especially when the people who's AR's were snubbed were no safe queens.

The vast majority of carbines featured in this thread are what most would probably consider "tier 1" fighting carbines from reputable manufacturers who are more concerned about building reliable guns for working professionals and serious end-users, and less concerned about selling an image (e.g. BCM, Colt, Daniel Defense, KAC, LMT... the usual suspects). The majority of rigs presented in this thread are set-up to meet the end-users needs/requirements. I doubt you'll find many zombie inspired, color-filled roll mark, shark-face lower receivers, Hello Kitty, NC Star opitc/light/range finder/purple laser all-in-one combo ARs here.

That's a "right on" set up! I too have come to enjoy my ACOG and magnification. I still enjoy my T1 and M3 on other set ups, however if I had to grab "one gun" and run, it would be the one with the ACOG for sure. Kind of in love with it, especially when it rings steel for me at 450+ all day long as if on auto pilot.

No doubt. Aimpoints are great for what they do, but for me, "one gun" needs magnification and while the eye relief may not be the best nothing beats the grunt-proof ACOG.

I threw the T1 on this.

Thanks so much. I used an old gym bag that has the holes to breathe. It's about the same thing as one of the laundry
bags your talking about. I'm sure if you used one of those it would create the same affect.

Use it as a pivot point to shoot from if I have to. Somewhat

It's a factory DD gun, so everything is as it came from the factory. Their gas block and action spring with "H" buffer. Can't get the thing to malf, suppressed or not, even some full-auto (not on this lower obviously).

Geld6, I like it a lot. This particular rifle has not been run hard yet, just a quick irons and Aimpoint zero and some failure drills. It is very comfortable and very sturdy. Feels better in the hand than the Troy rails and this rifle shoots as smooth as a baby's ass. I put a Blackout on it so I have the option of using my can but I prefer to shoot this particular rifle without the can.

Yeah I agree. I think a 10" rail is about as short as I care to go.

I like the sight, don't like how the power button is always pushed when I case it, or lean it against something, after a good amount of shooting this summer and fall decided I want something different, going to put that on another gun or possibly on Father in laws .357 before next deer season

Yeah they are larues, i really like them, doesnt add much girth to the rail at all, A LOT less than a magpul XTM. This pic was me getting the ejection port but you can see the rail covers dont add much to it in the background
