Has anyone ever tried to cut rebar with that thing?
Nope! But I'll lend you mine for testing. Needs an A2 to attach to and M855 to shoot.
Has anyone ever tried to cut rebar with that thing?
Most people on these forums don't even use their rifles to send lead down range let alone sawing rebar with it.
Depends on the round used and gauge of rebar but for all intensive porpoises it will do some "cutting."

It is, every once in awhile I have to show something that isn't Magpul, otherwise the natives get restless. Deep in my cold black heart, there is only the CTR. Colt should have used that instead of that other thing....

If I had meant to call your lady "loose", I would have. That's not at all what I intended so relax. I was talking about MY ability, as I have a "type", and I'm pretty okay with that. Which is why I'll be able to choose which ones I prefer to get any sort of worthwhile photo op with since I will probably need someone to bail me out with THEIR camera work.
I'm neither middle aged, nor am I worried about my ability to get attractive gals. I'm happy you found a classy one or more, that's just not my concern.

Ok...
There is a definite difference in feel of the trigger when they are in backwards. After shoving them in and taking the pics I was dry firing it and thought it was weird when I figured figured out I had them in wrong. While I put them in my SBR'd lowers I'm really not sure of their value and I may not be keeping them as I'm thinking of installing a couple of the Geissele triggers. Thanks again though for taking the time to point it out.

Hey fellas,
New member here. Just picked up my first AR, and you know how it goes...you gotta show it off! :cool:
After months of back and forth, first between an AR and a really nice AK...then after settling on the AR, trying to decide between Colt and Daniel Defense for awhile, the rifle I decided to go with is a Colt LE6920 SOCOM. I went with the SOCOM primarily because of the features it comes with...Troy quad rail, M16 BCG (I think all Colts have that actually), match rear BUIS, H2 buffer, ambi safety selector, the "M4A1 Carbine" rollmark, and the SOCOM profile barrel. Also figured the SOCOM might be a collector item in the future, and you know how people are with Colt if I wanted to sell it down the road.
Some people might ask why in the world do you need a SOCOM profile barrel for semi-auto, but as far as weight is concerned, I've held both the standard 6920 and the SOCOM, and I honestly couldn't tell the difference. The heavier barrel also helps with heat and retaining accuracy with a higher volume of fire, and since I plan on shooting the crap out of it, I wanted a workhorse, completely durable AR that can stand up to a little bit higher level of abuse than others. I read also that the Army is currently in the process of updating all their M4s to the M4A1 model, which have all the features of the SOCOM. I got the rifle for 1200 brand new which I thought was a sweet deal. They usually go for around 1400-1500, so I couldn't pass it up. :D
So far I have put on an Aimpoint Pro, a Magpul MOE grip, and a GG&G foregrip. I also dropped in a B5 Systems Bravo SOPMOD stock, which is an excellent stock IMO. The only other things I plan on adding are a Larue 2 point sling, and a good light...still looking for a really small and lightweight one. Maybe Streamlight TLR? I don't really need the grip-activated switch either, just something simple. Any advice on anything else?
Anyway, just wanted to jump on board...see you guys around. Here are some pics.

If everyone did it the way you did, the levels of point and sputter here would diminish drastically. Me, I'm a sucker for mid-length (but I listened here for a long time and got a BCM middy). I've got a TLR-1 and like it, even if it isn't a Surefire. For my hands and build, the Mossie Tactics Midnight Mount (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BattleComp-Mossie-Midnight-Mount-MT2400FSB-PIC-p/bce-mt2400fsb-pic.htm) works well on a carbine length AR.
Ya done good, man. Now go out and get it carbon-filthy!

IDK, there are some things I noticed on my spikes that seemed to have more attention to detail than on my DDM4v5 LW, to be honest.
My spikes had all three recesses on the castle nut staked neatly, but my DD only has one staked, and it's not even staked properly. The inside of the BCG is also machined smoother on the spikes than the DD (not that it matters), and the DD has bubbles on the corner of the mag well on my new lower they sent me after the first one was out of spec at the grip screw hole.
But then again, sample size for both is one each, so who knows how the other spikes/DD's are.

Its a bcm handle carrier, bcm upper, bcm bolt carrier, bcm a2 stock assembly, daniels defense lower part kit, ALG defense nickel boron coated hammer and trigger assembly, and last the mega lower. All was recently built :) and never been shot before, I have not had the pleasure to go and shoot.
soon to also have a D3 disruptive environments chest rig in the trunk to go with.
Man, that looks awesome! Been wanting to build an AR that looks just like that out of quality parts, if not just buy a colt

I guess I never understood the impetus behind building a heavy 16" AR? MK12 or 20" precision build I can understand. I guess that is the great thing about the platform, so many different variations!

nice rifle. That is a EXPENSIVE Trijicon SRS sight. I had to look it up after I saw the picture. is that sight good to go? advantage of a "sealed reflex sight?"
Stickman doesn't mount and post pics of shit. The sight is good to go; however, one could argue that an aimpoint T-1 or H-1 can do the job just as well for cheaper.

Not to be 'that guy' but those are SSKs not KMRs as far as I know.

Because people are realizing that they've been adding 2-4" of barrel with all the trouble that goes with it, and not really gaining anything.

It's rock solid. I know it appears simplistic in design, but it's definitely considered as an excellent upgrade from the factory A2 buttstock. I think it allows for a better cheek weld, the storage compartment is a heck of a lot easier to open by hand, and I also like knowing I have the option to attach QD mounts near the front and rear of the stock.
And the fact that it is only $60, and Magpul rock solid reliability makes it a huge plus in my book.

Colt 6920 was the moe version changed it after putting 500 rounds through it with the moe handguards (just didnt feel right to me). Troy rail system. Magpul rvg, moe stock, MIAD grip. New add on magpul light mount with streamligh polytac light (130 lumes) great light for the money. And and vortex strikefire.

I don't have to register the pistol, I had to register the lower as a pistol lower. I wish a rifle lower could be used with a pistol upper without an SBR Tax Stamp. Sorry for the confusion. I live in NC, just the lower had to be registered on the 4473 as a pistol at time of transfer. Not a registration as in a list.

You can turn a receiver into a pistol so long as it has never been a rifle. So you the dealer sold you a lower as a "pistol"? I'm not sure that was legal.

yea its not, lowers are receivers and are there for run through the system as "other" and therefore can be used as either rifle or pistol.

I have heard that a lot. I had three, two uppers and one complete MR556.
Oh FWIW, I talked to my gunsmith, he listed it as a receiver in the paperwork. My receipt just said pistol/other when I got it.
