The barrel mounted bipod will throw off whatever accuracy you might get out of that gun. And there's really no point in putting your rear sight there. Having it that far up the rifle is damn near worthless alone, especially since you're going to have to move that optic when it fails before you can use the BUIS.

Now I can take the scope off and move the sight back where it was. But since this gun won't be SHTF gun that probably won't be a problem.

I'm not sure what's wrong with having a collapsible stock on a precision build, I sure do like having an adjustable LOP when shooting from different positions and for adjustability if someone else is shooting it.

Accuracy......I think you are underestimating just how much the slightest wiggle from your stock can preclude you from shooting with consistency.

This hasn't been my experience but to each there own. If you maintain a consistent sight picture then I don't see where a dramatic downward shift in accuracy could develop. I'd be more concerned with trigger pull and bullet selection than a little bit of wobble in the stock as long as it's within reason.

Unless I use the :sarcastic: assume I'm being honest in asking for your personal experience. As in throw grouping info and such in your post.
That ACS-L has a friction lock included that takes a large portion of the wobble out of collapsing stocks. When properly utilized it'll allow for precision.

If you don't have a comment for somebody, it's more efficient to simply NOT SAY ANYTHING than it is to quote a post and make a comment. The fact that you made a comment to say that you had no comment to make....again, the forum and it's members are unlikely the causal factor for strife.
"It came that way," was sufficient response to a legit question from another member, given that it's impossible to say what he did or did not know about how the rifle's configured. Bear in mind that we note a difference between telling somebody that they made a dumbass comment, versus calling them a dumbass. Given that, and given that YOU agreed to abide by the policies/practices of the forum the moment you registered...you might wannna pump your brakes.
Don't post again in this thread, unless it's a picture of an AR.

Thanks bud. It's an aluminum NN-2 version that started off stripped down and bare. Put two coats of Rustoleum high temp black with stepped up sanding to get a good basecoat. Went with a coat of Rustoleum Satin Dark Taupe color on top of that and stepped up the sanding on it too. The thickness after the first coat of Taupe and lack of sheen was what I was looking for so I stopped there. I prefer Aervoe most of the time but the Rustoleum worked very well with the right surface prep and sanding regimen.

NN-2, pretty sure that's one of the designations for the old Colt alum stocks (correct me if I'm wrong). Got a thing for those old "car" stocks, wish someone made repros : / Thanks for the insight into your process, every time I think rattle cans don't leave good finishes someone comes along and proves me wrong

It is but...it's an ar10 and weighs about 11 lbs. Support hand on the rail. Troy extreme battlerail. The lightest I could find. Her name is tinkerbell. Notice it hanging on the UBR.

Does the Bobro bipod lock securely in the forward position for loading the bipod? Once I realized it was a bell hanging off of what appears to be paracord I had to chuckle.

School me on that wall mount you made!!!!
Had some scrap pallets laying around at work. Cut off a chunk, bolted that to the wall, then sunk some two inch screws about half way into the board - enough that it wouldn't bend when putting force on it with my hand, but out far enough that it could still go in the QD socket. Just make sure the diameter of the screw head is small enough for the QD... and thats about it. :)

Thank you. It was my first build back in 2010ish and I learned a lot from it. Especially with the NFA side of things!
If it wasn't for family and jobs I'd live somewhere else. There are other featureless stocks but I like this one better. Here's another featureless setup, that feels worse to hold but is a lot shorter

800 rounds through my carbine during a class on Saturday. Not a single malfunction other than those intentionally set up. Ate every type of ammo I fed it - 55gr herters, PMC, Remington, Federal XM855 and 193.

yes it is a ton of stuff on that bitch. it weighs in at a whopping 10.5 lbs with a loaded 30 rounder...but i have not weighed it with a 10 rounder which i usually have in there. i once had a lighter stock on her, but it felt way too front heavy at one point. i got the UBR and she now feels balanced...but heavy.
to me, it's heavy...to dolph lundgren, it's probably like carrying a pistol.
she shoots pretty damn tight once i planted her down and zeroed her in.
Actually if you lose the vfg and the little finger thingy you would have a decent predator management rig. It would still be a bit heavy for my taste though.

I'm glad someone likes it, I'm not completely sold on the tape yet.
The rifle is a Colt C/H a1 upper (probably export), I machined out a lower forging on my brother-in-laws bridgeport milling machine, had it engraved, and sprayed it with norell's grey-black moly-resin (baked it in my ingenious gun part curer: an upside down toaster over with a large glass door, upside down due to the top heating coil being non functional). Non-trapdoor stock (my preference) triangle guards, 20 in. barrel from AR15sport.com, and spider BCG (local dealer gave me discount on BCG as I work EMS).
The tape was just an attempt to have a rifle look like this:

Just bought a roll of green gaffer's tape from flea bay, went to work cutting out some template pieces for the handguards on my wife's flat cookie tray. I also liked the look of green tape on the flashiders (most nam pics have tape on XM177 moderators) Any thing else you want to know, I'll gladly tell you. I should have attached my cleaning rod to the side of the rifle.

The lower was built with a 70 something page PDF from the internet that some gentleman was kind enough to put together after his experiences machining them at home. Not too difficult except for the magwell which was a little nerve racking to do:eek: The end result was nice though, something to be proud of. Its always a pleasure to pick up my A1 and feel how light it is compared to my Colt 6920

My absolutely no self discipline build thanks to the BCM sale. Have no need for a 3rd AR, but backups are good. Upper: BCM 16" middie w free bcg and comp. Lower: complete factory Spikes. Accoutrements: random spare Magpul parts I had laying around. Great, simple, cheap and quality rifle. Will eventually add a MVG and magpul scout mount or cantilever rail to finish it up. Purple tape is for HD mags with Hornady TAP loaded up.

I actually have some uppers with rear sights but no front sights. They're just for fun so I don't need backup sights. But, I have red dot sights on them and if I'm trying to make a more precise shot I sight through the small aperture in the rear sight. It cleans the dot up to make it look like a dot rather than a weird blob.

Finally got my BCM 14.5" Midlength ELW upper w/ pinned surefire brake out on the range... EOTech and BUIS zero'd first at 50yds with the bipod, then went to standing, kneeling, prone shooting. This thing is so light compared to my previous setup. I think this is 7.8lbs w/ loaded mag?

The big brown truck dropped off my new ELW-F yesterday, couldn't resist the sale. Almost freaked out because they didn't show up till 9pm. Just ran 200 rounds through her and she's definitely a keeper. I was really surprised the mod 0 brake wasn't bad at all, that's also going to be a keeper. Just need my rear sight to come back from Troy and it's done.

Pretty much every where I looked I saw at least one rifle.
Even the girl I had a casual fling with always had hers. But they take the firing.pins from them at the end.of the.work day/week.
I'm not sure about some of the guys I saw in Jerusalem though, the few I talked too did have firing pins, and ammo. But I'm not sure they were IDF or some security.
