Pure jealousy!! One would ask, why someone would need that many AR's, but my only logical response would be, why not?? That's an awesome family picture!

It's a kak sig tube. The first one they came out with. Works great. If would get the newer one though if I do it again.

Not on here all that much these days, but still stop in occasionally. I put together my first AR pistol last week! Pretty basic and I still need an optic, light, sling setup, etc but at least it's together. As always, thanks to the folks here who embraced a total noob from the start and helped me get a decent start in the right direction. Below is the DDM4 which was my first AR snagged at the suggestion of many here. And then the recently built pistol. PSA blem lower (my very first try at assembling a lower), BCM 11.5" upper, KAK Sig tube kit, Magpul MOE SL handguard.

I think it's a great "all around" optic. It's fast to pick up the dot and great for distance. The reticle is spot on if your bullet weight matches the reticle. It is a bit on the heavy side but if that isn't an issue for you, then this is a great option. Price is a bit steep but it's built tough.

Hahah, the daniel defense shoots as smooth as butter compared to the other one (that was my first AR) I'm still shocked at how light my DD is, with my Aimpoint , and extras, it's still lighter than the Windham as is. And the aimpoint pro is a bit heavy in my opinion

You're only taking a picture with maybe a 2-3 mp camera, it'll never touch a real camera with 10+ mp.

Actually, the iTouch's come with a 5mp camera, and even still, mp is only an indication of image size, not necessarily quality. A good 5mp camera is perfectly capable of taking decent enough pictures.

If you're going irons only, the XS front sight posts are great. Just put one on my rifle a few weeks ago, I went for the standard dot as opposed to the post or big dot. This is a house-only rifle, and it's a lot quicker than the post, but not so large that it feels too big. The bar is a lot more precise-feeling, though, so for a general purpose rifle, it might be better... I'll edit in a sight picture pic in a few minutes.

This is a mediocre pic. It doesn't show you what your eye would see. I'll take one more like what the eye sees tonight or tomorrow.. Probably will set up a target 10 or 15 yards away to show the size.

Thanks man.
This is a spare parts gun. I threw it together over the past couple months.
I bought the PA magnifier to see if I wanted to spend the cash on an Aimpoint. It is a decent optic and it is pretty clear. It seems to have a bluish hue to it and it is not as crisp as am Aimpoint or an Eotech. It is slower to acquire targets in close but it seems to really shine at 150 yards and beyond. I also use to to zero my rifles. I generally keep it in my range bag so I can use it as needed.
I am happy with the MI rail. MI seems to have stepped up their game. I prefer a KMR but at $100 less, the MI fits this rifle fine.
Sunday I hit a 3"X5" index card at 200 yards 3 out of 5 shots with Federal Tactical 55gr Sierra Game kings with this set up.

I wish HK were more caring about people and lower prices and sell 16.0" / 14.5" and 10.5" that would fit a Reg. AR15/M4 Carbine Lower Receivers. I want so bad the 14.5 & 10.5 to add to my SBR Lower Receiver. I can't afford 3-4 thousand dollars per upper.

My buddy had one and was unimpressed. The 'legs' are rather flimsy and if you run it extended running & gunning for a while it tends to get 'bent' or tweaked to where it doesn't want to collapse. It also doesn't give you a good purchase with which to get a cheek weld either. I really wanted to get one for a PDW project but after his experience I decided that it seemed like more of a $400 beta test than a finished product that costs 4x more than it's closest competition. For the price you shouldn't have that many complaints let alone that many core competency complaints.

I am not an H&K fanboy, and I do not own a single H&K product or accessory.
My impression is that HK has to put up with a lot of shit that most gun companies don't have to, jumping through hoops on both sides of the ocean with a government that frowns on civilian ownership of "tactical"/"military" type firearms.
German export laws sound like a real bitch, and appear to go a long way in explaining the weird oddball configurations (non-chrome-lined heavy barrels on the 416, incompatibility with MR uppers and regular AR lowers, etc.) and higher prices we see here.

Here's just 2 links I found in literally 2 seconds of searching:

I agree. It's not yet complete like my XM16E1
http://i.imgur.com/Oh185Y0.jpg

Now that is a good looking rifle. Nicely done.

My next retro project will be a 605. I already have a XM607, XM177E2, 653, 723 (early), 723 (late), 727, 602, and 603/A1.

Nice Colt (at least the receiver looks like it has Colt markings) I've seen it posted a few times in this forum and I always take a minute to admire the setup and paintjob (like the A1 grip btw). Whats the barrel length? 10. something inches?

She's sporting a 10.3" Colt factory barrel from Specialized Armament. It was expensive, but I really wanted a shortie that would run and run and that was spec'd right. I figured Ken Elmore knows WTF he is doing so the extra $$$$ was worth it to me.

As most of you have seen in my other post i was in the market for a complete upper and i ended up going with the BCM 16" mid length 13"KMR ELWF and could not be happier. The thing is so light and so sexy!!! lol. Hopfully place an order tomorrow for a complete lower and get some irons and it'll be ready to shoot. Future plans are optics, sling, light...still deciding on those. 2893428935289362893728938

Damn, I think I shoulda got the 13" KMR instead of the 10"! Looks great, will be a nice build.

It has to do with the featureless AR in California, its a non pistol grip https://sites.google.com/site/featurelessrifleguide/non-pistol-grips

Yup. It's a kydex grip wrap. It Allows me to to run a standard magazine release. I'm in California and without the wrap (and a few other features) I would need a bullet button.

Yeah to the shooter it was hard to see, but at 240 fps I singled out the frame with the flare, the following shots had much less flash But man that PXT comp was crazy, even with a 3x optic my vision was obscured by the fireball.

Hang around here long enough and you will be trading it in for something far better. Gotta start somewhere, I guess, but you are bout to learn the error of your ways.

Read up on staking castle nuts and making sure your BCG has them. Then start asking yourself if you feel comfortable running it through 1,000+ rounds without cleaning it without malfunctioning.

First time I ever did low light/ no light drills I decided to more brakes or BattleComps for me. The last one I have is pinned on a 14.5". Also I've noticed the ammo you shoot makes a huge difference! Some cheap stuff flashes like crazy, some nicer ammo has flash retardant in it. I believe that Ramshot TAC does too. I've noticed Varget makes a big flash in an AR too.

Cool pics though! Slowing those frames looks like it could be quite revealing!

I'm sure your points are valid, but why would I put 1000 rounds through it without cleaning it?! I'm ex-Army, my weapon will be cleaned regularly!

Clean or dirty doesn't seem to matter. What matters is proper lubrication. Over cleaning is also not a good thing.

Approach this with an open mind.

There are course and training that will put your carbine over 1K rounds in just two days, some way over. Instructors like Pat Rogers will advise not to clean your weapons between days. This is to prevent students from incorrectly putting their weapon back together (it happens) and they do not have a back up if something breaks. It also gets the student more comfortable that their weapon, and the platform in general, can go the distance without the rigorous cleaning that many have come to expect from the rumor mills of the Stoner gas impingement system.

I'd start here.

This X1000. This will wear parts faster. Also improper cleaning can do this.

To get membership to the Dirty 1K Club of course.

This is done by after going 1K rounds to put on a white shirt and clean your weapon. All the gunk and black from the cleaning will stain the shirt, which then you should promptly frame and put it on the wall.

This weapon went over 3K rounds with just reapplication of lube. No cleaning. That means my primary weapon can go 3K without a breakdown to clean. (If that situation arises, the world has gone to hell x10 to the 50).

I appreciate the feedback. Being ex-Army, I do know my way around the M-16/M-4 platform, however this is the first AR I have owned. I'm willing to bet that the way I was trained to clean my service rifle was not ideal. It does seem that having the castle nut staked is a good safety precaution, but seems like it can be done aftermarket to my existing rifle. After some research, there are only a few things I could find that weren't up to Colt/mil spec on this Bushmaster. The before mentioned castle nut, my barrel has a 1/9 twist as opposed to 1/7, and I'm not sure if the barrel is chrome lined or not.

Shoot it, enjoy it, clean it when needed. If your happy, and it goes bang when you pull the trigger thats what matters.

Because it's a Bushmaster you will receive a lot of advice when posting about it. If you really want to know why their are plenty of threads to be searched for to learn why. If it works for you then great. I'd rather see someone buy a BM AR then be scared of the AR. At some point you may want to upgrade to a BCM/Colt/DD, they are addicting. All in all, Welcome to the Black Rifle Club.

There are lots of non-spec things on your bushy, including barrel twist, barrel steel, gas port diameter, bolt carrier group (material, dimensions, quality testing, receiver extension material and likely diameter, buffer, small parts material and dimensions, gas block attachment, spring material, etc.

In the end, don't worry about it. Shoot it often and so long as it meets your needs, who cares? When it breaks or wears out, replaces the affected parts with higher quality and roll.

In reguards to the barrel, chrome lining will extend the life of a barrel, but a non chromed lined barrel is more accurate. There is tons of threads about the differences in twist and chrome lining, but when it comes down to it your barrel is fine, but because its not chrome lined you want to clean it after shooting. Its not worth changing out the barrel, if you ever do need to replace it, then you might want to go with a 1/7 chrome lined barrel, but its not necessary.

I agree with Tylerw02

Its not as evil as everyone thinks...just use what works for you. I have an Aimpoint but prefer the C-More for where/how I shoot. The batteries are hard to find locally, I just buy duracells for it off ebay and keep spares in my grip. I don't leave it running when not it use anyway, so batteries last

Swapped my ferfrans CRD out for a surefire 3 prong. Lighter and less flash but less muzzle control. Might just swap back and forth every now and then. Dbal-i2 being delivered on Tuesday. 5 of them actually. Got a deal on em. Going to sell them. Then the question is elcan for this, or PVS-14 and helmet rig. #1stWorldproblems

DBAL is useless w/o PVS-14 and helmet. Obvious choice there. Also consider a Surefire M300V for lighting up the night in IR. ;)

Can one just buy a replacement head instead of buying a whole new 300v?

Unless I'm missing it, looks like that's only an option for 2-battery Scout lights and then its listed $300.

I'm happy with mine so far, and the X300V.

Yes here is a link to a tan one http://www.adorama.com/SFKM1AATN.html , and the black http://www.adorama.com/SFKM1ABK.html, but it is not much cheaper than buying a new light

Yes. The KM1 head is exactly that.

Oddly enough, B&H Photo is priced a touch under Optics Planet on both colors.

Still debating on whether or not to put an Atlas bipod on it. She shoots moa or under with everything I've tried except Winchester ammo (power max 64gr).this isn't my only rifle, but it's my favorite so far!

Put the bipod on when you need it, take it off when you don't. Problem solved; problem staying solved. No reason to have extra junk when you're not using it.

How do you like the Micro Hub? I was considering one for my AR

It's actually the full size hub, not the micro, but I like it a lot so far. Light, low profile, lots of mounting options and great customer service after having an issue with an out of spec clamp.

The plan was to use the hub for a DBAL-i2 at 12:00 with the M300 mounted with their off-set wing, but since the ATPIAL-C is actually happening I might eventually ditch the hub all together and mount the M300 with a KAC mount. Until then I'm enjoying the setup.

New rifle arrived today. Noveske Rogue Hunter, 16" barrel, I do like it. The rifling does not look to be polygonal, at least it doesn't look like the barrel in my HKP7. Very nice rifle, though and now starting to study optics. Magpul or Troy BUIS? Not sure.

Nice stick there Sir. I am a fan of the Troy flip ups. When it comes to optics depends on the application and budget.

Nice rifle sir, she won't let you down. I recommend the Magpul irons as they are of superb quality and construction, easy to use and can be had for a moderate price point. For optics, unmagnified I highly recommend Aimpoint, within the magnified category, Vortex makes a fine series of optics within a wide scope of applications and price.

Turns out the rifling is polygonal, but visually different from what the Germans do. I think this is a Gen 1 lower, but not sure. I will be going for magnified optics, Vortex has been recommended, but also the Nikon M223, which is pretty much set up for this rifle, as I understand it.

Very nice rifle, I hate Magpul BUIS, but that is my personal preference, I always use either Troy folding battlesights or Daniel Defense Fixed BUIS. I dont like the rear apeture on Magpul sights, I like a traditional A2 (0-2) style apeture, it is much quicker and easier to change between the larger and smaller sight holeas.

For folders Troy sights are ok, but I must say I prefer KAC, but they are spendy. If running a red dot, go fixed DD sights. Best value on the market.
