I`m trying to identify an AR-15 detachable carry handle, the owner claims it`s off a Colt 6920. The only marking is a square casting mark in the upper rear right side, no letter C . I`m not sure if it`s Colt so any info will be appreciated .

Be sure the Square is a square and not a keyhole mark.....

If it s keyhole mark it very well could be a colt.

Also just because its a keyhole does not make it a colt. The keyhole just means cerro forging if im not mistaking.

Not all keyhole carry handles are made on Colts machines.

The square is a square.

It is probably Colt, but to make sure you need to measure from the bottom of the carry handle to where the rear sight base sits. This should be .840"

A commerical dimension carry handle will be .800"

.840 on the dial caliper. Thanks Scottyran. So Brass Aluminum`s forge mark is a square, Thanks again. I kinda thought that Colt would have stamped a C along side of the square. I have a Cerro Forge upper with a C stamp applied.

Colt carry handles are usually not marked with a C.
