I have never loaded 223 before and have gathered some supplies. I am going to start with TAC loaded behind 75gr OTM and 55gr FMJ. Is the CCI #41 an ok primer to start off with or would I be better off starting with a different primer?

I've done fine with Remington 7 1/2 and CCI SR (400's IIRC).

The #41 is a harder cup designed to prevent any slam fires. I'm not saying they aren't good, i just don't think they're needed.

I try to avoid WSR primers, they have softer cups and don't like high pressure. just my experience.

I've used Alliant Reloder 15 and either Rem 7 1/2 or Fed 205M primers on thousands of rounds for Highpower.

My short line load (200/300 yds) was 24.7 gr on Re15 under a Hornady 75 BTHP.

My 500/600 yd load started with the same load except I loaded a Hornady 75 Amax. Later on I switched to Berger 80 VLDs and reduced the charge to 24.5. The 75 Amax was .01" off the lands, the Berger was jammed .02".

These loads are commonplace in Highpower and completely safe in in my rifle and in the majority of 20" Wylde chambered rifles, which dominate Service Rifle competition.

I would not have any concerns at all in loading up 24 to 24.5 gr of Reloder 15 and Hornady 75s for carbine use.

Seen no major diff at 300 yards on velocity, accuracy and reliability. Used Federal, Winchester, and CCI. Thus will stick with CCI 41 and 34.

I have been using Remington 71/2s and Wichester WSR. The Remingtons for precision and WSR for plinking type loads. Using either AA2520 or AA2230 respectively. Been pretty happy with both.

I use Hornady 55 gr V max over 62.5gr IMR 4895 and CCI 400 primers in my AR's and seems To be good all around training and groundhog load....
