Hey guys – Chris from RUDY PROJECT here. We’re very excited to be sponsoring the M4C forum. You’re probably asking yourself, ‘What’s Rudy Project?’
Rudy Project is a performance eyewear company that has specialized in high-end performance sports eyewear since 1985, and we’re starting to really focus on our tactical + shooting lines.
I’ll make this short: Bottom line – we make the highest quality tactical eyewear in the world, and I’m here to answer any questions that you may have about Rudy Project, like ‘what makes Rudy Project the better then so-and-so?’
-Highly scratch-resistant and absolutely unbreakable ImpactX lenses
-Lenses are made from same material as ballistic Apache Attack Helicopter windshield panels
-Lifetime Lens Warranty / 3 Year Frame Warranty (absolutely no questions asked)
-360˚ adjustability of temple arms and nose pieces: for a truly custom, fog-free fit
I’m ex-SOCOM, and I share that with you because I want you to know that I can provide USEFUL and ACCURATE information for you…Not just a fancy marketing pitch.
I think you’ll be noticing a lot of Rudy Project eyewear out there soon, and I know that once you discover our eyewear for yourself…you’ll never wear anything else.
Thanks for reading my intro, and feel free to ask me questions.
Chris

Thats great news!
Funny my military optometrist mentioned your brand to me about 3 yrs ago during a checkup. Of course I had issued protective eyewear (Revision, Wiley-X and ESS) at the time. If I ever wear those out I will give yours a look! You guys on the APEL yet?
RudyProject
12-21-10, 15:39
Redhat,
Rudy Project is not on the current APEL, but I am in the process of getting this done.
It's just a matter of going through all of the necessary steps.
Thanks,
As a cyclist I've been familiar with Rudy Project eyewear for years. It's really encouraging to see them supporting shooting eyewear.

Welcome aboard Chris. I'm looking forward to see what you and your company has to offer.
Welcome !
speaking as a member of USAT and HRTC, who Rudy already sponsers, these guys have great gear...
RudyProject
12-21-10, 16:22
Thanks guys.
Rudy Project has always catered to elite endurance athletes (US Ski Team, Tour de France, etc), but we realized that shooters/operators have very similar demands in their eyewear...
-comfort
-customization
-durability
-no fogging
-unmatched customer service and warranties
When I came on board with the company, I wanted to really focus on creating the best shooting/tactical eyewear available.

I have lots of friends who are also competitors that use your guys stuff. I've heard nothing but good things.
Welcome to the forum!
I use Rudy Project Freeon glasses for sport shooting (IPSC) for last 5 years. I shot 2006 and 2010 IPSC European Handgun Championships with them. They are very comfortable and lens (racing red) is very good in virtually every light condition. Only problem was when my lens cracked in halves in the middle, but Polish distributor replaced lens with no charge.
My friend uses Horus (or similar) model and shoot several last two IPSC Worldshoots and countless matches with them and he likes them very much.
If only they costed little less... :sarcastic:

Thanks Robb - I'm a big fan of your posts.

Thanks Montrala,
We do offer a Lifetime Lens Replacement Guarantee (absolutely no questions asked)
Our products aren't cheap, but there is no doubt that you get what you pay for (at least with our products)...All Rudy Project eyewear is manufactured in Italy and made from superior materials.
Will you guys be a SHOT this year?
RudyProject
12-21-10, 17:10
Redhat,
Rudy Project is currently on the waiting list to get into SHOT.
I realistically don't expect to get in this year, but I will be there personally.

Love mine. Never fog, great lens selection and the Rx insert works like a charm. Love this color (Laser Red?). Enough tint for full sun, and still lets you see in shadows and parking garages. Switch them out in winter for Polarized dark ones. Might try some photochromics next year.
Welcome, and thanks for the intro and info.

Nice shot - That's actually a laser orange (or laser copper) lens.

Are you guys really here in Denver? Your address is CO, you number is OC.
I first saw Vickers wearing these glasses at a class and was impressed with them. So I picked up a pair of the Rydon's and Genetyk Shooting pack.
My lens of choice currently is the Photochromic Clear Lens, but am really warming up to the Photochromic Red Lenses.
One of my biggest issues with shooting classes is having to change the lenses to the current lighting. With the Photochromic lenses, that is no longer a problem. Very cool!
My Oakley M Frames will be won't be seeing any more range time. ;)

what is a photochromatic lens?
what is a photochromatic lens?
http://www.rudyprojectusa.com/technology/impactx.htm
Basically, the lenses sense the amount of UV rays and change from clear to dark.
C4
what is a photochromatic lens?
The darkness of the lens changes relative to the amount of light one is exposed to.
thanks for the quick answer.
These look well worth the money but i have a habit of losing sunglasses. Im really gonna have think about these tho. Maybe i will just go with the steve urkel retention device :)

rsgard,
Photochromic lenses change tint (or darkness) according to how much light they are exposed to. In other words, the lenses get lighter in the dark and darker in the light.
Our photo clear lenses transition from totally clear (in dark conditions) to grey in the sun.
We have a photo red lens that is incredible against a red-dot sight. That lens transitions from light rose (in the dark) to a dark grey in the sun.
All of our photochromic lenses are literally unbreakable. I challenge you to try this with your current lenses.
Rudy Glasses are good stuff.

I'm glad to see Chris here on M4C to fly the Rudy Project flag - I must admit I was skeptical until I tried RP - they are excellent and the thing that I noticed immediately is the optical clarity - to my eyes dramatically better than the competition

Mr. Vickers, thank you very much for arranging this. I was just at the eye doctor today getting a new prescription, just to order some of these.
Your timing could not be better. :)
Wishing you and your family a safe and merry Christmas.
ETA: And Chris, thank you very much, also.
I'm going to have to wait until after the 1st of the year but I'll be ordering, thanks LAV & Rudy Project!

I had a chance to look at a pair of Rudy's this past weekend. I was impressed by the quality of the lenses and the look.
Anyone using their golf specific lenses? Or can someone tell me about them...
Available in photochromatic?
Picking up a set of Rydons tomorrow. Thanks LAV and Rudy Project for hooking us up!
Merry Christmas to me!
Jeff
I'd like to try these out. Does anybody have any feedback on whether any models are more or less comfortable under a set of muffs? Thanks.
Rydon's have some of the slimmest temple pieces which I find more comfortable under a set of earpro.
Are Rydons and Rydon IIs the same except for the lenses? I have Rydon IIs but would like bigger lenses.

xpd45,
The frames for the RYDON and RYDON II are the exact same, so you can swap lenses out.
Chris,
Do you guys have a local (Denver) retail store? I would love to try some of these out before purchase.

Welcome to M4C Chris and RP.
I am very much enjoying the timeliness of this post as I spent a bit of time shopping the RP site just this morning. How fortunate. The extra information is great. I suppose I will ask a question I had earlier, that many will like to know the answer to:
Does RP have any plans to offer MIL/LEO pricing (aside from the great Vickers discount of course...many thanks)?
Just wanted to say thanks to Chris and the LAV for the hookup. I just ordered a pair of Skalpel 88's with clear photochromic Rx lenses for everyday use.
Welcome aboard the M4C! I work with a fellow who's a professional cyclist who uses your product and swears by them.
Are any of the models specifically good for small faces, any tactical models for small faces?
It's awfully hard for me to get a pair of sunglasses that fit well and I can't find a store around me that sells RP to try on. Thanks for the discount code, by the way.

I've been looking for ANSI-rated sunglasses that could also serve as eye pro and the Rydons with photo-clear lenses appear to fit that bill perfectly. Just ordered myself a pair - thanks to LAV and Rudy Project for the discount!
Welcome to the forum. I've been using my Noyz glasses for about a year now and am very happy with them. I use the photo-chromatic clear lenses indoors and reds outdoors.
cool! i just got myself a rydon with the photochromic lenses and rx inserts:)

I just got a Genetyk shooting set for testing and so far I'm very impressed. I'll be doing a review on here in the coming weeks. Thanks Chris and welcome aboard!
You guys owe it to yourselves to check out the "UNREAL Deal of the Day" that Rudy has every day. I just ordered two sets of glasses at way more than the 40% off. A little patience and you'll see the pair you want eventually. Bought a pair of everyday ophthalmic frames for me and a sun glass frame with laser black lenses for my son when he lifeguards in the summer. Awesome deals!

Thanks for the positive feedback.
I'll go on record as saying that we make the highest quality tactical eye wear available.
Please let me know if you guys have ANY questions.
Thanks.
found out my local eye dr. carries Rudy Project so I stopped by this morning to check 'em out. I liked the Arpoon, but they didn't have them in stock with polarized lenses; wouldn't you know it I stumble onto this thread... just placed my order online!

Any chance for the frames in a coyote/fde.
or better yet
Is there any way you guys could apply some kind of whizzbang MultiCam film to the frame and lenses, It'd really be cool
would the (laser?)photochromic clear work for driving glasses? To turn darker do they require direct sunlight, while driving is more indirect?
I ask because it would be nice to have safety glasses that work in the back of the medic and when driving it.

How about these?

Qn: any difference between photochromatic and photolaser ? Or is photolaser short for photochromatic laser ...
Maybe it is just me, but when I enter the VIP code "VICKERS" nothing happens. Was the promotion only for a limited time?
Discount code is lavickers or it may need to be in all caps . It worked earlier today.
That one worked for me. Thanks a lot.
Are RPs MIL-PRF-31013 certified?
Larry Vickers

Yes the discount code changed awhile back - always check the home page of my website for the latest code; it will be up to date
Rudy's are the best shooting glasses I have ever used- I have been using them exclusively for a couple years now and I like them as much as I ever did
Try them and see what I mean ( pun intended ;-) )
